I will never buy a deal through this group again. They do not vet the companies they promote, and when you do happen to buy a deal that falls through, LivingSocial keeps your money. Now I'm stuck with a crappy 'deal buck' voucher with these yahoos.
I recommend anyone else avoid this site.
I've had 2 really bad experiences with shady vendors. Living Social must not vet their vendors, since the deals I've gone for turned out be total scams.
Just for your info if you get a traveling voucher when living social says Refund can be made within 30 days your screwed if it's a holiday or weekend and you want to cancelle, so it's not really 30 days. I wasn't asking for money back rather just credit toward another trip... all they care about is money not customer service
Couldn't give it 0 stars.
When someone takes your money and gives you nothing in return, that's called theft. I looked up con game in the dictionary and found a picture of the Living Social website.
My wife and I are both handicapped and live on a fixed social security income. We purchased a voucher for a cleaning service. After a week of calling the cleaning service to make an appointment with no response, they finally answered and made an appointment. Lo and behold, the day of the appointment no one showed up. We called the service and again after several days finally got through. We were told that the maid they sent was in an accident the night before and was in the hospital. We asked if they didn't have back up maids. We were told that they had just trained a new group of maids so we rescheduled a new appointment. An hour before the appointment was to occur, we received an email that they were understaffed and couldn't make the appointment but would be glad to reschedule. We rescheduled. Again the day of the appointment came and another no show with no explanation. By now, over 6 months had passed since we purchased the voucher. We notified Living Social by email that we were having no satisfaction with this voucher. We were told in a return email that we should take it up with the vendor. We emailed them back that our agreement was not with the vendor but with Living Social who had charged our credit card and we would like a refund. We received an email back refusing the refund on the grounds that the refund policy only covered 7 days from purchase. We couldn't even contact the vendor for over 7 days to even know if we were satisfied or not.
This company has no qualms about conning money from elderly people who have to scrape by to live. What a bunch of con artists!
Bought a deal for 1 year membership to Sam's Club with coupons for free chicken, pizza, and cookies and $20 gift card. Expiration is June 18. Went to Sam's Club on June 16 to apply for membership. Found that one of the coupons was expired (June 2) and Sam's Club would not honor it after lengthy discussion. The other 2 coupons expired today. Contacted Living Social and representative advised me that they had given me the coupons and that there was no guarantee that they would be good. They had fulfilled their end of the contract. I advised them that my contract was with Living Social not Sam's Club, and Living Social had voided their own contract by not making good on part of the deal. Good Luck with this.
Worst company EVER. We purchased a Living Social for Borgata (who does NOT have any rooms available) - Advised Living Social that there were no rooms and they still did not give a refund.
What a load of crap! The merchant that they dealt with did not have a room available and now this is my problem.
Do NOT use them for anything - shady company!
I've had a couple bad experiences with some of Living Social's vendors. They seem to grab some rather shady business people (not all, but some) who don't care one iota about their clients, just the money. Case in point:
I bought a deal for an interior and exterior pest spray. When I called the company they were able to come out the same day and spray. As the tech arrives, he tells me he cannot do an interior spray unless we remove all animals from the house and leave for 2 hours. Let's think about this, I just met the guy two minutes ago and he wants me to completely abandon him in my house? Yeah, no! I told him to spray the outside and wrote to Living Social for a refund. Their response... you can still use the interior spray or pass it along to someone else. I've contacted other pest control companies and none of them require you to leave your house for any period of time while they spray. Seems pretty fishy to me! And Living Social should be ashamed for encouraging this type of behavior!
I'm a small business owner who spent lots of time getting set up to offer a deal on LivingSocial. The day came for it to go live, and our offer is so buried, it took me a while to find it. There is no way anyone else is seeing it, and that's evidenced by the fact that it's not driving any traffic to our website or Facebook page. Business owners, don't waste your time here!
I have contacted them several times about an order I paid for, paid shipping on and still did not get. They keep promising to look into it. Lousy and I believe they are scammers and crooks and probably do not even reside in te U.S. from the language in the one email I got. Stick to Groupon! This company should be investigated.
Living Social is a rip off.
On April 2,2012, my wife purchased a Puerto Vallarta vacation from Living Social for $399. In July I ruptured a disc in my back and could not travel. She called and talked with them several times. She also sent them a lot of emails. Eventually they responded and said we were out of luck. They could be no help.
Ordered "goods" through this site. Only received half of my order so I emailed LS to follow-up. They made me wait over a week with repeated emails that they were checking into it for me. Than send me an email saying that I should follow-up with the company. This is absurd. I didn't order through a different company. I ordered through LS and they are the ones who took my money. I ran into a similar issue with a Groupon order a few months ago. Groupon asked that I wait for the deal to close, than when I still didn't get the missing part of the order promptly refunded my money. Absolutely no runaround. I know who I will- and WON'T- be dealing with in the future.
Buying through Living Social is the absolute worst buying experience I've ever had. In January I bought a 6 man hour cleaning voucher from The Green Freaks in Sacramento. When I called Green Freaks the first available time for a service was in May. I made the appointment, only to have the company cancel on me by leaving a voice mail on Sunday evening before the scheduled time. I repeatedly tried to reach Green Freaks to reschedule... leaving messages for four days in a row. No one ever returned my call. I finally decided that I had enough of this company and called LivingSocial. They told me that they had reached the cleaning service and that they would be calling me directly. Nothing! When I decided I'd had enough and wanted a refund... not our policy. You can only get a refund for 7 days after purchase. I couldn't even schedule an appointment in that amount of time so how would I know I needed the refund. I'm still wondering who got my money... LivingSocial or Green Clean Freaks. I just know I didn't get anything and had terrible customer service (no service) from LivingSocial. I honestly think this is a scam. Stay away from LivingSociat (and the Green Clean Freaks in Sacramento) all costs, it will cost you.
Never again... trying to use vendor for two months... they NEVER have availability for living social voucher BUT after it expires if I want to pay $80 more they will let me use the voucher... WHAT A SCAM! Living social said "sorry they are booked, you're out of luck, no refund"... stick with Groupon, they always refund if a vendor does not honor your voucher, I have never had a problem with them... RUN from Living social!
This company is a scam. I finally learned my lesson after loosing hundreds of dollar. The vendors never have openings for the certificates and you are screwed in the end. I tried calling customer service and had to wait on the phone for 2 hours! I emailed them and they just do not care and are the worst company I have ever dealt with with the way they treat the customer and handle situations. USE GROUPON! I have had much better service with Groupon and will NEVER waste my time/money with living social again.
Horrible experience! Please do not buy anything from them! I contacted them after buying comic con tickets through them but found a better deal through groupon. I call to ask to be refunded or lowered to the lower the price and they flat out refused even after talking to their supposely supervisor who wouldnt give me their name. After getting off the phone I recieved a email saying I had purchased the item again! I then called back and talked to "marco" a supervisor who then refused to give me the money back saying there was no way they would've charged twice without me allowing them to... well they did and now i have overpriced tickets to use and paid for two more that I never recieved! This company is a scam... please dont bother.
I purchased 2 living social deals for Khoury’s in Long Beach which expired on the 23rd of May 2013. I called Living Social because Khoury’s could no longer accomodate my deal because they are fully booked on all Living Social coupons. Living Social told me they can’t penalize the merchant because I was only giving them a few days to honor my coupon (It wasn’t even expired yet). Living Social told me they can’t do anything for me and that I should just use the face value of the coupon. What a scam! If there’s a class action law suit out there against them, count me in! Horrible company to deal with. Don't ever buy from this company.
Very similar experience to others here. Buy a service, good for many months. End date is approaching, so about one month prior to the end date attempt to get appointment with vendor. Vendor refuses to schedule appointment until after end date. LS refuses to refund purchase. Buyer is out of luck, neither Vendor or LS could care less.
Lesson learned, if you do get a "deal", dont delay cause any scheduling issue will result in forfeiture of service at no reimbursement.
I'd give this 0 stars if that was allowed.
Never buy from these people. They do not policy and ensure the quality of the vendors for which they offer products. I bought a service, tried for 1 month to get the vendor to accommodate my work schedule, he would not, and for the past month, the vendor has not even replied to my emails.
I asked Liviing Social for a refund. Guess what - you have to request a refund within 24 hours of purchase. That is ridiculous!
I spent $1,100 on a holiday and I wanted to cancel as perthe 14 days refund policy. But the 14 days includes weekend days. Now Living Social have my money and provided no service. I called on day 15 to cancel and received nothing. How can they take $1,100 and provide nothing?
Answer: I wouldn't recommend these people to anyone. A total nightmare. They take your money don't send the goods and they don't answer e mails
Answer: There do seem to have been some financial problems with many of the deals from Living Social. But when I had a problem they answered the phone and it was dealt with quickly and the goods resent.
Answer: Have you contacted the customer service at Livingsocial.com? I have found them to be pretty responsive in the past. This is a seperate review site.
LivingSocial is a leading "daily deal" site that sells discounted experiences and local services--restaurants, spa trips, home services, travel, etc.--via voucher. The consumer must pay for the voucher upfront, and the voucher generally must be used within a specified time period or it cannot be redeemed. To make these deals possible, LivingSocial sells merchants on its ability to help "find and keep more customers". LivingSocial is a private company based in Washington DC and its shareholders include Amazon.com.
