Living Social has AWFUL customer service. I have been a customer for a long time, and recently bought a deal where the merchant has REFUSED to even SCHEDULE an appointment with me for TWO months. He texted me (he will not answer the phone) to get a refund/credit (he has not received any money after all), but Living Social refuses and just keeps repeating their policy, basically saying I can just keep trying and if it expires oh well. It's asinine. They are basically stealing my money through fraud - what they promised is not possible to obtain.
Use Groupon instead, they try to make it work with the merchant but if they can't, they will give you a credit.
Beware of purchasing anything from Living Social because if a problem arises with redeeming your voucher, they will disappoint you! I tried to redeem a voucher I purchased for a car wash, who reduced their hours making it near impossible for me to use their voucher, and then they went out of business. I contacted Living Social to request a refund or credit toward another voucher, but they declined to do either. For an online marking company in a competitive industry, where ease of costumer service should be top priority, they are very shortsighted. I cancelled my account with them having purchased over $500 in deals and because these deals can be had elsewhere, I am still a happy shopper, just not with Living Social. Groupon guarantees at least the original purchase price of the groupon and it will never expire! Teach Living Social a lesson on client retention and stop buying their deals--you'll find the deals with competitors who will take of their customers when problems with redemption arise. Zulily.com is another great option for online shopping--check them out!
I have used living social over the past two years I have never had a issue with my good or service, and what groupon had promised. Now please keep in mind they are the middle man between you the client, and the company that is offering the discount or special with that said there was one time a company web sight was always going down, and I was not able to put in my code, since living social is mostly online I sent them a email and within 24/48 hours they emailed me back saying the would contact the vender. In 24 hours they said that the vender would take care of everything, and to give them 48 hours in 48 hours the vender did contact me through email and my good or service was shipping out. Living social did state that if the that company still gives issue that they will be glad to cut their losses and refund my deal or give me store credit. Life happens when you use a discount sight you have to give all the parts time to honor their goods and services, people are human and company have human in them too. If you want fast service then choose not to use the discount and pay full price. If you can wait a bit then this is a great sight and company.
LivingSocial has one big problem. They don't care what merchant they advertise therefore all research lands on you. For instance, I purchased a carpet cleaning voucher at the beginning of July and called the company that day to get scheduled which went to voicemail. Two days later, I get a voicemail that says they are closed for 2 weeks, so I called back to ask if I would be able to get scheduled before the end of the month. I get a call a week later to tell me they couldn't schedule me until the following month. I then go to LivingSocial to ask for a refund or credit and they flat out turn me down saying the merchant is still in business and honoring the voucher which does me no good as I have to get the work done now. So as long as everything works perfectly, their model is fine. Groupon and others I've experienced will credit your account and even refund your money.
So, buyer beware.
The $65 auto detailing service offered was never open, even when visited personally. Waste of my time and money. LivingSocial was extremely unhelpful and refused to provide a refund. Stay away from LivingSocial and use Groupon instead.
We bought a rug cleaning voucher and in the fine print, there was all kinds of stuff about stipulations for upholstery cleaning but not a single word for rug cleaning. We phoned for the company to come and clean our rug and they wanted $89 more because it was wool. We turned it down and contacted Living Social. They said "we can't put everything in the fine print". And because the guy had come to our home, they considered the voucher redeemed and wouldn't give us our $19 back that we paid for the voucher. We really think this is a total scam and we tell everyone who will listen to not use that site.
I ordered a product through Living Social. After waiting several weeks for it to arrive (which it never did) I tried calling the customer service number several times and either nobody mans the phones or the operator was overwhelm with phone calls. I ended up filing a claim through my bank to get refunded and they advised me that the company that I bought from had placed an automatic monthly withdrawal from my account. Never again would I buy anything on Living Social. Definitely stay away!
The worse customer service EVER. I purchased a necklace thru them (for Fusion Couture) and it never arrived. I contacted both places after 4 weeks and was told that it was still being processed. FusionCouture never replied. At two months I requested a refund from LivingSocial and was laughed at. Oh well, it's passed the 30 day refund period, I'll have to take it up with Fusion. Well, Fusion's customer service is even worse. Avoid both of these vendors like the plague!
I purchased an EZ curler. I did not like it and got a return authorization #. I returned the item and didn't hear anything. I have proof from the post office the item was received. When I called Living Social to find out about my refund I got an e-mail saying they were not going to give a refund. Why would I mail something back, if I'm not going to get a refund. Is this how they want to be treated? Say away from them-ripoff!
They are a Scam. Terrible customer service. They avoid refunding you money as much as possible. If you make comments on their site they ask you to go offline to "resolve issue" which they rarely do. Every deal I have bought for them has been a service, one more scammier than the other. It is clear that Living Social does not vet these companies... it's all a money grab. Their employees are unprofessional and what they are selling is Fool's Gold. Stay away and use Groupon. I really hope LivingSocial goes under, as they are a morally bankrupt company.
Living Social is - SCAM! Use GROUPON. I bought a deal for iphone 5 cable. Went to the linked site, paid shipping with PayPal, then never received a confirmation email or notice for shipping or the tracking # but my order status changed to "COMPLETE". Emailed the retailer, but no responses back so far. Will never use this site - now I am deleting the app from my phone. Do not waste your time!
Total Rip Off!
If the merchant cannot fulfil, LivingSocial does not care at all.
You loose your money and waste a lot of time arguing with LivingSocial.
Although it is obvious that the deal it cannot be fulfilled - LivingSocial does not care at all!
Very bad always, merchants never honor to the value while active in promotion, after expiration value transfers to the merchants they never honour that value jerk us around, as most of them are services, they are just advertising through these sites and not getting much money back from the paid amounts. Merchants benefit just by selling us more and not really honoring from what we paid for, so in effect merchants are advertising and we are paying for their advertising and living social makes money from both the sides and only consumers are loosers and a win win situation for merchants and scams like living social and groupon etc etc
Bought a house painting discount through "Living Nightmare", painter never showed up and they would not refund my money after repeated phone calls. They kept telling me that I could get another coupon for the same amount, which I read they are all a rip off. I finally threatened them saying I was calling NYC news reporter that exposes rip off companies. My credit card was credited the next day. Don't give up threaten them and they will give you your money back. Don't let them stall you with saying "we are looking into your issue", this is a lie. Only buy from Groupon, I have never has an issue with them ever. STAY AWAY FROM THE 'LIVING NIGHTMARE'!
PLEASE READING!
Please do not buy anything from this website, because to many secret detail in website, when you call their customer services they are not solving the problem. This website fuking only like it money, not a customer.
You guys finally buy to items the amazon or ebay guarantee.
Ozzy.
LIVINGSOCIAL SCAM: I spent $350 on two deals. Received NO EMAIL REMINDERS. And when I logged in, as I do regularly, nothing popped up saying: TIME TO USE YOUR VOUCHERS.
I realize now, they want you to waste the vouchers. I called and they said for one of the vouchers, they don't owe me any reminders. For the other, they claim they did send a reminder. But I don't ever delete email (it goes in the trash, but is never truly deleted.) While there are tons of email from LIVING SOCIAL and they are WHITELISTED in MY EMAIL, and there many reminders from months ago and years ago on past purchases, they didn't send one for the second voucher.
JUST LET IT EXPIRE.
WASTE. They are a scam.
LIVINGSOCIAL is a SCAM!
After I paid for teeth leaser-whitening treatment the soonest appointment with Rite Smile in Brunel House in Cardiff they could offer me was in 4 weeks time!
After 4 weeks waiting I turned up for my appointment when receptionist (which represents another few companies on the same floor) informed me that there is NO ONE TO DO YOUR TREATMENT HERE TODAY AS SHE CANT SEE ANY APPOINTMENT BOOKINGS FOR THE DAY. I left all my contact details with receptionist for them to contact me SAP. They never did. I waited for two weeks then decided to make a call to find out why nobody contacted me back.
The women from RITE SMILE responsible for my treatment acted in very rude and arrogant manner lying through her teeth that my appointment was at 11 o'clock and not at 9!
She refused to issue refund then told me to contact LIVINGSOCIAL customer service centre and with sarcastic coment 'AND GOOD LUCK WITH THEM' hung up on me!
Living social denies any responsibility!
I will never use this site again. For Xmas I purchased a 4 hour beauty package for Dana Bartone spa services in Cheshire Connecticut. My daughter attempted to schedule 3 times and was told their times when she could attend were full. The use date passed and it refused to extend the use date to schedule the appointment for the purchased services. Great way to avoid the deal-just minimize the time slots when the service could be used by the customer.
STICK TO GROUPON! Extremely unclear instructions. Poor experience with costumer service. I ended up paying for two $99 coupons and getting NOTHING in the end without even consideration for a refund. Jennifer with costumer service was not helpful at all. I was so dissatisfied with them that I even tried finding if I could close my LS account - which the website doesn't have that option. STICK TO GROUPON!
Terrible customer service and unclear instructions. I ended up being charge $140 on top of the $85 I already paid! Neither them or the hotel would take responsibility and now I'm out a lot of money. I never deal with them because of a past negative experience, not sure why I didn't learn my lesson then. Groupon has much better service and will actually respond to your emails.
Answer: I wouldn't recommend these people to anyone. A total nightmare. They take your money don't send the goods and they don't answer e mails
Answer: There do seem to have been some financial problems with many of the deals from Living Social. But when I had a problem they answered the phone and it was dealt with quickly and the goods resent.
Answer: Have you contacted the customer service at Livingsocial.com? I have found them to be pretty responsive in the past. This is a seperate review site.
LivingSocial is a leading "daily deal" site that sells discounted experiences and local services--restaurants, spa trips, home services, travel, etc.--via voucher. The consumer must pay for the voucher upfront, and the voucher generally must be used within a specified time period or it cannot be redeemed. To make these deals possible, LivingSocial sells merchants on its ability to help "find and keep more customers". LivingSocial is a private company based in Washington DC and its shareholders include Amazon.com.
