Very disappointing. I wasted a lot of time building a resume on this site, only to find that it was not cleanly editable in Word and that what you see on the screen is not what prints out. Also, order of education was randomly changed when I logged out.
On-line help was useless. Phone CSRs tried, but they could not overcome the systems failings
Don't spend time or money on this one!
Live Career is about as sneaky a scam you will find.
I built a resume - which for the record I was satisifed with - and opted for the "$2.95 14-day trial". My understanding was that this would be a one-off payment, with my access to Live Career's services expiring after the 14 days.
I found out this morning I had unknowingly paid over $120 to these crooks due to a monthly subscription to a service I never used after I built my resume. All requests for a refund have been denied and I refuse to believe the claim only "0.3%" of customer feedback are complaints to Live Career based on others' experiences on this website.
Avoid them at all costs. It's horrendous this company preys on people - many who are out of work thus building a resume - in such a despicable manner.
We appreciate you sharing your experience with us, Andrew. We strive to deliver A+ customer service and apologize if we haven’t met that standard. We’d like to help you address your concern so you can have a great experience with us, please contact us at https://www.livecareer.com/contact-us
I was very pleased with my customer service experience and Enrique was very helpful, understood my situation and quickly found the resolution I was looking for. My wife had signed up for a $2 trial just to update her resume for her current employer and had no intentions of using the site to find another job, etc. She failed to cancel her subscription as she should have and Enrique confirmed that she hadn't logged in but just 4 times, all within the 14 day trial period. He stated that he could credit 3 months but there were 2 more months he'd need approval for, and he was able to get that approval within a couple of minutes. If we ever need job-searching resources, we will certainly look into using your site! Thanks for showing me that there is still great customer service out there - it means a lot.
Hi Matt,
You just made our day! We strive to make our customers happy. Thanks for taking the time to tell us about your recent experience with our customer service. At LiveCareer, we take feedback seriously because it changes how we do things. In fact, we rely on it to continually improve our customers’ experience.
Best regards, LiveCareer
I read and knew what was coming, but planed to cancel in the 2 week time frame... oops but apparently I did not... There went $40
Difficult to set up the Resume, more so to download it to your computer for printing.
When I tried to cancel they asked if I wanted a Cover Letter package for another $34.95... REALLY? MY first $40 does not get me a cover letter?
I have to tell you I believe its a scam to charge $2.95 for 2 weeks and $36
For the next two weeks. Basically $40 a month for this program.
I could buy software at Walmart to do this same thing for half the price and
Keep the software forever.
Hi Richard,
Thanks for your comments.
The $34.95 for the monthly subscription (not two weeks) does come with a cover letter. We believe the customer service representative was just trying to make you aware of this feature. Many of our subscribers realize that a customized resume and cover letter for each position to which they apply, is a key to job hunting success and therefore keep our service throughout their job search.
If you have questions, we have Customer Service available to all of our users 18 hours a day, 7 days a week at our toll free -888-816-0576 to help with any issues. You can also contact us by live chat or via e-mail to customerservice@livecareer.com.

Josue was very polite and quick in responding. Best thing was that he also gave me a compliment offer to continue my subscription. But sadly i do not use this website that much for a monthly subscription.
Hello, Shibu:
Reviews like this really make our day. We’re thrilled to hear that Josue was able to assist you with your request and provide you with excellent service. We’ll be sure to let him know your comments.
Absolutely terrible company, at 1st they charge you to print of your cv which is only a £1. The CV was awful not very professional I would not hand it to a potential employer. Then they charge me twice totalling in £50 for nothing, which they have taken from my account, without any notice or even a receipt so I know where the money had gone. DO NOT USE.
Hi Emma M.,
I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service. We explain that the subscription is auto-renewing. The auto renewal is listed with the features of the 14 day subscription on the sales page, as well as on the payment and confirmation pages. You were also sent an email confirmation of the purchase that also listed the monthly rate and the date that your subscription would auto renew. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings.
We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously. It will be forwarded to our Marketing team. Please contact me directly if you have any further issues. You can email me at anna.b@livecareer-support.com

Costs too much and if you dont want the "extras" then they wont process your order. Very specific I like their content but they want you to pay 14 dollars for someone to look over your work and such I just wanted to print or import it to google docs but that even costs you money
Hi Mike A.,

We offer an Annual subscription for $7.95 per month which is a 1-year commitment and is the best value for full access to your resumes for the entire year. We also offer a $1.95 initial subscription which then renews to our 4 week recurring service for $39.80 but you can cancel anytime within 14 days if you don’t want the service to auto-renew. Printing comes with a paid subscription but you can download the plain text format for free. Just click download and select the plain text format.
Please contact me directly if you have any further issues. You can email me at anna.b@livecareer-support.com.

Used the site to create my "free resume" that cost me $1.95 to print. Did not realize there was going to be another fee after 14 days. On the 15th, they charged my card nearly $40 for services I never used and had no intention to use. Sent them a request to cancel and get a refund and they said too bad. You had 14 days. Sorry, Sorry, Sorry business. Don't trust. Never saw a business that would not give you back your money if you were unhappy or complained about their business practice to charge you after your free trial was up, and not give you any time to cancel.
Hi Tammy P.
Thanks for providing me the email address you used to create the account.
As a courtesy, I refunded the amount of $39.80. You'll see it on your bank statement within 2-3 business days. I have also sent you a confirmation email for your records.
We are very committed to providing great customer service and customer satisfaction, and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously. Please contact me directly if you have any further issues. You can email me at anna.b@livecareer-support.com

The fact that Live Career has an employee(s) who spends time responding to hundreds of complaints with the better bureau and on forums like this rather than addressing the complaints by clearly stating their fee structure BEFORE the user invests time creating a resume and tries to print it says it all. The pages available to "nonmembers" use the word free repeatedly. The fact that you may have to pay for anything is not stated until you get to the print dialog box. If you try all of the several print options you will find you can print a plain text resume for free. So are they hoping to mislead you, or do they just have the worst web designers and quality control possible?
Dear Tina,
Thanks for your comments.
Our free account gives you the opportunity to try out our resume builder, it is free to create a resume and cover letter, utilize the tools, designs, templates and text tuner samples. If you like what you see, we ask you to pay for a subscription. The ability to print, email, or download a professional looking resume and cover letter are only listed as a feature of the paid subscription and are not listed as a feature of the free account. We're sorry for any confusion.
If you have any questions our customer service team is available 18 hours a day, 7 days a week from 6am- Midnight EST at toll free 1-888-816-0576 or through live chat on our site. If you prefer you can send us an email to: customerservice@livecareer.com

I need ALL the money back ($39.80 x 6 = $ 238.80) that you've been taking from my credit card account for the last 6 months! I've used your "FREE" trial service for my cover letter and resume but that was ALL!

Hi Yolande l.,
I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service. All of our subscriptions are auto-renewing. Whether you are a beginner or advanced, this is by far the best site to guide you in the right direction to find a job. It took me less than 2 weeks to revamp my resume and cover letter and find a job. Customer service is great, very pleased, thanks again!

I was able to build a good resume. That being said, I signed up for $2.95 then to be billed $23.95 starting 14 days later. I logged into my subscription the same day that I purchased it and cancelled subscription after completing resume. I did not receive any email confirmation but thought nothing of it until I was checking bank statements and noticed a charge for $23.95 from the company. I contacted customer service via chat and was told that they never received a cancellation request and I had no proof as they do not send emails for cancellations.
The customer service person was helpful but unable to help completely resolve the issue. I got a partial prorated refund for a service I have not used since I first signed up and cancelled. Although I do not think they are trying to cheat customers I believe it is unfair when subscriptions are cancelled you have not way of knowing it went through other than the thank you received get when logging out.
Hello,
We are very alarmed to know that you feel this way and are certainly prepared to change the experience you had with us. We would like to take this time to clarify any doubts. We provide multiple options available that include free and paid subscriptions. Our 14-day trial auto-renews to our monthly access until you decide that it has met your expectations and proceed to cancel your subscription.
In order to avoid any misunderstanding, this information is provided before, during, and after the subscription is bought. We also provide this information in the welcoming email sent during the purchase.
We would love to help you with your refund request. Please look for a message from us asking for your account information. We are certainly committed to changing your mind about us and ensuring that you receive the excellent customer service we pride ourselves on.

I originally found LiveCareer online when I was job searching. Their templates are professional and easy to use. I was able to create a nice looking resume.
I've also had excellent experience with their customer service.
Hi Melinda:

My wife got a resume for 2 dollars and then they starting charging us 35.80 per month. Ok fine. Tried to cancel and they charged me for 3 more months. Finally called them for the 4th time. Said they would cancel and refund 1 month. Wtf. Why only one month. I should of got all my money back. Maybe one month. But not all 4. This is a super misleading site.
We appreciate you sharing your experience with us, Matthew. We strive to deliver A+ customer service and apologize if we haven’t met that standard. We’d like to help you address your concern so you can have a great experience with us, please contact us at https://www.livecareer.com/contact-us
I used this site for a quick template resume builder and it was just that. I even spent the couple dollars to have access to download the resumes to my computer after I was all finished. I was not aware that after making that purchase I would be set-up in an automatic subscription renewal and would be charged $39.80 without any notice. I woke up this morning to check my bank account and see I was charged $39.80 for a livecareer subscription and said "OH NO YOU DIDN'T" and went on the livecareer site immediately and cancelled my subscription. However, that does not mean I will be automatically refunded my money, so I emailed and also chatted live with customer service and had to make a very big fuss over it. I just received a confirmation email that my refund should be here in a few days. We'll see. Either way, I'm very disappointed with this website. Especially for taking so much money from my account without any notice. DO NOT USE THIS SITE.
Hi Aimee J.,

Our record shows that a full refund of $39.80 has been processed today. You'll see it on your bank statement within 2-3 business days.

Thanks to a support worker, Anna, did concede and returned 3 months of 6 months billings.
It is their policy to auto-bill,,,, soooo beware, and be warned. Also they are not a USA comp, they are UK, all billing is UK. Would I use again? Site was OK, worth the fees, NO. You can hire a professional writer for much less that 40$ a month. Always be aware of auto-billing. I will never again use a real CC, banks now issue refillable CC for internet use, I now know why. And the CC company's wont back you since they consider auto billing legitimate.
Be Warned! I am thank full for the assistance of the person mentioned, but it should never have happened.

Had a great experience with this site.
All kinds of templates to use and insights.
Even had to call customer service with a quick question/help, got taken care of.
I was told this was an outstanding resume that I completed with the web site.
If your looking to build your resume and have not done so in a while I would recommend you use this site, you can not go wrong.
You will land the job after you complete it with Live Career.com
Thanks

I'm absolutely appalled by Livecareer's ethics because they are willing to scam people without any remorse.
On January, I signed up for a resume ( Knowing i would be charged $1.95). Two months later I got a bank statement, notifying me that Livecareer had charged me $39.80 per month (total of $81.88). I had no idea that they were charging me, I called them immediately after i got my bank statement. And they told me I would PARTIALLY receive a refund (only $35.00) for the second month. I don't understand why they couldn't give me a FULL refund, because they never gave me any confirmation that they were charging me. Also, the customer service was terrible (the guy who was on the phone was pretty much yelling at me!)
This website is a total scam and I warn you not to use Livecareer because they FAIL to do the right thing.
Hi Cindy K.,

Fairly awesome! You certainly know the right words; the site is so easy to navigate. Helpful examples also -- thanks! I got the job I was looking for. I was so happy to have my resume look and read so professional -- very impressive. Thank you! Yes, I would certainly recommend LiveCareer -- even your "chat" folks are so kind, patient, and helpful.

Called the number listed, no answer, then a busy signal. Tried to use LiveChat, left to wait for 5 minutes and no one came on. Called my credit card company to indicate that I did not order anything from them and am now being issued a new credit card. Funny thing is, my credit card company was well aware of how LiveCareer works.

Answer: This is what the site advertised: For 14 day access, $14.95, and for a year $39.80. However, signing up for ANY service aloows the site to store your payment information for further billing, and getting in touch with them, much less obtaining help is nigh impossible. After two weeks they will pull $39.80 MONTHLY from your payment method (please see my review and others on Google and yelp for further verification of this).
Answer: Do not use this site!
Answer: I had to cancel my Debit Card account with Bank of America, because the Bank refused to block LiveCareer from my account. I wonder if they are in cahoots or what? I believe a class action suit may be required so we can get our funds back.
Answer: Call your bank and change your card number Call them and let them know you have contacted your bank and will contact the better business bureau of you don't get a full refund. Then contact the better bBB and file a formal complaint. You will have a refund within a week. That's how I got my money back
Answer: Dont waste your time trying to contact them. I went to my bank and had all future billing refused AND I went to the State Attorney General and reported them.
Answer: Hello, Sarah - Thank you for getting in touch with us, our subscriptions are auto-renewing, we have a continuous billing feature that charges your account after the 14-day period and every month for the regular price afterward. However, if you are only interested in the 14-trial and wish to avoid any recurring charges simply cancel your subscription before beforehand. We hope that this helps clear things up for you, if you have any other questions or concerns, please let us know. Best regards, LiveCareer US
