Bait and Switch
August 4, 2015

This is a bait and switch site. You pay a few bucks up front when you need a resume template. In the fine print is an auto subscription for 40 bucks a month. This site needs to be shut down.

Hi Collin S.,

I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service. We also explain that the subscription is auto-renewing. We state this on every page in the purchase process and we send a payment confirmation email stating the date and amount of the auto- renewal. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings. A monthly subscription makes it easy for our customers to customize the resume and cover letter for each position for which they are applying, and also to avoid interruption on the service.

We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously. It will be forwarded to our Marketing team. Please contact me if you have any further issues. Please email me at anna.b@livecareer-support.com

Best Regards,

TERRIBLE!
August 3, 2015

So they claim to charge $1.95 for 14 days, but yet charged me $1.97. I was willing to let this go, but after trying to cancel and it not working I was charged $39.95. I called asking for a prorated rate since I was a day late with their glitchy system and wham $29.95 for 6 hours! Are you $#*!ting me?! Stay away, I think I'm canceling this card too with all the awful experiences below me!

I paid $1.95 for a cover letter 18 months ago and immediately cancelled the account so as to not get further charges. Without checking my account I was charged 34.95 for every month! And I don't even have a resume! I never received a single email to my registered email account to say anything had been paid or auto renewed each month and have had no contact from customer support.

My teenage daughter was trying to build a free resume, followed the link to Livecareer, completed a template and then they wanted to charge $1.95. I was willing to pay this when she asked if she could use my credit card, but I did NOT authorize Livecareer to bill me $50.67 Canadian for the next 6 months! Over $300.00! My daughter had gone on line to access the site, and she had received a message that the subscription had been cancelled, so we thought fine. We do not have to do anything else. However, the charges kept coming every month. I went on the Live Chat with Alaine and gave her the last 4 digits of my card number, the date and reference number of the transaction; however, for some reason, they could not find any record of it. I finally spoke with a live person, and he could only refund the last month that had been billed to my card, not the other 6. I told them to look at the activity on the account... there was NOT ANY because she had received a message stating that the subscription had been cancelled! However, they had not confirmed the cancellation with an email; therefore, their tech department had NO RECORD of it. BEWARE! DO NOT USE THIS SITE! And Anne, when you read this review, the only way that you can remedy this situation is to REFUND ALL OF MY MONEY THAT WAS TAKEN WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION! My teenage daughter is trying to save money for university and she is working all summer as a lifeguard. She is volunteering at homeless shelters, soup kitchens and with the Salvation Army Food Van to feed the homeless. And there are companies like this who are STEALING money away from her! Shame on you! My rating should be negative 10 stars, but that it not an option!

Buyer Beware
July 31, 2015

The resume writing part is pretty good, but the billing system they've set up appears to be deliberately designed to fool you. Paying a couple of bucks for a resume is a good deal, but they want you to pay monthly membership fees. It says on their site to cancel after 14 days. I read it, noted it, and cancelled -- or thought I had. Apparently it isn't as easy to quit as I thought. Latest credit card statement has two charges for $39:80. I phoned and they removed one of the charges. Be very careful or you'll pay more than you planned.

I made one cover letter. I thought it was going to cost me $1.90 as advertised. I was scammed and charge $39.50 because I didn't cancel after 14 days. I had no idea this was the case. I feel so deceived and there customer service line told me that I had made a mistake and they were unable to help me. I hope others can read this and be warned. Don't do it!

As everyone has said, $1.95 for s resume and in small print it says you agree to a subscription. I also called regarding these charges and they said too bad. They had no intention of refunding $80.00. I'm going to dispute these charges! Taking advantage of consumers!

I wanted to give a heads up that you will likely see a "International POS fee" on your bank statement. Apparently in small print, this was mentioned. They do their banking in the UK. I didn't read the small print.

It is kind of deceiving that they advertise as free resume building. I didn't know it would cost until after spending a lot of time creating my resume and at the end is when you see it'll cost to print or save it. I did not read the terms & conditions beforehand. With that being said, I was able to create & make a copy of my resume.

Hi Lisa K.,

I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service. As an international company, LiveCareer processes payments through LiveCareer UK, Ltd. with its offices in London, England. Some banks charge an international transaction fee, even when the charge is in US dollars. These fees are charged by your bank and not LiveCareer.
Our free account gives you the opportunity to try out our resume builder before deciding to purchase. The ability to print, email, or download your resume and cover letters are features included in our paid subscription and not listed as a feature of the free account. You can download a plain text version of your resume for free.

We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously. It will be forwarded to our Marketing team. Please contact me if you have any further issues. Please email me at anna.b@livecareer-support.com

None of the featured worked on the website complete was of money and time! Contacted multiple times to cancel my account they said ok and I was still being billed. Used the option to talk to them online said it was canceled still never got email confirmation finally tried calling yet again to wasted 30 minutes of my time and the phones were disconnected. I only then got a response when I contacted my credit card company to dispute the charges! Then they were willing to cancel my account but charge me another month. How thoughtful. Thankfully my creditcard company blocked charges and is refunding me. I'm not one to write reviews but they're a horrible company!
