I joined Linkedin as a professional and ambitious person who also wanted to connect with same people but with Respect.
I really liked this Professional platform for career oriented people like me where one can share their thoughts on different posts, job posting emails, knowledgeable info shared by linkedin team via newsletters. And people send you connection requests & want to connect & chat with you on a professional level(keeping in mind the privacy & respect of a person) is what made me love the professionalism of many linkedin individuals. And it helped me learn many things that makes me become more ambitious.
Am totally in it.

I am a small business owner that decided to advertise a job opportunity on LinkedIn. I like that they "guaranteed" that you would get your $300.00 back if you had 10 or less applicants after 30 days. After my 30 days, with only 1 applicant, they are now refusing to refund my $300.00 because of a human technical error of not putting my company type on the post (Guess what - hair salon was not a choice - that should have been my warning!). Companies who use fine print and technicalities to get out of their "guarantee" promises have no business making false promises. I will never use Linked again and caution any small business owner planning to advertise with them to go another direction.

I was contacted by a person in London, so they said, Turned out to be Nigeria.
The whole thing was a scam. When I entered their e-mail into a search it revealed the scam. I reported them to Linkedin about a month ago. The account is still active.
I did some searching on Linkedin and found others had similar results.
Others say they used to do a better job. Other comments here suggest they are getting too big and don't really care.

The basic functionality of LinkedIn allows users (workers and employers) to create profiles and "connections" to each other in an online social network which may represent real-world professional relationships. Users can invite anyone (whether a site user or not) to become a connection.

LinkedIn has the absolute worst customer service reps. With a "I'm right, you're wrong" mentality. No notification that my free job posting was switching to paid with their recommended budget of "$51/day". I got charged $100 over a Saturday and Sunday and when I logged on Monday I had a $100 fee. I tried to talk to a Customer Service rep and they just sent me screenshots with no sincerity or trying to understand anything and said basically this is how it works and that's it.

LinkedIn is pretty cool! It's mostly for more professional based connections. Think of it as this way, Facebook with professional people ONLY! LinkedIn is a great source to finding a new job or your old colleagues. You can also sear for recruits, hiring managers, and HRs. It's a great way to stay connected to the business world. There are tones of groups to join from and the group members are there to help you with your career goals. I would suggest that anyone thats not on LinkedIn, get on. WARNING! Do watch out for scammers! People offer you jobs that are unbelievably amazing, but at the end you'll see it's a scam. BE CAREFUL!

LinkedIn is blocked since February 2017 in Russia because of customer security reasons. Customers are compromised, they say. Could the Russian government know Ed Snowden better than we do? No doubt they are right. I cannot access my Linked in Page from where I live in Russia.

I was pleased with this site when it first came around, but now that they require payment to see the actual profiles of who has viewed you, and additional exposure just to see the very high level description of who has viewed you, I find I don't visit the site much.

There's no realistic jobs posted there, at least not compared to Dice or other job boards, but there are good groups with decent discussion topics to browse.

No regular updates
September 16, 2022

There are a lot of jobs which have either expired or have been filled. There should be a regular update mechanism to archive those postings to ensure relevancy of job or role. Sometimes the UI has an interpretation challenge but over a period of time you get used to it. The Groups can be more structured and guided to enable quick conversations and moderation can overcome irrelevant topics being discussed in the group.

Every professional who cares about networking needs to be a member of this site. I've personally gotten someone a job where I work because she contacted me through linkedin. My fiance got his current job because someone he worked with in the past found him on linkedin. In a tough economy like today, it's about WHO you know, not WHAT you know.

Shocking Linkedin Privacy Issues.
I have recently uncovered some shocking practices on which Linkedin are engaged. They are so bad that I would not recommend this organisation to anyone. To cut a long story short, Linkedin appear to be tinkering with people's connections, adding unwanted connections and even removing wanted ones. My wife and I have both experienced this recently. Linkedin refuse to accept any responsibility for this and continually say that my wife and/or I are to blame and must have accidentally caused these issues!
I recommend that no one touch Linkedin with a barge pole until they can get their act together.

AVOID THESE SPAMMERS! I was looking for info and gave my email. It is NON-STOP SPAM, and they have MILLIONS of check-boxes you need to check to stop ALL THE SPAM. No ONE BOX to stop it all. And you can't even CLOSE the account until you verify it. The WORST SPammers EVER! Your best bet is to add them to a spam filter rather than play their game!

Worst customer service
August 30, 2023

I have been hacked for a week and this company will not respond, absolutely nothing when it comes to response time. Good luck with your company I will ask my followers to join me on another professional network that will at the very least respond.

Worst service

There needs to be an alternative because this company misrepresents its mission. It keeps you from making connections which is based on a case by case basis. There is no criteria in terms of how many connections and invites you can have which appears to be shady. Customer service is horrific and their technology is ancient. We need a legit professional platform for professionals to connect.

Not Relevant
January 2, 2019

Two things drive me crazy enough to write a review about LinkedIn. 1. Just because I'm a Realtor, doesn't mean I want to connect with other Realtors! LinkedIn matches me 9 out of 10 times with Realtors. Analyzing who I CHOOSE to link with would be a much better measure of who I WANT to link with. Dah! 2. The one thing that LinkedIn was good at, they took away from the free subscription. That is, showing me how I'm connected with other people. Showing how we are connected to each other is LI's single best value proposition, bar none. Otherwise, it's just a wanna-be facebook product with a bunch of irrelevant posts! The photo I chose is the floor of the Getty Villa in Malibu, representing both Form and Function, something LinkedIn does not understand.

I asked to redo my password and received a code on my phone which I typed in. Linked In security got the code from my phone and instantly restricted my account requiring an identity verification. It requires me to send a photo of certain identity documents but the same program refuses to accept the photos I send because they are too large. There is no explanation for how to reduce the size of what my phone produces. There is no way to talk to anyone at linked in without signing in. Why are so many companies quick to set up an idiot automated bot that can't actually answer real word questions and a security system which is really excellent at locking out their own customers and still vulnerable to hacks from outsiders? To top it off if you search the net for linked in you find a message for contact us but it is also not working.

I used this site for a short period of time as a premium user to identify possible candidates for an open position for my employer and the connections and methods of contact allowed me to establish interaction with some prospective hires that I may not have otherwise found.

LinkedIn is my favorite social network because it is a perfect place to network and find job and business opportunities. In the past, I have applied for jobs, gotten interviews and even secured freelance projects from employers. Even for people who don't love social networks, I do mention to them why LinkedIn would definitely be worth joining.
