Have used Legacy box a few times with some OK results on older VHS and Beta tapes. Recently had some old 8mm tapes to submit - had 4 tapes so entered the order for a 2 item package returned on a disc, then changed the quantity box to 2. The order looked like it was for two 2 item packages onto disc. When the box to ship arrived it only had stickers for 2 items - when I contact LB they said the order was for one 2 item package with 2 discs to be sent. Very deceiving order window and confirmation.
My daughter died a year ago from breast cancer and she left behind a husband and two boys ages 8 and 11. I am writing my daughter's biography and I am including websites that the boys can click on to see their mother in action at various stages of her life. Slides, 8mm film, and video tape of her has been expertly converted over to a thumbdrive and CDs. Thank you Legacy for helping me turn this project into reality.

I listened to their radio ads and decided to give them a try. Not only did it take 3X longer than advertised to complete and get my reels and dvds back to me, but 9 out of 10 were upside down and in reverse. I'll wait another day before filing a claim with my credit card company and BBB. They said they would refund my hard earned money, but I'm still waiting...
I paid over $2500 a few years back for 3 trunk and 2 closet sizes. Horrible life events took over and I was not able to send in any videos/pictures to be processed. Now that I want to send in material, I can get 3 trunk and 2 closet sizes for close to $500 less. $500! The person who took my call was gracious, but did not have the authority to help me. The supervisor called and, very nastily and with a short temper, insisted that I could not apply the entire $2500 to any future orders. I could get 3 trunks and 2 closets, but lose the $500. Huh? All I was requesting was that the money I paid could be applied to whatever product I was going to purchase at Legacy Box. The supervisor's response was unreasonable and certainly unfair, and he was quite condescending, I might add. I cannot believe Legacy Box does not offer gift cards to be applied to purchases and that my losing $500 meant nothing to them.
The box was full of information making it very easy to get my items together and sent properly. It was WAY quicker than I expected based upon the anticipated return time of a couple of weeks. I had my memories returned to me in less than a week and the usb drive worked flawlessley in not only my laptop but on my TV. Great service!
Sent 20 small reels of 8mm video. After one full month of waiting, I received an email stating that my order was finally being processed. A few days later another email telling me that my order was being shipped.
The result and the $300+ fee is totally unsatisfactory.
1.16 reels were processed, 4 were rejected. (OK but still full price)
2. Eash video was separated with long blacks.
3. No normal controls.
4. No way to forward or reverse. (To look at #16 I must start at #1 and wait)
5. The useless duplication at the end causes me to wait longer to eject and start over!
This company has no useful knowledge of video editing.

If the DVD has blank space, then it was also on the reel. You can forward or reverse on your DVDs by using the controls on your DVD player or remote. Our tapes were so old…40 plus years, so that we were concerned they would break or be otherwise unsalvageable. We received our cds and could hear and see one really well, the second had a few sound issues but we are thrilled with the outcome considering what they had to work with!
Don't use this company! They changed the processing timeline to months instead of weeks, asked for more money as I had sent in add'l items, never updated my email and very inconsistently sent a few updates and not at the times they indicated they would. With all the porch pirates, was afraid that my processed box would be stolen as never was clear on exactly when I would receive. I had followed instructions in packing my box and put sticker on to have thumb drives and only received discs. Their processing team was not accurate or thorough after waiting for sooo long! They indicated a few items couldn't be processed, maybe due to poor quality but never labeled which they were. This was the most disappointing, agonizing, frustrating company to deal with, when it could have been a fun and rewarding experience. Oh and btw, I shared all this with them and customer service never got back to me. They are dishonest and in their ads portray this caring, personal process when it is not. Run!

Sent in my family home videos to Legacy Box in November, giving them 25 years of home videos and they lost them. They have not been helpful or transparent in the search. They say they are still looking for them, but I would not recommend their services to anyone.
I sent about 12 old cartridge videos to Legacy. I am very satisfied with how quickly they were processed and returned.
The digital download was perfect. I am now obsessed with watching the old videos of my girls when they were young.
So happy I decided to do this!
I sent LegacyBox three separate jobs. One of them was my father's old music tapes to digitize. They lost the tapes and the digital versions. I can deal with the long processing times but not with losing the memories that they claim to preserve. On top of losing the materials, their customer service never responded to the ticket I opened about the missing items. Awful customer support.
I was very impressed with my experience with Legacybox. I had plenty of time to organize my tapes and it was very easy to pack them up with the supplied box. I got them back in a timely fashion. There was one tape that they were unable to transfer due to mold and when I contacted customer service they were able to refer me to another company who did deal with the issue. All in all, we are really enjoying watching our memories and I really appreciate a company that takes the time to respond to me in a timely fashion with the answers I need. A great experience!

I spent over $350 on legacybox. Half of the order was returned with stickers saying they were "unable to scan this type of media". Rejected items included most 35mm slides! Problem is they did scan a few 35mm slides so I know the could have if they wanted. Now I've paid up front, waited 3 1/2 months and most of my items unscanned. Terrible company no matter what radio show they advertise on!

Legacy Box was easy to work with. I called Customer Support to make sure I understood what to do. Package arrived sooner than I expected. They kept me informed on the progress like they said they would. Only one small problem when I received the dvd's. I sent in 35mm slides and some of the slides were copied backwards. Since this was not an heirloom, it wasn't that big of a problem. I think a little more attention should be paid when it comes to slides. That's why 4 stars.
I mistakenly request a large box for 38+ items. I assumed they DEVELOPED and transferred film to a thumb drive or disk. My checking account was immediately charged $629.99 with additional fees that total $703.24. Within a day or two, I messaged Legacybox.com, stating that almost all of my order was undeveloped film. I requested a refund and after a few messages back & fourth, I was messaged that we would receive a refund will arrive in 5 to 10 days. It has been weeks and we haven't received any thing further or a refund. These images were from many years of family film. Our hope was that some photos would be able to be developed and transferred to usable media before our 50th wedding celebration on March 3rd. Please refund our $703.24, as this is a lot of money for a couple on social security.
I waited 4 months for Legacy box to copy 20 VHS tapes. Service is terrible and support is worse. You can find cheaper services and more efficient. COSCO copied my 8mm tapes in 10 days and was less expensive.

You don't get much for what you pay. Yes, they digitize your pictures, but you pay extra for discs, thumb drives, etc. The disc is in JPEG format, so it will not play on a TV even though their site says it will. Not worth the money or the frustration!
I only WISH they were ultimately able to provide me with digital files. That wasn't even an option. There weren't any options. My (annoyingly) numerous attempts to get a digital file or any kind of file was met with, "Sorry". Customer service was of no help. Rebekah P. I went to their site to take advantage of their advertised pricing for 50% off. Said 10 items "we do the rest, digitalizing your moments on thumb drive, could or DVD". Yet when you place the order it charges you an additional $19.99 for the DVD. I called them and they apologized for the misleading wording of their site, but would not honor the $130 price, saying to get the items on DVD, it was an additional $19.99

Legacybox made it easy to transfer our 40 vintage 8mm reels to digital. From packing the items to sending for transfer, receiving regular updates of status and now having the digital files has made it all worth it in saving our irreplaceable and invaluable memories. After organizing the 40 files in chronological order, totaling 3.5 hours of footage, I'm now creating a 1.5 hour highlight reel to premiere next year at 'viewing' event to share footage with family and cousins. It'll be a most special time when they see the footage of the many loved one's who are no longer with us. Answer: All Video and Film Transfers are done so at 480P. Additionally, we convert almost all consumer formats of videotapes, photos, film reels, and audio. Here's a full list of formats we can digitize: *Videotapes: VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, S-VHS-C, Betamax, Hi8, Digital8, Video8, MiniDV, HD MiniDV, and MicroMV A note on foreign tapes: We can convert most PAL and SECAM consumer format tapes. The only foreign format we cannot currently convert are PAL and SECAM Betamax tapes. Answer: Hi Judy, Great question! We ask that slides be grouped into sets of 25 (one item) either in an envelope or ziplock bag. We will provide small barcode stickers to apply to each bag of 25. Slides will be processed in numerical order, according to those barcodes. The order within each set of 25 is not guaranteed as there are alternate factors such as shipping where they could move around. The digital files are free from any copyrights so you can very easily re-order them however you'd like once you receive them back! It looks like from the cart page, you added an extra copy of discs, which is why you received one box with two sets of discs ordered. You actually ordered the most cost efficient way possible. If you take a look on our website, if you are between order sizes, instead of ordering multiple boxes, paying for multiple disc sets and paying shipping for two boxes, you can order down a size (which you did!) If you take a look through your welcome guide, we provide extra barcode stickers in case. You have more items than your order size. Extra items are a flat $15. There is no extra charge for shipping, discs or anything else. You simply include all 4 items in your box and when it is received by our team, we will send you an invoice via email for the extra items at $15 each.
