Don't go for the digital download option, you'll never find your files to download. I eventually got there, but it sure wasn't easy! How hard would it be to simply have a link on the main page to your digitized content?
And their customer service follow up ignores the question and responds with something completely irrelevant.
With the first 2 CD's we were ecstatic (we sent in 20 DVD's from when our kids were growing up) but after that, it was downhill. One CD had Howard Stern, showing butt and boobs, we never had that on any of our DVD's, another had a TV show we couldn't recognize, another had no sound, and 2 were all fuzzy. We have watched all our DVD's, many times, and we were looking so forward to having them again on CD's, especially the one where our daughter went down a slide and fumbled at the end... too funny... never got it. Thank goodness they return the DVD's, I will do it myself... somehow... or try our local photography shop... there goes another $200!
Followed all the steps to send film in for processing. When product was returned not all film transferred. Tried numerus times via text and message through their site but it has been 6 days with no return response from them. They take your money but don't deliver the product. Very frustrating and disappointed in the company.
I was so nervous sending my precious vhs tapes off to be transferred to DVD. Legacy Box exceeded my expectations. The whole process took less than two weeks and the end result was wonderful. Some of my VHS tapes were copies from old 8 mm film and although some minor portions were a little fuzzy the overall result was excellent.
I received my box and labels a week after I placed my order. Instructions were very easy to understand and follow. Actually I went to UPS and mailed the box with videos back today for processing. Now anxiously await their return along with the dvds. Hope and pray my investment is well worth it. Looking forward to the final results!
I learned about Legacy Box from an online ad. I used them once for 10 old family home films dating back to the 1920s. No one had looked at them in over 50 years. They back as digital copies that I can share with other family members. I liked the service so much I sent 20 more films to be digitized. I have also referred a cousin to the site who has many more family films and VHS tapes. I definitely recommend Legacy Box. - Miller Williams
The process to get from sending your media into LegacyBox to receiving the finished product can take some time but what you get in return will be worth the wait and the expense of transforming those memories into digital as future keepsakes! LegacyBox does not just take your memories and then ignore you until the process has been finished but keeps you updated on each step of the process and what to expect next. Whatever options that you may choose, LegacyBox has shown me that they are worth what you pay for!
We had 4 reels of super 8 film taken back in the early 70's converted to digital. Their great to look at and Legacybox made it easy to do. They provide all the information on how to process your order and made it seamless.
Magical I tell you. I chuckled as I pulled several VHS tapes from the garbage pile and sent them to Legacy Box. To my immense pleasure and mouth agape, I noticed each item returned were so clear! The best quality. I am still bragging to anyone who will listen. Thank you, Thank you most sincerely.
The media I submitted was over 60 years old and still they were able to convert a small portion of my wedding film so I will be able to share it with my children and grandchildren. Legacy Box was very diligent in keeping me updated on the process. I am very pleased with the results.
Legacy box tries to appear highly professional but is anything but. I got email "confirmation" that my order was received on 12/5 and have since received no further correspondence. Worried that they had lost my order, I called today and they said that it would take another 2-4 weeks to process because of the holidays... To be clear, my order contained 9 VCR tapes and 15 photos. I could literally have taken a class in night school, taught myself how to do these conversions, converted them, opened my own company and converted another 20 tapes in the time that it has taken them. When I questioned them, I had a snotty receptionist tell me that I was miscalculating the timeframe quoted originally and, instead of being helpful, she kept repeating incorrect dates. After she explained that everyone thinks their order is the most special one, I ended the call frustrated and extremely disappointed.
What a disappointment. I got better results with a cheap scanner I bought from Amazon. On the one hand, they did digitize some old video recordings. On the other hand, almost all the scans of my slides and 35 mm negative were out of focus and nothing was color corrected. I took about 10 weeks to receive my stuff back after sending it and the communication about the process was scant -- though I got plenty of marketing texts and e-mails.
LegacyBox is a complete waste of money. I'll either do the rest of my stuff on my own or use a different service.

I sent 10 tapes to legacy in March 2022. They said a 6 to 8 week turn around. I called every few weeks and completely understood they had a staffing issue but then 4 months later they said they would rush my job. Within 3 days my tapes were delivered to me. All in the wrong boxes. Nothing labeled, 2 tapes had no voice. Others I couldn't even tell who the people were. I literally cried. It was horrible. I can only say the customer service person was extremely nice and refunded me. He said they definitely rushed my job because he saw they did it in 3 days when something like that should have taken at least 7. I would rather have my memories and great quality rather then a refund but at least he did that. This is their specialty. I used CVS for one tape and they labeled it beautiful added music and put it in a nice container not like legacy in a piece of paper with no name. Beyond disappointed

We had ten old mini cassettes and didn't even know what was on them. What an awesome time we had sitting down and watching family birthday parties and Christmas mornings from many years ago. Worth every penny.
Hi Dennis! We are so happy to hear that we could assist in you reliving such precious memories. Thank you so much for the review and for using our service!
I sent a cassette of my music recital and a VHS of my wedding. Got them both back today. Nothing was done with the cassette - note said it was too damaged (despite getting e-mails that said 1 of my pieces was damaged, but not to worry!, they were fixing it free of charge!). The thumb drive has 15 minute of my wedding followed by 10 minutes of black/gray/silver boxes, followed by about another 7 minutes of wedding followed by 25+ minutes of the boses (I kept skipping forward a minute to see if they would stop - not). I spent $71.43 on this. Nothing of my music recital and a movie of parts of my wedding that is darker than the original ever was. Disgusted at the amount of money I wasted on this. Picture is a screen shot when I stopped the movie. Great wedding memories, right?
I researched on line the companies that digitize old film and photo media. Seems all the review complaints were of admin issues and others of expectations. I sent two 6 inch reels of 16 mm film for digitizing. I got a great deal on the (2) pack offer and recieved them back with the memory stick less than 4 weeks from ordering online to receiving the finished product. (the promise was 6-8 weeks) The reels were returned as sent and the digitized movies more than met expectations. I will be sending more in shortly for digitizing... Thank you for a flawless experience.
I purchased a Mother's Day special deal which cost $443.00.
At that time I provided the shipping information. I waited 8 weeks for the box to ship which it never arrived at my home as a gift to my wife. I was working for several months out of town and expected the box would arrive at my home.
After much effort which took several weeks and months I get an answer back that my $443.00 only purchased a coupon and I had to do something to redeem my coupon. I tried following their complicated procedure to redeem what I now found out to be a coupon. When I entered the "coupon code" It responded that my code was invalid.
I've tried many times to contact Legacybox and usually I don't get a response but when I do they give me the same directions on how to redeem my coupon which results in telling me my code is invalid.
DON'T USE THIS COMPANY
It seems I am just out the $443.00.
I'll be sending my THIRD legacy box tomorrow. This company knows how it is supposed to be done. They digitized by mother's 8mm films from 65 years ago. I will continue to use Legacybox and will always recommend them to family and friends.
I have used legacy box on three occasions. The product that I received back is exceptional. However their process is incredibly slow. I placed my last order on April 8 and it took almost 2 weeks to get my box to send my items. Then I received a message on May 5 that they had received my package so now it is approaching one month since I placed my order and my products have not even begun to process. They are typical turnaround time from order placed until items received is typically close to six weeks.
Hi Jimmy! We really appreciate the feedback. We have recently been ramping up our employment in our production facility to try to mitigate these longer that usual wait times. However, we are so happy to hear that you have enjoyed your final product!
Beware-do not send in your videos to Legacy Box if you are on a deadline. Their website clearly states it will take a few weeks but only after they have your tapes do you find out that it takes 6-8 weeks. I paid extra for overnight shipping and they didn't even bother to do that. I called everyday for 3 weeks and they had my tapes in house but couldn't actually locate them. Very poorly run company. Costco does it better and faster.
Answer: All Video and Film Transfers are done so at 480P. Additionally, we convert almost all consumer formats of videotapes, photos, film reels, and audio. Here's a full list of formats we can digitize: *Videotapes: VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, S-VHS-C, Betamax, Hi8, Digital8, Video8, MiniDV, HD MiniDV, and MicroMV A note on foreign tapes: We can convert most PAL and SECAM consumer format tapes. The only foreign format we cannot currently convert are PAL and SECAM Betamax tapes. Just put a note in your box if you have a PAL tape. *Film: 8mm, Super8,16mm, and Super16 A note on sound: Since sound on film is so rare, and to ensure we're providing the highest quality transfers, it is not our standard process to digitize film with sound. *Photos: 35mm Slides, Photo Prints (up to 8.5 x 11"), and 35mm Negatives A note on photo packaging: When sending in your photos, slides, or negatives, we ask that you remove them from any extraneous container, group them in bundles of 25 and place them in clear plastic ziplock bags or envelopes. *Audio: Standard Audio Cassette Tapes, Mini Cassettes, Micro Cassettes, and 1/4" Reel-to-Reel Audio If you have any more questions, let me know. I am happy to help!
Answer: Legacybox sends everything back to you along with any thumb drives, CD's you ordered.
Answer: No. Just went through this with them. It's a "tough luck" and they keep your money.
Answer: Nope. They took 3 months to tell me an item was "damaged" and then told me their refund policy was 20% or more of the media damaged to give any refund.
Answer: Hi Judy, Great question! We ask that slides be grouped into sets of 25 (one item) either in an envelope or ziplock bag. We will provide small barcode stickers to apply to each bag of 25. Slides will be processed in numerical order, according to those barcodes. The order within each set of 25 is not guaranteed as there are alternate factors such as shipping where they could move around. The digital files are free from any copyrights so you can very easily re-order them however you'd like once you receive them back! Please reach out to our customer service team for the fastest responses at questions@legacybox.com if there is anything else we can help you with!
