LawDepot Reviews Summary

The company enjoys a strong reputation for its user-friendly website and comprehensive document offerings, which customers find easy to navigate and understand. Many reviews highlight the affordability and efficiency of the services, with a particular emphasis on the thoroughness of the forms provided. However, some customers expressed frustration with payment processing issues, particularly the lack of support for certain credit cards, which led to additional calls for assistance. Overall, while the customer service is generally praised for its friendliness and helpfulness, addressing payment concerns could enhance the customer experience further.

I signed up for free trial, didn't get one email from lawdepot.ca until the billed me, and then got 7 emails in one day. Had they emailed Me a day before my free trial ended I would of cancelled. They wait to send emails cause until you've been billed to ensure they get one month of fees. Lawyers are the worst. I would not recommend this website due to unethical business practices.

Hello Pierre,

I am sorry for your disappointment. We did let you know twice through the check out process that it was a monthly subscription once the 1-week free trial is over. We then placed the date and time to cancel your account on the bottom of your receipt page that you had the option to print out. We immediately sent you a confirmation email with your account details and the date and time to cancel in bold print. We followed that up with a second email the day after your first charge.

The customer’s failure to read important terms and conditions or offers does not automatically become our responsibility. Our information is clear, easy to read and repeated in multiple locations for customers to review and understand.

We appreciate your feedback. Thank you for using LawDepot.

Hello SK,

I am sorry to hear your frustration. I believe you got the wrong company.
We provide Do-It-Yourself legal forms and documents online. The information that you entered will be stored in our secure servers and can be accessed only by signing in to your account. Additionally, the order process occurs through an encrypted connection. We use the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol with 128-bit encryption strength to transmit sensitive information. This is the same technology used in transmitting sensitive information by banks, governments, and online businesses such as Amazon.com and eBay. You can check our Privacy Policy available to you on our website.

Again, we are sorry to hear you had that kind of experience. Rest assured, LawDepot does NOT sell, trade or rent your name or personal information to anyone else. LawDepot® will not release your personal information to authorities unless required by law, search warrant, court order, subpoena, or fraud investigation.

I hope that clarifies everything.

I wanted to download a "free" will kit that this site offered. When I finished they wanted me to pay to be a member or pay $27 for the free will kit. Stupidly I paid $27 on what appeared to be a secure site. I then had over 20 attempts to withdraw money from my mastercard varying from $1.70 to $520. Fortunately I have a block on overseas transfers but had to cancel my bankcard and get a replacement. Someting very suspicious about this website!

Hello John,

I am sorry to hear your frustration. To clarify, our trial offer is free for one week. During that time, you can create, download and print as many documents as you need. You can cancel at any time and there is no obligation. You simply need to cancel the subscription by requesting the cancellation under Your Account or accessing live chat or phone and we'll cancel it for you within the seven-day window. You also receive an email recapping the offer details and the date and time to cancel by appearing in the email.

We do have you enter your credit card information for uninterrupted access to your documents. There are no charges to the card if the trial offer is cancelled within the seven-day trial period.

The information that you entered will be stored in our secure servers and can be accessed only by signing in to your account. Additionally, the order process occurs through an encrypted connection. We use the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol with 128-bit encryption strength to transmit sensitive information.

We do not attempt to charge random amounts reaching $520 as we do not have any services that cost that amount. We only charge you for the service you have selected on our site and its respective price, nothing else. You may have mixed us with a different company.

We appreciate your feedback. If you need clarifications with your LawDepot account, please contact Customer Support at 1-855-231-8424 Monday to Friday 8 am-7 pm ET.

I am a business consultant, I rarely write bad reviews, because as a business owner I understand things happen, many times it is not the business's fault.

HOWEVER, not this time. Rude, horrible customer service Supervisor. Was accusatory, chose to ignore system issues. I felt like I was a battered victim. In the end it was about getting me off the phone as soon as possible and not resolving their error, yet AGAIN. She felt I had NOT called and harassed them enough times to justify a correction on my account, YES SHE SAID THAT? Does not make sense at all. They charged me over $800 in error, my email LogIn would loop, even if I wanted to, I could not use the system, it would not allow me, however, they had no problems charging my account for almost 2-yrs... amounting in over $800 in charges to my credit card and refused to credit any of it back.

1st Time I called they couldn't find me in their system. So I filed through my credit card company, who said I had to talk to them.
2nd Time they were able to get me to log on, but I still couldn't use their service, it would loop me. I wasn't angry at this point, just figured if I was going to pay, then give me access. Requested refund for past charges and tried to log in. This time I could log in, but could not download. I found another company online to use.
3rd Time, I wanted resolution, enough is enough, I have been waiting on them to resolve and still nothing. I was greeted with rudeness and dismissiveness. They FINALLY canceled the subscription I never ordered or was able use. 2yrs $800 in charges to my credit card.

Hello Reina,

I am sorry to hear about the bad experience. I understand how frustrating it is to get denied by the manager with the expected results you wanted. Our records show you had a monthly subscription which we require a cancellation if you did not wish to continue. We have checked all the call logs, email, chat support and no data shows for any communication coming from you about a cancellation request for over two years. You may have called the incorrect company if you say you have spoken with someone and no known issues of our site for the past two years straight that one cannot cancel a subscription from their Account page. The only cancellation we have on file was earlier today, Feb 14,2022. A courtesy refund of $33.00 was approved and will post back to your account in 5 business days. Unfortunately, no other refunds will be provided at this time. We appreciate your feedback and we will continue to work on our site to improve all areas of service.

Instead of refunding my money for the transaction. They charged me a second time. Guy on the phone had said that i had contacted them within the time frame for the refund and that he would refund it. Then another lady "Tina" from customer support said that I did not contact them within the time frame and that it was my fault basically. I have the transaction stamps going through my credit card showing both transactions at (-$40.95) x 2. So instead of even receiving any subscription or refund, I was charged twice for nothing. For a law-based website, this is a joke. The people running the website, only care for your money. They programed a nice app. But if you contact me, I will write a partnership agreement for free.
It won't let me post a picture of my credit statement on here but these are the stamps.

Hello Rodregais,

I am sorry to hear about the bad experience with two of our Customer Support Agents. I have looked into your record and found out that there was only one charge for $40.95 and we have processed a refund which would take 5 business days to post back to your account. I understand you are seeing two charges on your bank statement. It may be that one is a pre-authorization charge and the other is an actual charge or you may have another account registered. In order to assist you further, please provide one of the following to email dgalvez@lawdepot.com:
- Email address associated with this account.
- Order number starting with LWS.
- First and last four digits of the credit card used for the purchase, name on the card and the date of purchase.

Again, we apologize for any inconvenience. We will continue to work on our site to improve all areas of service.

The contacts appear well organized, but the odd bug in creating contacts. I paid for a membership and then tried to create a contract., but it wouldn't render the contract after completing all the steps. So I contacted "live chat support, " and "Rebecca" joined the chat. She barely replied and did absolutely nothing to help. The chat stayed open without any word from "her" until she just ended the chat. I was polite and courteous until she disconnected from me without a word of help. I tried again connecting to live help chat. Again "Rebecca" joined the chat and never over replied.

Edit: I emailed support afterwards. They apologized and provided me with what I needed very, very promptly. So that was really good. I've updated my review to reflect that.

Hello Katy,

I am sorry for your misunderstanding on the offers on the site. The site explains the kind of services we offer before you decide which service you want to sign up for. A detailed information of your selection was posted before submitting order and your receipt shows your purchase information. After that, a follow up email confirmation was also sent to the email address that was registered. All of these information was provided to you so you would have a detailed explanation of what you signed up for. I am sorry if you failed to read and understand all that. Eyes Wide Open
November 9, 2021

We accessed Law Depot for one purpose, and found solutions for many business and personal documents. When I weigh the cost of involving a lawyer for consultations and agreements, against the monthly cost to access the portfolio of documents online, there is no comparison. I have since recommended Law Depot to other business owners, and I consider the subscription cost to be one of the best investments we made this year. I read many reviews that seem to indicate you wanted the one-time for-free document only, and you have been frustrated with the fact you triggered a monthly subscription. I guess my perspective is different, as nearly every month I find I am going back to the website to research how to craft a documentary solution to a business or personal problem. My lawyer charges $150 an hour for consultations, so its nice to be able to do my own due diligence and save the legal fees for when it really counts. As a small business owner, I am grateful for he quality documentation and hands-on user-friendly format of Law Depot. If I choose to cancel my subscription in the future, perhaps I too will find the cancellation process frustrating, but the site has literally saved my business thousands in legal fees and has provided us with credible documentation, contracts, and even corporate filing documents that make us look very professional. Thank you Law Depot.

Bait and Switch
September 25, 2021

They clearly state that the form you want is FREE. Well, sort of-only AFTER you have filled everything out you MUST give credit card information or you cannot get the form--it's a trial subscription that is technically free, but they hope (my opinion) you will forget to cancel and then get a bill for a month before you realize it. They write on first page, "Create, Edit and Print Your Document in Minutes " and "Once your legal document has been created and customized to fit your needs, it's yours! Save it, print it and share it with anyone you choose."

What they do not say is that you cannot "have it" and it is "not yours" without giving up CC info and opening a trial subscription. I hate bait and switch--I hate this kind of "got ya" promotion and I would not give lawdepot.com a dime becasue of these shenanigans.
