I have advocates who assisted me in seeking accommodations for disability. The property management has not allowed me to renew my lease, although I have a perfect record in rental payment and any of anything else I have related to the apartment where I live. Two days ago I received a 30 day notice without cause. My intention is to stay there long-term because it's a good apartment is plenty of space for me and I also have my own parking space for a handicap, which is very convenient to my apartment. However, I received a notice a 30 day notice to vacate and that my lease is not being renewed. My advocates spoke directly to the manager and requested 90 days instead of 30 days to accommodate my disability. However, the property manager would not extend the 30 days nor did they give a reason for that except that they don't make any exceptions for people with disabilities. I believe this is in direct conflict with the Fair Housing Act. The information that I received from the attorney who addressed this for me was very thorough and helpful. There are resources that I was given information to contact to seek assistance that I had no idea even existed. I sent everything to my advocates and hopefully they'll be able to act on that. I probably will still need legal assistance, but at least I have a direction in which to go and I have a clear understanding that my rights have been violated. It's good to have that validation.

I was doing my laundry with my brand new portable washing machine and panicked when I put the clothes in the spin tub and could not get it to spin. It took about 3 months of paperwork, verifications, and bank back-and-forth, but I got a big chunk of my money back. Not all of it, but way more than I thought I’d ever see again. If you’ve been scammed, don’t give up — there are people who can help, but be careful who you trust.
