"I'm sorry" is not tech support
February 11, 2023

Relationship started out great but quickly deteriorated. Yes they have available agents to help you with your questions but those agents do not have answers or resources to actually help. "I'm sorry" is a frequent refrain. Just because you gave support available doesn't mean it's support. Agents need to be able to have answers and help.

I paid for a service they could not set up correctly and when I asked for a refund for the services they said they couldn't refund since it had already been enabled. I questioned it since they knew in the system I had not been able to get the services activated for 6 days. No help. No refund. Just "I'm sorry there is nothing I can do. Is there anything else I can help you with today?" Seriously. You couldn't help me with the one thing I needed. I'm done with them. Small business owners beware.

Great provider
June 27, 2012

Great provider. Customer service rep is on the phone in less than a minute in most cases. I've seen lower prices (slightly) elsewhere, but I went with ipage after seeing a competitor's website with half dressed women all over the homepage and popups. I felt like I had to hide the monitor from the kids. Not cool.

Advice: Just get the basics. Don't get any add-ons. Need a shopping cart system, go with OpenCart.
Feel free to email me with any questions. I'd love to help.

Good...
October 29, 2016

I've used this site for some years, my experience has been good, not the best but still good, sometimes i feel there are some services not worth to be paid for, but still it's good to have options. Customer service is acceptable.

I use them as a hosting service (a site that I've updated maybe 3x in half a year...) and they registered my domain through GoDaddy and so far I've had no problems. I can't comment on uptime/downtime since I rarely visit and I have basically no outside visitors; it's more of a placeholder in case I ever want to do something. But they do offer cheap hosting, when I signed up around $4.99 a month. The first time I signed up, they double charged me for a service because of their confusing forms (my mistake) but when I contacted their customer service, they refunded both charges very shortly. One thing I noticed, if you use Paypal, their payments will get withdrawn as automatic billing yearly or whatever plan you chose when you signed up. BE sure to either cancel if you don't want your site or change plans if you have to. Just don't forget you have a site somewhere for years... In addition, if you delete your site from them - it's gone forever, so make backups.

I needed to get a local non-profit up and running with a website and new web host in the matter of a few months and still work my real day job. After extensive searching I came to the conclusion that iPage was the web company to go with. With that said I started to develop the website and after about 2 weeks was very happy with the Admin page and all the different things we could do. We have a store to sell memorabilia, we have slide shows, photo albums, contact page, PDf's to download, connected to Google maps, and many other bells and whistles. The tech help is good and usually help the first time. They stated a price, which was really a good one - and that's the price it really was, no hidden costs at all. We are very happy with them as our web host and website building admin. They are great! Visit our non-profit website and take a look... www.spokanelilacfestival.org

I had my site set to not automatically renew. Today I got a charge from paypal for over $550. I immediately disputed the charge. I attempted to contact ipage but its useless. You can only do chat and the person on the other end is intentionally useless. Ipage/Bluehost is owned by Clearlake Capital. Its hard to understand why a company as large as Clearlake Capital Group would allow subsideries to rip off customers. I have sent correspondence to Clearlake Capital Group to see if i can get some insight. I would absolutely recommend not to deal with ipage/bluehost.

There seems to be a common theme: They charge you for a renewal well in advance of your annual expiration date. In addition, if you look at your account and billing info, it tells you your expiration date but says nothing about their policy of charging you 15 days in advance, which they trot out when you notice a middle of the night email saying you've been charged and call them to cancel and get a refund. Can't be any more deceptive than that! Even worse, they charged me before the 15 days! It's time to get a class action against this fraud!

Bad tech support
April 9, 2023

Very poor tech support. I asked to upgrade my plan to add Google Workspaces. They canceled my hosting plan and added Google workspaces. Now I can't use my website anymore. Had to contact them several times to get my hosting plan back. Wasted several hours doing that multiple times. I still don't have it back. I was a customer for 15 years. Moving to a different vendor now.

I went on You-Tube to find the least expensive ways to get a business phone, email, and website. They suggested I-page as the best website builder. Logging in alone was a phone call every time, and they always pointed me to an incognito website to log in. Long story short, horrible experience, and they still owe me $112 for a refund from 2 weeks ago? You get what you pay for!

This company is a trap!
July 25, 2022

Be very careful with these people. Long after you cancel the service they bang you for 500 bucks for a "renewal" 6 years later for a dead web site. I cancelled the day that they assessed the charge by email and was "told" that email doesn't count. You have to do it by phone.

I have been using ipage for 2 years. I would like to say that It isn't bad hosting company but they have issues. There are downtime more often. Their price isn't best. I found cheap hosting else where and much better.

Do not pay single penny to them. They cheat you immediately after the payment. We took unlimited bandwidth plan and they suspended our account stating we crossed the bandwidth limit. Typical and groundless reason

The company www.ipage.com wasn’t as great as I thought to. They promised faster load times and their packages weren’t as good as they described them. As well as all prices were wrong. I have asked the rep to provide new price list, but the rep promised and hasn’t sent it. It wasn’t what I expected, but I paid them money and received services. I decided that it was last time, when I have had any deals with these guys.

I purchased the services of Ipage website design in July as of mid October I have a website that is finaly online and and in need of further corrections. After 15 or twenty calls to customer service and as the website developer he said he did not get a email from me reguarding a matter related to as what feature to offer on the website.
Upon talking to his supervisor on a recorded phone call as was the call with the person developing the website they said they would correct the problem. My advice based on my experience with them is not to do business with them, at least for website development.

I recently had an extremely unpleasant experience with iPage, which has left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. I strongly advise against using their services due to their unprofessional conduct and lack of consideration for their customers.

Firstly, without any prior notice or warning, iPage billed me a staggering $234 without my knowledge or consent. I was shocked to discover this excessive charge on my bank statement. This disregard for transparency and fiscal responsibility is simply unacceptable.

Upon realizing this unauthorized charge, I decided to cancel my subscription immediately, hoping to resolve the issue promptly. Unfortunately, this decision turned out to be an even more regrettable move, as cancelling my account with iPage caused me to lose all of my hard work.

The fact that iPage operates their cancellation process in a way that erases all content created using their platform showcases their utter disregard for their customers' efforts. It is beyond comprehension that a company would prioritize this bureaucratic process over the valuable content that their customers have invested time and effort into creating.

Additionally, throughout my entire experience, iPage displayed a lack of customer support and assistance. I reached out to their customer service team multiple times seeking an explanation and resolution, but received nothing but vague and unhelpful responses. Their unresponsiveness only adds to the growing list of reasons why I cannot recommend iPage to anyone.

Given iPage's complete disregard for customer satisfaction, lack of transparency regarding billing, and their willingness to jeopardize their customers' efforts without remorse, I strongly advise against using their services. There are numerous other web hosting providers available that prioritize customer support and value their users' work. Save yourself the trouble and seek alternatives that prioritize their customers' needs and have a better track record in terms of integrity and professionalism.

I have three websites hosted with iPage. They are AWFUL. Just keep researching other hosts. You don't want these clowns despite other reviews which just look at features/price and don't actually use the hosting for the 1+ year needed to experience these problems. IPage screws up my SSL certificate renewal EVERY year, for EVERY website, which renders the websites unusable for 1-3 days EVERY time when the SSL certificate expires. (at this moment www.22ndStreet.Show is down. My "incident" was escalated to 2nd tier support which will take 24-48 hours until they fix the problem that they caused) This happens despite my trying to prevent it from happening by reaching out a few days before the expiration/renewal. I'm assured that either "everything will be fine" or "we can't do anything until the SSL cert expires". This has been going on for 7+ years. The SSL renewals have NEVER gone without an outage. You get polite support from the tech reps but they don't know what they are doing because the problems repeat over and over and over. You get a different explanation each time you call in. So why have I stayed with such incompetence for the better part of a decade? Because I am afraid that if I jump ship it will be to something worse. Sad huh?
