They are just so scammy and unpleasant. Customer support is barely existent, the product (MyWebsiteNow) is absolutely god awful with so little customisation. Had cancelled my contract but continued to be billed and when I called them, they agreed it was a mistake and cancelled, only for me to continue receiving bills and when I try to contact them again they essentially have no memory of telling me it should have been cancelled. Avoid them like the plague, they will harass you and waste hours of your life, literally any other option is better, just DO NOT USE THEM.
I moved about 70 domains and 15 websites from GoDaddy which after many years there, we discovered malware and our sites were frequently down, we moved everything to ionos 1 and 1 on a developer's recommendation. Within a few months we discovered ionos charging for more than 40 hosting plans on those domains I never asked for. All of the invoices looked identical with no domain name on them so there is no way to know what the invoices were for. The accounting is a mess, no way to truly clear it up without hiring an accountant. After a partial refund, they continued to send invoices for erroneous services. Then you can't talk to anyone, "it is in a system" they email you. Moved everything again the Host Gator which has defective email servers. ABSOLUTELY STAY AWAY FROM IONOS 1 and 1!
First of all, like all domain sellers, the price of renewing after a year will be far higher than you paid, so make sure you set a reminder to cancel
Next, beware of hidden charges that will be added to your account. For example, they added 'WP Business' which I assume is Wordpress, but I never asked for it. Cost £9.60 per month!
Can you cancel? No. You have to wait a year

I have been using their products for years and without any problem, until yesterday, I bought some domains and today I have not received any answer, but they do deduct the money from the bank. Since this order is through a new account, I have no way to contact them, basically because they didn't assign me an account and I don't even have a phone number since I don't have the contact PIN.
If you looking for reliable hosting choose IONOS and Thank me later! The speed is fast, the 24/7 service is real, they will call you back If you need assistance within minutes and they always solve all the issues, have this service for years and I didn't have a problem at all.
This companys inflexible internal processes make it impossible for them to solve even very simple problems without exorbitant downtime and hassle on the part of the customer. They are cheap but ultimately dont deliver any value. I recommend you go elsewhere.
First of all their customer service is absolutely atrocious! Most of them have no idea what they are talking about. You get transfered multiple times for one simple question. They will NEVER transfer you to a supervisor even if your issue isn't resolved. Emails go down A LOT. Just don't do it. We eventually went to GoDaddy. They are slightly more expensive but worth every penny. Every person I have spoken with there is helpful and they obviously know what they are talking about. Seems like GoDaddy hires educated people and IONOS just hires people right off the street.
Everything that they supply, after the leading prices of domains, is charged as an extra. Even then, in my opinion, we are 'led' into their enticing offers of extras (often essentials) with an intro price for the following period (eg. 1st month, 1st year, etc) followed by a huge increase in costs for the same item for all subsequent periods.
I was an original 1and1 customer and quite satisfied with their service and pricing. Now, I am most disappointed with their service, support and prices. Looking for a new domain host as the situation is unlikely to improve.
I really really do not recommend this service.
I've ordered a VPS server and waited about 15 hours to get confirmation. When I finally got it, I couldn't access my VPS because it was logging me out every time.
Support said I should wait additional 24-48 hours to review my account again and do some $#*! idc.
There are many alternatives, don't waste your time on this. Have a great day.
Absolutely the worst company in existence I highly recommend you stay as far away as possible i have bin charged 9 times for a single transaction totaling over $200 and everytime i call they hang up or transfer mr and then hang up i recommend anything other then them can't believe this is a real company at this point im going to have to change my banking information as I can't even close the account because they have to do so but they just keep hanging up so disgusting there customer service
Basically, I have been trying to cancel services with them for a couple months now. Knowing the renewal time was coming up I canceled everything online yet I was still billed after this. I called to cancel and get my refund - was told it would happen, it didn't. 2 weeks later I call again explaining what is going on and they hang up on me.
Deceptive pricing & poor support. Initially cost about half as much as competitors, ended up paying 3x as much as better web host services. Their support "team" also doesn't know how to properly communicate via phone or email. Definitely would NOT recommend.
These fools keep calling my number over and over and they NEVER EVER leave a message so I have no idea what they even want! When I call them back they can't tell me why they called me?! What is wrong with these people? Like a bunch of children who decided to go into business but have no idea what they are doing or how to use a phone properly. Cancelling my account with them!
1st of all, They waste my time money and do nothing. This company does not have clarity in sending invoices, as I can see amounts are deducted without my consent, and they also give promises to solve problems and technical problems are not solved. I have called them over the past four days, almost every day, for more than an hour, an international phone call, because of technical problem related to the internal system in this company but nothing resolved. I do not advise anyone to deal with this company
Very poor business practices who lie about their contracted services in order to get business. Spoke to one of their sales people on the phone who sold a monthly contract. Specifically asked if it could be cancelled at any time and was told that it could. When i tried to cancel because it was a poor service, was told that it had to be paid for for a year. Avoid, there are better companies out there.
I took a free of charge. co.uk domain for one year from these scammers. They then tried to take money even though the domain was transferred to another registrar within the free one year. £12 became £27 as they passed the fictitious debt to another dodgy company called Arvato for collection. They have been doing this for years and need to be exposed. Nasty bunch of fraudsters!
The worst hosting service out there. Their cancellation policies are annoying, they make you jump through so many hoops all in an attempt to keep you on and confuse you, just to keep billing you. Its very aggravating.
They make cancelling very difficult and you think you have cancelled but you have not partly my fault for not looking at the date on the email. But when you press cancel on their website without 3 days of the contract you expect it to be cancelled. Then you get rude response from them, they said they have taken all the charges away now. We will see IONOS!
I've used 1and1 for the last several years and have not encountered any major problems except for a service outage that lasted several days a few years ago.
On the downside, their tech support appears to be outsourced to India. Some of the techies are impossible to understand and some are quite stupid. On the other hand, I haven't needed much in the way of tech support due to the problem-free nature of their service.
My sites are relatively low traffic, so I don't know how 1and1 is for sites with heavy traffic.
All in all and knowing what I do now, I probably would use a different service if I were just starting out but, as things are going OK now, I'm not likely to switch.
I was a new customer trying to find my way around their confusing packages. I paid for a few and left it as that so that I could sort out what I wanted to put on it. There is a certain time to renew or cancel your subscription I was one day late and was charged. I called them and asked if they could just show some leniency but I was bluntly told I could not and had to pay. I do hope you can be more lenient to your new customers, as I was even taken to debt collectors! I paid the amount but shan't be heading your way again.
