Went onto Instacart ordered all items that were IN STOCK! Yes, toilet paper was one of them, ordered a total of 4 items just enough money so our shipping was free. Some of the items we could have waited on but, we ordered as they were items we use and were again... IN STOCK! Just before they shipped it my husband got an email saying NO toilet paper (which I'm sure you can understand was our main goal as we have 2 rolls left) and another item wasn't in stock so they were shipping him something as a substitue. It was Bounce FREE, we use Bonunce with a fragrance. My husband who has no clue was trying to work agreed to this and we were charged a delivery charge and $30.00 for a tube of toothpaste, box of bounce and cotton swabs for your face! I am horrified and extremely angry that this company could advertise products that are unavailable and price gouge like this. NEVER AGAIN! Don't bother with Instacart, I've never been so disappointed or felt taken advantage of. Total opposite of being grateful for any support at a time like this!
You can't believe them when they indicate they will deliver your food on a certain date. They wont and you will not know if and when they will deliver the food you ordered. Not a reliable company.
First of all, they incessantly text you through the shopping experience, so do not make the mistake of thinking you are saving time and can work on anything else while the shopping is being done. My major complaint, though, is about a pick-up order I had scheduled. The app is ridiculously slow, so letting them know I was on my way didn't work. I was already in the store parking lot several minutes before I could get through and let them know I was there. After about ten minutes I received a message that no one was available -in my reserved time slot- to bring out my order, so I had to go in the store. The entire reason I used the service was to NOT go in the store! There was no option on the app for me to decline this request, so I drove home and got on an online chat with customer service. After nearly an hour I was told that I would receive complimentary delivery of my order by 9PM. Did I mention my initial pick-up window was 1-2 PM? Shortly after ending the chat I received a text that my order was cancelled. The total time that I spent completing the order, chatting with the shopper, going to the store, and communicating with customer service has been over three hours. The amount of stress is immense, though the number of grocery items I have received is zero. Shop at stores that provide their own curbside pick-up, as this outside company is awful.
This service is a rip off. I paid my initial $9,99 monthly charge for free delivery. 9 days went by with no order delivered. It takes days to get a delivery window then nobody shows up. Then you get another promise for delivery with the same result, no show. Plus they put a $340 hold on my account to cover my order. This hold has not been lifted even after I cancelled the service. Good like trying to get customer support. It's non-existent. STAY AWAY!
We ordered our groceries ON SATURDAY, DID THE FAST AND FLEXIBLE DELIVERY. WAS TOLD DELIVERY WOULD BE THURSDAY EVENING. WE WAITED AND WAITED. WE GOT A MESSAGE AT 8-30 THAT IT WAS CANCELLED! WE FIGURED THEY WOULD PUT US AT PRIORITY FOR FRIDAY MORNING. NOTHING! WE WERE ABLE TO PUT OUR ORDER BACK IN THE CART. STILL TODAY NO DELIVERY TIMES AVAILABLE! THEY SUCK!
I placed an order on Mar. 28 with Instacart but when delivered the representative claimed that my order could not be completely filled because there was insufficient funds. The amount approved for the order on my credit card was $117. The store receipt was $37.15 however Instacart charged $97.67 to my card. I have tried to contact them by phone and the wait time increases while I'm on hold. I've sent two emails but haven't heard from them.
This site is HORRIBLE! I placed a order and understood it may take time due to pandemic it said 1 week, I was ok with that then the site said delivery with in 5 hours Saturday morning by Saturday afternoon it said delivery between 3-8 at 8pm it said delivery between the 13-17 another week that was not ok it was a 600.00 order and my family needed that. Now I'm fighting them to Give me my money
Placed on order on Tuesday, the 7th of April for the next available delivery date of April 12th. They emailed me at 9:35pm and cancelled my order. I would never use them
First and LAST time using instacart. $260 worth of groceries + another $100 in tip + all the different fees and we received spoiled food that went straight the trash and other items we gave away to neighbors.
Dill visibly spoiled inside the clear package that went straight into the trash. It looked like it had been sitting in sewer water. Brown liquid was leaking out. It actually made me mad the checker sold this to anyone.

Pea soup instead of veggie broth
Coffee creamer instead of non-dairy milk
Mango concentrate for fresh pressed OJ.
Sour cream for tofutti (we're plant based. Very specific to not sub this)
But the most interesting of all - the turkey lean cuisines. We're vegan AND we didn't ask for anything from the frozen food section. They weren't subbed for anything but our driver picked up several and we were charged for them.
The items I asked to NOT be subbed out were subbed.
The items that were listed as purchased were all exchanged for something else and not noted as such.
No one responded from instacart. With more than 2,000 people ahead of me each time I tried to speak to someone my guess is other experiences were the same.

I placed orders two separate times for pickup FOUR to FIVE days later. Not for delivery. Not even for pickup the next day, and both times these orders could not be fulfilled. And I got the messages from Instacart the same day I was scheduled to go pick up my items. Today I got an email from the company inviting me to place an order, and the only supermarket that is in the program does not have any dates any time soon.
I hate having to send someone to pick up groceries for me, so I figured that at least ordering for delivery would minimize the health risks for this person. I AM DONE TRYING INSTACART.
We are currently at the height of Covid19 in the surrounding Boston area. In our senior years we decided to try Instacart. Our shopper arrived with the bags no gloves or mask. The latter is now required in public. She said no they don't give her any protective gear or hand sanitizer. Well end of this overpriced dangerous experience. Shame on you Instacart and Shopper you could at least wear a home made mask when you do public deliveries. No confidence in Instacart. Will take our chances at the store.
I am going to link as many news stations as possible to the Instacart's Facebook page so they can see what is happening to consumers at the hands of this company.
They said shipping was free the first time and even showed it on the preliminary receipt; then they charged me $7.99. Their customer service is a joke. After emailing four times in the last month and receiving the same four emails back I tied to call. The wait times ranged from 90 to 167 minutes or I was told they weren't available even in the middle of a weekday. Unfortunately, until this pandemic is over there isn't much choice except getting this horrible service and rotten produce. The doctor told me to stay home.
I decided to give this a try and they failed on their first try! They delivered to wrong house, did not tell me they delivered items so who knows how long items (including ice cream) were sitting at my neighbors house! Once they saw that most of what I ordered was not going to be available, they should have provided an option to postpone my order. I had not used them before so after the umpteenth text saying item was "refunded" from order, they need to have a guideline to say do you wish to continue? Why would I want to pay an average of $1.00 per item delivered? That's what it ended up being by the time my order got pared down to only six items! When my neighbor guessed it was for us and delivered it, the order had stuff we did not even order! I have zero interest in using these people again. I only wish I had read the reviews first!
Every time I use these people they mark up the prices by 30% or more and when I call/text them they end the chat and tell me it's ok because it's allowed,,, SCUMBAGS
The person said it was delivered, but it never came. When we called their support and waited 2 hours to talk to someone the customer support person said the groceries were checked out. They refunded our $400, but now we have to start the order somewhere else. I will never use Wegmans and Instacart again.
We placed an order to instacart and Publix. The driver pictured brought us our order but there ws no Easter ham that we ordered. She said she was going back to Publix and get it and she never returned. So we have no Easter dinner on this Sunday because this insta cart driver lied and never came back with our ham for Hour Easter dinner. I will never use instacart again customer service did nothing for me except they we're issuing me a credit the cost of a ham on a future order. Let me make this clear I will never use the service again because the way we were treated by the driver and then by instacart customer service, obviously they do not care about their customers!
Poor communication. Cancelled order after waiting for a week. Cancelled after sending me a text stating that it was going to get done today but 1 hour before stores close, sent another text letting me know that order was canceled. Very poor system
I ordered incorrectly and didn't realize it until too late but have heard nothing but the best from others about how great Instacart is. I plan on using them from now on and referring them to others. Carlos Andres was so sweet and helpful!
Took my money on the flex delivery then three days later cancelled at 8pm on Easter Saturday, screwing my family for Easter Sunday. Scam, no way to complain, phone lines dont work and noone emails back. Avoid dont use put them out of business!
Answer: Instacart does not give you the sale prices from the store. So if the peanut butter is 3.50 on sale. Instacart will charge you 4.80 regular price. Their prices are all over the board but on average you are paying 20% more.
Answer: You can't! The only way I got a response from them was when they emailed me to rate my driver and I gave a bad review for her and Instacart. I got an email back. Otherwise, there is no Customer Service! I tried everything under the "Help" section and got nowhere!
Answer: Seriously? They have already scientifically proven that is not spread that way. How many strangers & kids and semi drivers and warehouse people touch your stuff before it even leaves the store.
Answer: No, they don't by policy. But I've found they don't deliver anything else either. Last two orders were cancelled. I dumped my account and told them to keep the gift card balance. Done with InstaCart.
