If your order is $39.99 and Instacart charges you $50.00, and tells you that a "temporary hold was placed for an amount over your total receipt", isn't that fraud? They keep the extra money for a number of days (doesn't matter if it is one or seven) and then they say the $50.00 charge will go away and the real price of $39.99 will appear on your bank statement. That is ten dollars they take from you, that you have no guarantee you'll get back and that they get to use, for whatever amount of time it may be. If you multiply those ten bucks by whatever number of daily transactions they do every day, it must be in the millions!
I was saving money using them until today! My InstaCart subtotal was only $69 and change, and even after a replacement was made, it should have remained the same or less. My delivery guy provided the paper receipt, which showed a $66.97 subtotal. But InstaCart proceeded to charge me $75.47 subtotal. So after fees, I paid $95 instead of $86-$87. Their customer service is terrible on top of it, and there's ALWAYS excuses as to why their coupons don't work! I'm going back to Walmart grocery pickup!
It's like when you contact them for an issue they just run around in circles and never really help you to solve your issue. Like many others my receipt was accidentally left in my bag which (1 is unusual that we never get our receipts in the first place?) second of all i've contacted them about this numerous times but they always say "the retailer sets their price"? Okay and regardless I was still charged less on the receipt that the actual instacart receipt so i'm not sure why i can't get the money back? Some shady business going on. Firstly they need to start putting the receipts in the bag because i'm pretty sure this is how they get over on people. This app really needs some change
I order things got half of them, emailed as soon as I found out, said they will give me a CREDIT OF $13, missing items were over$35, said I wanted refund for the missing items, said they would put money back on the card, instead ran my card twice, STILL never got Anything. DON'T USE.
Thieves! Stole $70 worth of items and we were told that there was nothing that they could do about it. Will never use instacart again! Dishonest company with no moral remorse.
The idea of Instacart is great, but they fail miserably in practice. I make one order of about fifty items per week. I've done this about twenty times now (yes, I keep hoping it will get better) but my shoppers usually find about half of the items I've ordered, and substitute or refund me for the other half. Sometimes they attempt to make substitutions that I can live with, sometimes they don't. Today, for instance, I ordered some parmesan cheese at $0.62 per ounce and she substituted a lower-quality cheese at $1.11 per ounce, but hey -- I need cheese!
Charge your card for amount PLUS put a hold on it. Then if you add any items to order after you paid using ebt they charge your debit! But it doesn't tell you that anywhere BEFORE you do it!
Customer service is a joke they don't help
Tried for the first time they never delivered groceries charged my account kept calling customer service got nowhere was in the middle of cooking dinner I'm single mom 4 kids waiting for a couple items to finish dinner they had me under impression that groceries were coming an hour and a half after the groceries were supposed to be delivered got a message say ing that they were delivered and they were not wouldnt be till after 9 pm till they could get groceries out to me again which means kids wouldnt ne eating till 10 pm on a school night when I placed order at 2 pm for 2 hr delivery and they still have my money stay away horrible place
Tonight was my first time using this app. What a rip off, I was over charged, actually charged twice and when connecting with chat it was the worse unprofessional experience ever. Of course I did not receive any logical explanation for the error or any solution. I was making a ebt food purchase and my bank card was charged 20.00 twice? Why was my bank card charged at all? Misinformation states free delivery for first time ordering. LIES! STAY AWAY FROM THIS APP! I will be contacting them every day until my money is returned!
I couldn't set up my account! Then I received a call supposed to help on my account. (Scam) They got all my information and changed the updated the phone number to their number and started to buy at Publix with my information.
I've tried several time with chat support but nothing changed.
Horrible company
If you need help with an order by chatting or calling Instacart, don't waste your time. The agents on chat don't always read your messages, and when they do, they don't always solve your problem. Calling them is not much better. I haven't been able to view my existing orders. They say work is in progress with their "platform." That is an urgent issue but this reason continues to be given out week after week!
I not going to explain the problems that I had with instacart. Read the other reviews. I am will contact my credit card company and describe to them. My credit card company is savvy. They have found problems with companies before I realized that there were problems. It will be interesting to hear what they do or know. I will assume instacart presently has some credibility as my card did allow them to put charges on it.

I joined a 2 week free trial with Instacart. Worse service ever my order was 50% mixed up. The delivery guy just dropped groceries off on porch, never rang doorbell or knocked on door, no call before delivery to say he was 10 minutes away. I emailed to explain what was wrong, their 3 day email return reply did not even address the issue at hand. 4 more emails, and all I received was a credit for something I did not order. To further add to this hot mess, they billed my credit card $121. For something I'm not even sure of. When I called to request they put money back on my card, I was informed they could not!?
Never have I dealt with such incompetence. After 4 hours 3 phone calls, I think ( not sure thus is resolved). I would hot even give them one star but I had to. I do not recommend this service.
I have ordered from them a few times. While I love you get your purchases the sane day. I don't like that they charge more for items from the stores than the actual store. And also they need to make better times when it comes to those doing delivery for them. I have. Family member who delivered items for 2 people separate times. One person asked for contactless delivery they took a picture of the person purchase told. Them. Wherw they left it. Only for them to tell instacart they didn't get there purchase. First time they suspended her account for 48 hours even after finding out the customer got their purchases. And a different customer did the same thing. Only this time they suspended her.
This platform should be banned from the market, I use to be a shopper, I had to update my phone number in the system, for some reason I've mistyped it, and later on, I tried to log in, it gives me error message, i called their customer service, and tolled them about what's happened to me, I give them all of the information to authenticate that i'm the account holder, no one was able to help me, and the last one i chatted with, said to me clearly THERE IS NO BODY THAT CAN ASSIST YOU. So my question is this, why just instacart have a customer service...?
What's the purpose of having a customer service team?
Why you can have a duplicates accounts? A school boy can design a database better than those so called programmer in instacart.
Why this app gets always stuck? The QA team failed to do the right job as it suppose to be

I received a $115 charge on my Amex. I ordered a $50 of groceries (for what should've been $30 Max!) and there were $20 of charges (tax, delivery fee, tip). I called them to ask about the excess charge and after 30 min of run around, was told they don't see the order so they can't send me the receipt. I asked then how can you charge me anything for an order you don't have a record of? The man said he can offer me $5 for "appeasement." I asked to speak to a supervisor or someone who has the authority to research the records for the order and he said I can hang up and call back and hope to get another customer service rep. Basically, if you want to give them the ability to charge what they want without the opportunity to see your receipt or question charges, then go ahead and use them. Otherwise, buyer beware!

He couldnt find 3 items. They ask replace with a pic of similar items or accept refund. I asked for replacement and a picture. Never answered on all three. Items texted multiple times while shopping. He checked out without a reply.
Then ya know the map shows where they are with the delivery time... well he sat 2 miles away from me for 20 mins. Didnt move. Then icon moved complete opposite direction.
He claimed he was next to me and could find me. I texted where are you, why did you call me why didnt you text me to find me? And wheres my order.
No response.
I called instacart customer service. He called and called could not reach driver.
After 10 more mins, driver said he had to go home and ask father for directions? REALLY?
WHY NO CALL TO ME OR TEXT OR A BUSINESS... WHY 30 MINS AWAY FROM ME?
I also just bout the yearly membership right before this order.
Michael in customer service just said sorry a 100xs... I was furious because the story was absurd. He even read the texts I kept sending Malik, and just said sorry... now 2 hours later my cold food is warm. But finally got here.

They charged me a delivery fee, service fee, heavy order fee, taxes, and delivery tip just to deliver groceries. NEVER AGAIN!
They give me no option of same day delivery when I order, I have to call back and request same day delivery. Sometimes I have to make a second phone call because the delivery did not arrive at the time promised
If it was not because of the pandemic I would never use them.
During the pandemic, I've been using InstacCRAP because 1) I do not want to get COVID, and 2) I have heart failure, which puts me in the vulnerable category regarding health issues. In the year since I started with Instacrap, I'd had nothing but problems with them. The customer service is horrible. I've both called them and used their text helpline on their website. I swear that 90% of the CSRs I've dealt with either don't fully understand English or they just don't give a damn. I've had to repeat my question/problem SEVERAL times each time and they act like they don't know what I'm talking or texting about! It feels like all I do is keep repeating the problem in as many ways as I can to make it easier for the CSR to understand what the problem is and then they still don't get it! I have literally been on the phone or texting with CSRs for HOURS over various problems that I'm seeking an answer for. Literally HOURS! Instacrap should be paying ME to use their stupid company. But a better idea is that Instacrap should be investigated by the Commerce Commission/Department of Commerce in Washington. If the pandemic wasn't going on and if I had gotten my vax already, I would never use Instacrap again and will NEVER recommend Instacrap to anyone.
Answer: Instacart does not give you the sale prices from the store. So if the peanut butter is 3.50 on sale. Instacart will charge you 4.80 regular price. Their prices are all over the board but on average you are paying 20% more.
Answer: You can't! The only way I got a response from them was when they emailed me to rate my driver and I gave a bad review for her and Instacart. I got an email back. Otherwise, there is no Customer Service! I tried everything under the "Help" section and got nowhere!
Answer: Seriously? They have already scientifically proven that is not spread that way. How many strangers & kids and semi drivers and warehouse people touch your stuff before it even leaves the store.
Answer: No, they don't by policy. But I've found they don't deliver anything else either. Last two orders were cancelled. I dumped my account and told them to keep the gift card balance. Done with InstaCart.
