I tried instacart for the first time on Saturday, April 3rd just because I was trying to save time and get a few items for Easter Sunday. The items were Easter candy for my grandkids and rhubarb to make a pie for our Easter dessert. They promised me delivery at 6:00 PM. Well 6:00 came and then it was 6:45, then 7:45 until my husband finally called them. They said they were short on shoppers. Well than why did you take my order and promise me a delivery of 6:00 PM? Of course I knew this was going to go badly because I doubted at this point the items I ordered were even available. My husband calls them and they give us a $5 credit to use next time. Why would I ever use them again! I told him to go to the store where we were supposed to get these items. They promised us a delivery of 9:00 PM. I also did not realize I should have selected the senior option because we were seniors. He goes to the Fred Meyer and they have none of the items I was supposed to be getting at 9:00. No one had even shopped for my items. Of course we canceled our order, guess I shouldn't have because there was no way they were making any delivery to us. What a joke! So after 2 hours of driving to Fred Meyer talking to management there who could do nothing or find any of the items I had ordered my husband left and went to Safeway where they also did have these items. So no dessert for Easter dinner and no candy for my grandkids. Thanks Instacart you are a piece of work and made a promise you could never fulfill. You probably could have if you had shopped when I placed the order but you are short of shoppers the day before Easter. I called today and spoke with Thabisco who was unwilling to let me talk to a supervisor. He gave me another $10.00 for all my trouble. Wow! I would never use them again. It took my husband 2 hours the night before Easter to try to make it right. Please don't ever use this service, they are terrible and don't make any effort at all to make things right. Lesson learned and you have been warned. Oh the other cool thing it takes them 5 to 10 days to return your money to you.

OVER CHARGED ON EVERY ITEM! Such a scam and they tried to tell me I added up the cost wrong. Untrustworthy company. They are trying to steal your money.

Buying $56 worth of groceries at ShopRite (a great supermarket chain) was the excuse Instacart used to deduct $100 from my bank account. When I telephoned Instacart's "helpline" the operator could barely speack English, had her headset microphone so close to her mouth it sounded like she was underwater and when I told her my problem, she could not fins my account and hung up on me. The next "Helpline" operator couldn't find my phone number (the one I was calling on,) or my cellphone number (which was on my account) or any account for me and chastised me for sounding angry. He also could not explain why my bank statement showed that Instacart had deducted $100 from my bank account. Liars, thieves, con-artists and frauds hiring minimum wage, non-English speaking "customer service" reps and charging you THROUGH THE ROOF. Stay away!

Missing Items

I have used this service several times in the hopes that the shopper can make sure to shop for my items only. But this never happens. I always get someone else's items and are missing most of mine. Once I receive my credit from today's order I am deleting the app. Never will use this service again.

Ordered items before Good Friday. Was scheduled 1-3 that sat. Completed order with shopper. Keep getting 4 delayed order tines. After 745 no delivery contact customer service they said have shortage of shoppers and delivery. But was talking to shopper completed order. What happen to her? Paced on hold disconnected then called back then got email that order rescheduled for Monday day after Easter. Instacart sent out email on Thursday don't forget to order before Easter due to stores not open. The Instacart service said sorry will schedule it for Easter 10-12. How stores are not open. Of course another email order was scheduled for mom by 12 am? How stores r not open? And had Herve to give me $ 5 credit havre continuous git emails on Easter tell us your issue screwed up my Easter

I ordered 43 items from Kroger's. I received 10 items. When I called they had no idea what was shipped and where the rest of my order was. I spoke with a supervisor? Tim. He was rude and had no customer service skills. Don't use this so called service.

Instacart Fails
March 28, 2021

Twice this week I have ordered from Ralph's and used Instacart and twice the cold food has been cool, on the verge of being warm and melted ice cream. The 2 hour window took more than 2 hours in both cases. I understand maybe being busy or not enough employees, but with the cold food being on the verge of being warm is not acceptable. Instacart needs to be accountable!

A scam

Was promised a refund for a $40 gift card I purchased for my boyfriend who is housebound with COVID. He informed me he doesn't use Instacart (no I see why) and I tried to cancel the gift card I purchased. I was told this would be NO problem as long as I contacted customer service via email and explained the situation... so I did

After being promised a refund, spending hours on the phone with representative and emailing customer service, and bring promised a full refund by 2 representatives, I am now being told they "don't do refunds." Sad that they are trying to scam people out of their own money during a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. Do yourselves a favor and pay for services that actually care about their customers and willing to work FOR and WITH you, not against you.

They over charge

They over charge me.my receipt says 145.00 an I was charged twice for 1 item that was 9.99. So my order really was 135.00 but I paid 190.00 the hold on my card was for 205.00 so I gave the driver an 11.00 tip I received free delivery an my service fee was 14.00 that comes to 160.00 what happened to the other 30 dollars I emailed an call an they said I was charged correctly wish I could add a picture of my receipt. This was my first an last time using this app

If I could give this a negative 10 I would! You will be overcharged roughly an additional 32%! SCAM
They will not refund you. They will blame the market or you! I just went to my store and was told that the paper receipt is what was charged to Instacart and not the more than $60 they overcharged me. Buyer beware this is a huge ripoff!

I AM DONE FOREVER

I use Instacart because I have a condition that doesn't allow me to drive. When I first used it it was great, because I got a two week free trial. Although I complained to my friends that they text you the entire time they are shopping, I was kinda joking. It's just like when Isend my husband to the store... lol. Then when I was paying for delivery it started to get worse and worse. I won't bore you with the details but fast forward to 6 months later... which would be today... I ordered 3 wines and a pack of Guinness. Let's start with the fact that they text me when the person starts shopping... ok... should take about 10 mins to grab that. An hour later I get a text that they have checked out and are on their way. I live 1.2 miles away from the Publix. (I know I should've just walked there). So 45 minutes later I get a text saying they are headed towards my house... wtf were they doing? THENNNNN. I had asked for Cupcake Prosecco which was $12. They replaced it with La Marca at $21. When I had the free trial if they were out of something the shopper would text and send pics of the shelves to show me what was available. Long story not so short... my purchases should've been $48. My credit card was charged $81. F*ck instacart. I'll pay an Uber driver to take me to Publix next time.

Terrible

Terrible. They used to be great and easy to communicate with. Now they are just so unreliable. Almost every time I shop things are out of stock even though they allow you to select and pay for them. And the shoppers are difficult to get a hold of in time. They used to communicate with you and update you about brands out of stock and replacement options, now they just either refund you without asking or they get you an entirely different item. Like one time I ordered Coke Zero and even selected the "don't replace this item" and the store was out of stock, so instead the shopper decided to get Diet Coke which is an ENTIRELY different flavor (one that I dislike) and checked out before I could tell the shopper I didn't want it. Things like that happen frequently so you're paying for items you don't even want! Might as well go to the store yourself if that's going to happen!

Today the last straw was me picking a specific specialty store for specialty items and they were out of all of them including the replacements. I had spent $100 on items that weren't even available. And the customer service reps couldn't care less about helping you or offering credits. I was a very devout Instacart user for years and they just lost a valuable customer.

Edit: now that my blood has stopped boiling! WHY have coupons that you can't use with EBT?! In a PANDEMIC!? It's such a shame because some of these recent shoppers have been so awesome! It's INSTACART that is horrible! Every single order has been problematic. Done.

I have been shopping via instacart for 3 years.
After one year they suddenly "deactivated my account". After speaking with CS several times... still unable to resolve... so, I used a second email account... all went well until last wk & gee, the same thing happened.
Again, send emails to as well as speaking to CS numerous times. They were helpful but said they could not help me, it would be send to "security" to send me a link. Link unable to open.
NOW... third (and final) attempt... opened one more email acct, loaded my cart & bing was told my acct deactivated yet again. No problems with my credit cards, I used 2 different valid ones & still unable to log in... oh yes, changed PW as prompted by them also. So NOW,. I am unable to use Instacart at all after using for 3 years. NO ONE can helo.me resolve this issue.

My first order from Instacart was wrong. They delivered a flavor of gumbo base that I did not want. I didn't complain because I thought it could have been my mistake. Once more, in mid January, I ordered some items. They delivered the wrong item... I ordered CLR lime and scale deposit remover. They delivered CLR mold and mildew remover. I ordered 18 count large eggs, 5 eggs were broken. The delivery person was also the shopper. She came to my door and just plopped everything down and sped off. I complained and they said they would refund $18.00. I forgot to check my bank statement and just now realized they never have my money back but instead gave me a credit. Now they say I waited too long. THIS IS A RIP-OFF COMPANY. DO NOT USE THEM.

I was a shopper for less than a week. I had a great rapport with my clients as i personally texted them with each and every substitution, and never had a single complaint. Then the weekend came, and my account was deactivated for no reason. I was told to refer to an email i never received as to why, or to contact shopper support through the app, but there was no 'headset' icon to contact them through. I have tried again and again to reach them through emails, support, and any link i can find to contact them, but get the same runaround to contact them through the enail i never received or yhe link that doesn't work. I can't what clients have to suffer through. As a University student i thought this would be a great way to make money. Worst support system I've ever encountered.

Waited 3 hour Friday night for my $100 order I really needed. The store is 2 miles away. The fees and tip are ridiculous. At 8pm they basically said 2 bad I have to wait another 3 hours Saturday morning 8am. Or get a refund in 7 to 10 days. This is the worst delivery service i have ever used. So unreasonable and unprofessional.
