In addition to the tip, which is important, customers are charged a service fee which varies according to the amount of the bill. I spent $125.and I was charged $11 and change for service fee, that's too much. Whole foods charges less than $10 fixed fee and the customer gets the items in a few hours. I've gotten my items with Instacart on the following day., Which I don't really mind, the service fee is just too much.
Only tried them once and never will again. The reason I went to them was their "same day delivery". I was waiting on an order from another service that wouldn't arrive till two more days. I needed food NOW.
So I placed my first order with Instacart via their web site. They gave me a delivery time of 3 hours from when I placed the order. About 6:30 pm,
6:30 came and went and I got an email saying they were running late. Delivery pushed back to 8:10. I could wait that long.
Make a long story short, they pushed it back again to 9:30, said my shopper had to leave so they gave it to another shopper. Oops, make it 10:30.
In the meantime the price of my order had sunk from $79 to $55, with NO EXPLANATION. I assumed some items were not available ($25 worth of items) but all the things I ordered were still on the list of my order. No explanation.
I was pretty much done there, but I decided to call their help line. I was on hold for 45 minutes and no one ever picked up.
I downloaded the app because they kept saying in the emails that if I wanted "real time" updated and further details I needed to use the app. The app told me nothing about why the order total had changed. In addition, it told me my delivery had been rescheduled for "tomorrow - sometime before 11 am". Could be 7 am I guess and they would have woken me from a sound sleep, but more likely I would've gotten an email after 11 am that due to unusual volume, my order would be there at 3 pm.
I didn't stick around to find out.
Canceled. And they tell me it's going to take 5-10 business days to get the refund of the money they already charged my credit card.
Great people. Just great. And I'm still hungry.
This company steals your tips. They steal your tips. They steal your tips. They steal your tips. They steal.
Ordered Groceries to be delivered. All was pulled for the order but items were added that I didn't authorize. To make matters worse the shopper stole my order. Says it was delivered and when I noticed nothing was there I got in contact with Instacart and they tried calling the driver multiple times to no avail. I feel like I shouldn't be charged for anything regarding this order all I got was a 15 dollar credit and we will deliver your items tomorrow. I will not be using Instacart ever again. Horrible experience.
The last 5 deliveries have been left out side of my building. I liver on the 16th floor. I gave instructions to deliver my items to my front door of my apartment, I also gave them my phone number just in case they had a problem with my delivery. I would come down stairs and help with the delivery They never have a shopping cart for the delivery, So I would bring my cart down with me. These drivers don't care about there work habits. Instacart does not check to see if their driveres are doing there job. I will never use this company ever again.
I used Instacart on December 17th with Meijer. My order was like $50. I kept checking in just in case my shopper, Emilie needed to communicate with me. I went on there and my order was at $220 because the items were either 3x, 4x or 5x of what I ordered. I reached out to my shopper and she said there was a glitch in the system and it'll be back up and running. I'm like ok because I know Instacart has its moments. The next thing I knew she had checked out and 8 mins later said my items were delivered. I was livid because I'm out of work due to surgery. The representative was nice and he was like we can reimburse for the overcharge and have someone deliver the items that were NEVER delivered. Nope give me my whole $220 back. This was by far the worst experience. I had another issue with them overcharging me $30 at Kroger. I just finally got that back 3 weeks later. I erased all my info, closed my account and deactivated. I won't ever use them again. Now, I have to go out and about in my medical boot because now I don't trust any delivery service outside of the mail delivery.
They took my $15.00 hold for a $3.00 item and would absolutely not give me my money. They are scammers! Beware!
Absolute Incompetence- & they want 20 bucks an hour.
It is amazing how the gig workers even manage to live life. If they lived the way they pick/delivered food then Darwin would have won.
On numerous occasions my food is incorrect; cold or frozen goods on the shelf instead of cooler or freezer. I get bad produce or damaged goods.
Stay far away from this company and its absolute incompetent workers.
I placed an order from a specialty store in Philadelphia. I knew Instacart overcharges, but had dear friends coming over for New Year's Eve and no way to get to the store. I placed the order Wednesday morning to be delivered Thursday afternoon--NYE is Friday. They texted that the order was complete and only one item was not available. Next text was the order was on its way for 2:00 pm. Next Text was that the order was delayed and would arrive at 3:00. Then a shopper texted that my order was already complete and picked up. I was confused, so I called Instacart and was assured it was fine and that someone other than the original shopper would deliver the order. Next text was that my order was rescheduled for January 4th. I called back and all I got were scripted apologies and "there's nothing they can do." I spoke with a manager and got the same response. They made it sound like the company has zero control over shoppers, they don't know which store shoppers are in, and they can't get in touch with them. If that's true, it's a really poor business model. I suspect it's not true and they just don't care about customers. Never again!
I live in Chicago, and I would give ANYTHING to have Peapod back! Instacart is literally the WORST company I have EVER done business with in my life. Seriously, the drivers DO NOT CARE if you get your order, if they left it at the wrong place, or if they deliver it AT ALL! There's no recourse, but to be given a credit to buy MORE groceries from them! They don't make drivers go back to make things right. Nothing. And, that's if your groceries even make it to your desired destination.
Then, let's talk about the lazy customer service, shall we? Literally, all they say over and over is, "I'm sorry." They do NOTHING to help you! Instacart needs to cut bait and sell to Amazon. They are HORRIBLE at logistics! So, get out of the logistics business, because you SUCK! Just awful. Don't bother, at least in Chicago!
I ordered four items from Instacart, last week. While using the interface is simple/easy, and the feedback regarding the status of your order is good, they delivered half of what I ordered, and no explanation was given. I reached out to them via the app and their website to find out why they simply failed to deliver half of my items, and it took them three days to finally respond to my (multiple) inquiries. This is totally unacceptable -- terrible customer support!
I ordered from stater brothers and my order was delivered to the wrong address! Happened 2 times same night! Ridiculous! And all they could do is refund and give a 15 credit! Never received 2 orders back to back after the 1st mess up! Ridiculous! Deleting the app and will never be using again and this was only 3rd time using the app!
Couldn't deliver to my out of state Aunt in a nursing home on Christmas eve. Even though the order said deliver 3-5 pm. get a text at 6:30 pm saying they would deliver Dec 27th 7-10am instead. Was to late for me to order her Christmas eve dinner!
My order was being pushed back and wanted to see if there was a way for them to see if they were going to get my order to me, and there wasn't much they could do other than, wait, reorder, or cancel. Me having covid I was thinking instacart was a good way to quarantine. Well not the most happy with their service and customer service. I understand things are out of each individuals hands, but customer service should have other people health in mind.
Instacart does not do background checks, they also don't drug test. Seen people on heroin and meth doing the shopping, also seen parent forcing children as low as 6 years old to do most of the shopping so adult can do more accounts at once and work which is against child labor laws. Alot of Instacart employees abandon carts which damage cold goods making them unsellable. Insta should be more professional having to do with people interacting with food and people's home... They also need to stop asking employees where everything is and to do the job they were hired for. Employees are there to stock the shelveS. Not shop for Instacart!
I can order groceries through the Instacart app on my phone, but when I try it on my computer, they give me the fields from which to select fire hydrants, traffic lights, hills, etc., etc. I do that, but it keeps giving me more selections and finally tells me that I've failed the test. That's ridiculous; I selected fire hydrants, chimneys, whatever, perfectly. There's something really wrong with the Instacart website.
I put in an order on 12/21 (five days ago) that said it would be delivered that day by 7pm. The delivery time kept getting pushed back every 30 min to 9:30pm and then I was told the food wouldn't arrive until 12/26,5 days later but it still never arrived. I was also told I would get a response from the company within 24 hours and still never heard back. Instacart should not make claims for things they cannot commit to. We have now been out of groceries this past week with COVID and no way to get food. Not to mention, even when Instacart says "free delivery," they upcharge the items online vs what's in store and charge you a service fee that amounts to more than 20% more than in store costs. Would not recommend to any family or friends, would give a lower rating if possible.
Instacart delivered wrong groceries, I texted and called within minutes but was told they could not call driver. I have bags of groceries I will throw out, thinking folks on other end will do the same. Dumb business decision when we are all trying to reduce waste. Just call the person and have it re-delivered
Am an actual shopper, instacart has been stealing my tips, also am almost at a100 orders and all of them except for 2 are 5 stars for my great service and communication and getting to the homes on time. Not to long ago a customer reported her missing well thats not my fault if they steal your groceries, my guess she called and complained and gave them 1 star, but what bothers me and find ugly that the customer gave the 1 star to the actual company not me the shopper and tbey somehow apply it on me... also this company gives time to shoppers to shop as if they where in a race... awful company to work for
My mother ordered instacart we just renewed yearly subscription its Christmas eve expected steaks on the grill tonight and baked potato the person delivered every thing but main items never called never said any thing but accepted a large Christmas tip and when gone found out no main dinner items for dinner tonight there goes my Christmas thanks intstacart
Answer: Instacart does not give you the sale prices from the store. So if the peanut butter is 3.50 on sale. Instacart will charge you 4.80 regular price. Their prices are all over the board but on average you are paying 20% more.
Answer: You can't! The only way I got a response from them was when they emailed me to rate my driver and I gave a bad review for her and Instacart. I got an email back. Otherwise, there is no Customer Service! I tried everything under the "Help" section and got nowhere!
Answer: Seriously? They have already scientifically proven that is not spread that way. How many strangers & kids and semi drivers and warehouse people touch your stuff before it even leaves the store.
Answer: No, they don't by policy. But I've found they don't deliver anything else either. Last two orders were cancelled. I dumped my account and told them to keep the gift card balance. Done with InstaCart.
