Indeed has a rating of 1.5 stars from 978 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Indeed most frequently mention customer service, small business and employer account. Indeed ranks 132nd among Recruiting sites.
I am an employer. I posted jobs with indeed and got ripped off. They charge a very high click rate and then try to swindle you into there optimizer. They also post a free duplicate ad on the same page that only promotes their site while your ad goes un-noticed. They don't provide any value or candidates. Warning to all employers don't use indeed they will charge you a fortune and give you nothing in return.
Our company's account was disabled for posting jobs that are "advertisements for direct sales or marketing positions that may be misleading or intentionally vague." - Not quite sure how posting a job for a Corporate Counsel team member is either of those. We do not hire for direct sales jobs or marketing positions with this description. Working with Jessica and a couple others on the client specialist team was no help and I've sent 3 follow up emails and I am currently being ignored. We are a small company and this incredibly dissatisfying, especially since we have been using indeed for a few years with no prior issues.
This job search website is one that actually works for me. I've used it twice and both times it worked for me. Shortly after posting my resume on here, I received emails and calls regarding job interviews from both head hunters and prospective employer. Site is easy to navigate and their job filter is amazing.
We set up an employer account last night, uploaded billing information today, filled out all the necessary information but tonight received a notification that our account has been disabled. The reason provided states "one or more of the jobs you posted to Indeed.com was deemed not consistent with Indeed's quality standards". Not sure what their quality standards are as we answered all the questions and provided as many details as possible.
We figured we would give indeed a try but after this occurrence, we will return to ziprecruiter as this has been a waste of time and effort.
Hi there, a member of our team has followed up with you by private message to provide more details. Thank you.
I assisted my CEO in creating a job post to find some candidates to interview immediately. The first day went well, we had 3 candidates that we contacted. Few days later (today) we go on to see if we have any more candidates & there's nothing. Our job is gone. Doesn't even show that we posted one. (when we did, sponsored as well). We would like to get it up & running again as we have limited time. Some help would be fantastic. We were very excited to be successful with Indeed on the first day we posted the job. We would like to continue & find more candidates.
Hi Megan, thank you for reaching out! We've contacted you via SiteJabber Private Message to further assist with your account.
I would give them zero stars! We had a paid account for over 4 years and all of a sudden Indeed closed our account. They asked us to provide proof of who our clients are which we provided them with (Big mistake) because now it has been brought to our attention that their salespeople have contacted our clients directly and offered for them to place their jobs on indeed directly! If you are a recruitment agency BEWARE of Indeed, they will steal your clients!
Hi Jess, thank you for taking the time to leave Indeed a review. We would like to learn more about this situation and have sent you a private message. Please feel free to follow up with us there.
We are a small motel looking for potential candidates as we are reopening after the lockdown. Our account got suspended without any verification or notification. I wasted 2 hours to post the job details and ended up with a disabled account. I am still unclear of the mistake committed in my job posting. I used to love Indeed as an employee seeking jobs but this is an extremely unprofessional service as an employer.
Hello Clover, thank you for reaching out. A member of our team has responded to your review by private message.
I recently got disabled from using Indeed for a new account I opened, sent all appeals and original documents they asked for, yet their trust team kept saying they couldn't verify my document. I'm so angry and frustrated with the back & forth and I hope this issue is resolved because I need to hire candidates ASAP! Indeed please do the needful!
To explain, it is normal that all accounts will be reviewed as we must verify the connection between the account creator and the company they are hiring for. We must also ensure that our quality guidelines are met.
Please note: Indeed may reject or remove any job and may disable any Company's account, for any or no reason. We cannot give every reason why a job or a company may be removed, and we always retain the right to remove any job, organic or sponsored, if we feel it is in our interest or our users’ interest.
You can submit an appeal through your account. Please note that the review process typically takes 1 to 3 business days and our team will contact you when they have an update, or if they need additional information.
Can't understand what's wrong with this company. I just started using it as I am a recruiter but within a week they disabled my account citing account not accruing costs. I replied that if that's the case I am ready to pay and sponsor my jobs. But they have still not taken any action and seems my account has been disabled permanently.
Hello Sanchit, thank you for reaching out. A member of our team has responded to your review by private message. Please follow up with us there so we can further assist.
I recently posted a job through indeeds platform. I am a field sales manager for a 7.5 billion dollar company, and Indeed suspended my account from posting any jobs to find applicants and reaching great matches for this role, they give no accurate details as to why my account is disabled, and they have no customer service to assist. Very unprofessional especially coming from a a platform that is suppose to help people jump start their career. This seems to be a common theme. They need to reevaluate the way that they deem accounts valid. I am very upset and tend to take my recruiting elsewhere.
Hi Kalin, thank you for taking the time to leave Indeed a review. All accounts on Indeed go through a standard reviewing process. This review can happen at any time as well. Unfortunately, Indeed has fully reviewed your account and we are unable to show your listings on the site. Indeed or Publishers may reject or remove any Job Ad, and Indeed may disable any Employer’s account, for any or no reason without notice. Although Indeed may indicate why a job or account has been removed or disabled, we cannot give every reason why a job or a company may be removed, and we always retain the right to remove any job, organic or sponsored, if we feel it is in our interest or our users’ interest. If you have urgent hiring needs, we recommend utilizing other hiring services. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
Hello Indeed team,
I am using both sponsored and organic job postings based on our requirement. But without reason indeed deactivated my account. Please be little professional with corporate. I hired only few with indeed, cause quality profiles are not found. Despite we do sponsor and try our luck.
We are employers and suppose to except minimum reason for what the account is disabled. Please write us back on it.
Hello Dilip, thank you for reaching out. A member of our team has responded to your review by private message. Feel free to follow up with us there.
It's funny that Indeed claims to help people get jobs, but has PROHIBITED so many companies from using their site during a PANDEMIC. Indeed is not in the business to get people jobs. They're in the business of making money at whatever cost necessary. I created an account, PAID for their services, and had my account disabled within 24 hours. No warning was given. No explanation was given. I reached out to customer service about a refund and still haven't heard back. Want to hire people right now? Do yourself a favor and don't use Indeed.
Hi Nicole. Thank you for reaching out to bring this to our attention. We sent you a private message inquiring about details. We look forward to hearing from you!
Update 11/2/21: We communicated directly with Nicole and confirmed that the account was flagged for our routine review designed to protect job seekers and employers that all accounts are subject to, we also provided steps to appeal this decision with the aim of enabling the account again. Nicole did not want to proceed with this so we processed a full refund.
This website will delete, bad reviews for companies. When companies scam, rip off or don't pay their employees and reviews with reports of injuries. It's reviewing system is garbage it is talked about within its community forums, on reddit and other websites along these lines. Honestly, Indeed should be held accountable if a worker dies due it's decision unethical deletion of reviews, especially in dangerous jobs. A future employee deserves the right to know the good and bad stories of a company and definitely with in the dangerous jobs. Take screenshots of your reviews and post them In a subreddit, time to hold indeed accountable for future injuries that may occur because it protects companies with bad safety records and poor management. Be very careful and cautious when choosing jobs with good reviews... They probably been protected by indeed and the bot reviews were aloud to stay...
Hi Chris, a review will only be removed from appearing on an Indeed Company Page if the review violates any of our guidelines. When you have a moment please follow up with us by email at socialcare@indeed.com so we can have a closer look at this for you.
Pissed! I have provided indeed with all documentation to prove I'm a legitimate small business. I was deemed suitable for indeed and 2 months later they shut my account down.
I have spoken to indeed for 3 weeks or more and finally got the account back open for 1 day and they shut it down again!
SERIOUSLY INDEED….I have explained what I do repeatedly and provided my documentation. Are you targeting small businesses across the board or is just me. Maybe a class action suit needs to be brought against you.
I need you to open my account back up my clients depend on me.
Hi Deidra, all accounts and jobs are subject to our standard reviewing process. This review can occur at any time and can happen multiple times as well. The account has gone through our reviewing process, our team has concluded that we will not be able to show these openings in our search results and it will remain disabled. As the account has been disabled by Indeed you do not have the option to post a new position. Please note: Indeed may reject or remove any job and may disable any Company's account, for any or no reason. We cannot give every reason why a job or a company may be removed, and we always retain the right to remove any job, organic or sponsored, if we feel it is in our interest or our users’ interest. In order to preserve the integrity of our review process, we are not able to pass over the reasons that went towards this decision. Please note that your account is inactive and is not currently accruing costs. No further action is required on your part. No additional details regarding this decision have been provided. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. This is a final decision that will not be reversed. If you have urgent hiring needs, we highly suggest utilizing other hiring services.
I left an honest review for a company that I worked for almost 10 years. Review was rejected for no reason. It did not contain anything on the list of their reasons why it couldn't be posted, so unfortunately I cannot trust Indeed when it comes to reviews. I will be using more legit websites, such as Glassdoor.
Hi Bella, thank you for reaching out. All reviews on Indeed company pages are subject to a moderation process. The reviews are only removed if they do not abide by our posting guidelines. We have sent you a private message to learn more about this situation and how we can help.
Why Did Indeed disables my employer account?
Without any intimation how come Indeed can disable my employer account.
I'm already struggling with my business to hire employee's
Its really not the appropriate way to do.
I need indeed to enable my account immediately. I have posted the post within the standard community guidelines.
I'm damn sure that my account was disabled by mistake. I request indeed to enable my account immediately.
Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave Indeed a review. It appears your account is going through our standard review process and we need additional information on the business to proceed. We would be happy to walk you through the next steps of this process and have privately messaged you. We look forward to assisting you.
I will never use Indeed again! I was overcharged, I tried to cancel my ads several times in email and discussions with Indeed personnel and still received huge monthly bills. Even though I had specific requirements for my jobs, I consistently received unqualified candidates.
I do not recommend Indeed if you are looking for the right candidates.
UPDATE 4/11: After discussing this account further with the client, we provided a refund of the requested amount, $68.52 to the employer's credit card.
I was not sure if I could have the time to complete 1 or 2 surveys a month when I first started. Doing a few here and there added up to enough to pay a bill I had due. Easy and didn't even realize I was making so Much. Extra Debt, no worries you can get Extra Cash here to pay bills. I had enough to transfer into my account to pay the bill on time. They were quick to transfer the cash I earned in just a few weeks!.
I recently applied for Burton Law Firm, Carl's Jr., and Soft File via Indeed. After I submitted my application, Indeed notifies me I have to take a fifteen minute assessment test. These tests are a waste of time. Indeed notifies job seekers only after the submission process is complete that they are required to take a test.
Hi Nigel, we believe Indeed Assessments gives candidates the opportunity to showcase their relevant knowledge and skills for the related job posting. Please keep in mind that assessments are chosen and used by each employer individually advertising on Indeed. We are not involved in the hiring process and we're not able to control or combine the amount of assessments you may need to take. We apologize for the inconvenience here and we would be happy to pass along your feedback.
My company tried on a few different occasions to advertise Physician jobs on indeed. It procures 100% bogus, totally unqualified applicants. If you like wasting your time reviewing resumes from fast food workers then have at it. Indeed's response is to raise you ppc so we did. Within 20 minutes we received 3 more bogus applications and 300 visitors which caused them to go over our daily budget by 1200%. The resolutions from our account rep is completely unacceptable. This is by far the worst job search engine on the planet. WHY DO PEOPLE USE THIS CRAP?
Answer: Hello Anita, positions posted for free stay on Indeed for a total of 120 days. Sponsored positions can stay on the site until an employer has filled the job and closed it on Indeed.

Answer: Hello Gerard, sorry for the negative experience. Indeed recently augmented existing search quality programs with new, ongoing strategies to make sure all jobs on Indeed meet standards for quality. This effort included a large scale review of job listings. Jobs that violated our guidelines and companies that did not meet our quality standards were disabled. We apologize that this was a frustrating process for you and will provide this feedback to our Search Quality team for future improvements.
Answer: By NO MEANS should you pursue this so-called job offer further and in fact, you should report them to the Better Business Bureau.
