ID.me simplifies how individuals prove and share their identity online. The ID.me secure digital identity network has over 98 million members, as well as partnerships with 30 states, 10 federal agencies, and over 500 name-brand retailers.
The company provides identity proofing, authentication and community verification for organizations across sectors. The company's technology meets the federal standards for consumer authentication and is approved as a NIST 800-63-3 IAL2 / AAL2 conformant credential service provider by the Kantara Initiative. ID.me's Identity Gateway also has a Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Moderate Authority to Operate (ATO). ID.me is the only provider with video chat and is committed to "No Identity Left Behind" to enable all people to have a secure digital identity.
The company has garnered a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in its identity verification service, which many users found secure and efficient, particularly praising the helpfulness of customer service during video calls. However, significant concerns were raised regarding the complexity of the verification process, which some customers found frustrating and time-consuming, particularly older users or those with unique identification issues. Additionally, delays and technical difficulties, including issues with document acceptance and login credentials, have led to dissatisfaction among several users. Overall, while the service is valued for its security, improvements in user experience and support are essential.

I am a senior citizen with a brain injury. I am
Technically challenged. So I found opening the account difficult
I love traveling so I made an account on this website and the rental cars are really affordable.
It's quick & easy & definitely secure which is where my less than Great title comes from. I think that if they created a question with a couple options as to how long they keep your Bio ID vs having you go through a lengthy process or allowing the 36 months default time to expire that would make it GREAT. It's not like you haven't been BIO ID'd. So adding that to the acceptance/acknowledgment box would be the perfect place & time. Other than that it's a wonderful service. No complaints.
Excelente por el momento estoy familiarizándome con el servicio
I was not at all happy with my experience with ID.me it left me in an extreme financial hardship that I am now faced with. Which I believe was unnecessary and could very well have been avoided.
Once I was actually helped the process went rather quick and smooth, however I am still left with cleaning up a mess I feel should never have become to begin with.
It's very safe, secure, effective and easy to use. I'd.me makes you feel at ease while giving your sensitive and private personal information.
To little given for what they ask for in regards to personal information. I am a veteran and I made them aware when i signed up. This process asked for even more personal information. Not fond of companies asking for personal information regarding my military rank, branch and time of service. I have my veterans ID card and that should be sufficient.
I'd me Agent was professional made sure to ask if anyone was around that I didn't want to have access to my Information. It was quick and easy highly recommend
I feel like I had a good learning experience, When I started my application with Id.me I was a little confused but Id.me is very fast to respond and that made it much more
Easier for me to keep submitting my documents that finish my application successfully.
I was able to put my information in with less than 5 minutes and was able to find every w2 from every year I worked
Every time I use ID ME there's always a catch. This update was time consuming and I didn't feel anymore "secure". With ID me and the VA and it's like apps; it has become such a pain in the $#*!. Sorry to swear but it really needs a vivid description of how difficult it is to use ID ME with various apps. I feel ID ME is good at scamming corporations and the government into the "next evolution of internet security". Truly it's a waste of time in my opinion. I hope you all are paid really well for all the difficulties you created at the user level every few months.
It was extremely unbelievable. Because it took only a short time to get my transcript which could have taken not less than a week to get them by mail. This made me to be very happy.
This "service" that none of us asked for or wants is extremely invasive, and far more tedious and time-consuming than you'll expect. Who the heck is this company, and why should you trust them with a *lot* of your sensitive private data? Including your credit report and everything it exposes, which is part of what they intend to root around in, though they're not very upfront about it.
There's no reason to trust this little-known company.
EVEN if there intentions are as they claim, and they don't plan to commercially exploit you beyond this (NOT a given), you have no reason to believe they're actually capable of keeping your data secure.
Of course they'll claim they will. Every corporation claims that, right up until they're hacked and have to send you a letter that "your sensitive personal data may have been exposed."
As a little-known company, ID.me is much less likely to have the capital resources to actually invest in the level of cybersecurity and other safeguards to truly protect your data.
So whoever forced you to use this shady "ID.me" service is forcing you to put yourself at risk of identify theft and credit theft, simply for their own convenience. (Because the lowest-cost provider is always the most "convenient," right?) What we should be asking is why didn't they use a more reliable, proven option.
Bottom line: Do not trust this small-time company that sees your personal data and credit history as a way for to make money for themselves, at your expense.
The most difficult online experience I've ever had. Redundant, difficult, unfriendly, etc. All of this to get thru to the IRS.gov website. The IRS site was pleasantly easy, but getting there thru ID, was horrible.
