The terms and conditions indicate they keep biometric data for 7 years even though during the process it tells you the photos will be deleted afterwards. So which is it? I'm more likely to believe what the attorneys wrote which is the info will be held for 7 years. I should not be forced to use such a service to view my IRS data.

I have been trying to verify my identity with ID.me for a few weeks now. Due to countless attempts of taking photos of my identification documents along with a selfie and phone number assigned to me, I was forced to verify my identity by a video call with an ID.me representative. She was able to confirm my identity, however, I wasn't happy about how this system wasn't allowing me to do it without being forced to have a stranger tell me who I was.

So many hoops to jump through for it not to work as intended, facial recognition just doesn't work well. Maybe fingerprint when getting a license and then use of the smartphone's biometric scanner? Anything other than the current system you are using.
