I first got the ID.me card to use at Lowes discount store. Since then have found other places to get the VA discount.
A few things about the plastic card that I carry. Wish it had a photo. Also wish that it looked more like the military ID just a different color or striped as such.
I had a problem with my id.me account which I tried for almost a year to recover. One video call directly with an agent from id.me quickly cleared my problem. I would definitely recommend going directly to id.me if you have any issues with your identity.

I set up two factor authentication and the web UI created a terrible experience. I ended up having to use my phone along with my computer with a lot of context switching between the two devices and tabs in both web browsers. And after everything I ended up not being able to use a passkey - so I still have to tap a checkbox, get a text message and type in a code. I use I'd.me to login to ssa.gov and it's just really clumsy
Having jumped through all the unnecessary loops only to find out that my identity is still not verifiable...
