I entered all the information perfectly, which took about 10 minutes. In the final minute, it asked for my phone number, and I entered it correctly, yet it dead-ended my entire sign-up process saying the phone number does not match records. Um, false. My only recourse was to start all over and do the live agent method, which takes twice as long. Oh well, I thought at least I'm finished. Nope. After that, I went to the Virginia Employment Commision website to log in using my new ID.me credentials, and it would not log me in, saying the SS# that ID.me auto filled (which I could not see because it shows as all dots) does not seem to match my identity. Since that SS# field is auto filled, you can't even click on it. Checkmate. Tomorrow morning I'm going to have to waste an hour or 2 trying to get tech support from a human to fix this mess. ID.me already attempted to let their bot respond to my help ticket, and you can imagine how well that went.
When I first used this service, it worked seamlessly. The second time through, it failed miserably. The server was either too slow or non-responsive. And there is no way to contact a real person by phone or chat. All you can do is file a trouble ticket and sulk. They need to dedicate more resources on web servers and real people to support customers from all over the country.

Had to use it for a government agency and while I felt uncomfortable because it required key documents with personal information after checking, reviewing and trying to find how scam-able it might be, it seemed authentic and ultimately was impressed at how thorough, and security oriented it turned out to be. Just be ready, if you were glasses to take them off and possible encounter frustration going through, be patient. Once through access was instantaneous and that was great.

I hate that we live in an age where things like ID.me is the new norm. I find it disgusting. No offense to any of their employees, but if I had my way, I would never use ID.me again.
I was applying for a apartment and I needed to upload my benefit letter and after talking to 4 social security representative they told me that I needed an activation code which would take 10 days by mail. 1 representative told me about ID.me it sounded too easy to be true and I couldnt believe noone told me about it so I tried it and it was easy and I was able to upload my benefit letter to the apartment which saved my life.
