If you don't have a laptop or PC with a camera, it is next to impossible to connect to an agent. Very Annoying
All in all, experience wasn't bad. I am very uneasy about the level of personal information sharing over a network and expected data storage of information. Received letter basically mandating i go through the process (otherwise no tax refund). Gathering documents wasn't bad since i am myself. Waiting was frustrating since it was dependent on a live agent being available. Again, process not too bad but I don't care much for the collection of a variety of my personal information in one digital setting.
I mean I thought I sent enough proof to begin with. I guess my pictures of my ID weren't good enough. I'm glad I was able to get help once the agent video chatted with me. If anything I've been out of work for a long time and I highly doubt I'll be working s 9 to 5 anytime soon unless I'm doing what I truly love and that's my art. I'll be in touch. You are required to create an approved password but given no guidelines. Capital letter? Special character? Numbers? A certain number of characters? You never know what is required. You just fail over and over.
I had 1 W-2 and filed early. I'm single with no dependents or a house. I e-filed a few days before the IRS start accepting (January 21st) and set it for direct deposit. My taxes were accepted immediately but have been stuck in processing for weeks now. I received a letter stating I was flagged for potential identity theft and had to verify my identity. I did so online the day I received the letter in the mail. After completion I was informed it could now take an additional 9 weeks before I receive my tax return. In the meantime I've tried to contact the irs and speak to a live agent dozens of times only to be hung up on by a ridiculous automated robot. I just want clarity that my identity has been verified and when to expect my return.
