This is absolutely horrible. I am reasonably savvy when it comes to computers and online things in general. I work on one all day. This IDme is designed to drive people crazy. I have tried at least a dozen times on a pc and two phones. In each case, the website doesn't recognize something, times out repeatedly, does not work with my phone, doesn't detect a camera, you name it. I cannot get through to a living person to figure it out either. I think this is meant to keep people from getting the information in in the allotted time so they will not be eligible for the unemployment they paid for themselves from years of work. I suspect a nefarious agenda behind it! I am not kidding!

I tried for 2 days to get verified, each time it say I have to wait for someone to video chat, it says it could take 5 hours, I have done this 3 times, no one has contacted me.

Like most people's stories on the Better Business Bureau's website (where they have an F rating) I'm trying to "verify my identity". I was referred to id.me through the Arizona Dept of Economic Security (unemployment office) after being laid off due to COVID. If I wasn't referred by a State agency I would be convinced that this is a scam, but I'm trusting the state.
After submitting my driver's license and phone number I was told they could not verify me. There was no indication as to what to do next. There is no phone number. So I emailed them. They didn't respond. I emailed them again and I got a one-line response saying that someone will contact you soon. This repeated for five weeks (not exaggerating). When I finally heard back from someone I was told to upload that there's a video verification option if my phone number is not accepted. They ignored the part where I sent them a screenshot showing this not to be the case.

Eventually, I realized that if you try to submit your documents a second time and it doesn't work, THEN and only then does the video option appear. I've now been on hold for a "referee" for seven hours. I would never voluntarily do business with this company and can't believe that the state can't find another company to verify identities given how bad the reviews are. Still not sure if/when I'll ever get my unemployment benefits.

I have been trying to upload my documents for 4 days now all while waiting 5 hours at a time and finally when it gets down to 0 minutes it asks me to meet with someone and it starts back to 5 hours again! Aaaaahhhhh

UNACCEPTABLE!

Why can't this be streamlined. I am having to verify for EDD a second time. That doesn't make any sense. They need data companies to take this over or have a better system in place. These are peoples lives, survival at a very basic level. A system that requires you to wait over 16 hours is ARCHAIC! Have some respect for those of us that are absolutely helpless given the over a year long pandemic and its inhumane approach. We need better local leaders that are helping not making it harder to survive. IDme either needs to hire more staff or hand over to a company that can handle the volume on a LOCAL level. Looks like IDme - money is more important here and they are not expanding to meet the phenomenal need. Shame on those that put profit before people during a human crisis.

My question is not for me but for my son. I'm helping him with his idme. Why are there so many steps? He downloaded Id and ss card and birth certificate. Lived in NC all his life. Went to NC schools and doctors. Not to mention worked and filed taxes in NC as well. Now the trustee takes over 5 hours. All that info and they can't tell that the person is legit. U should'nt even need a referee
All that info; it should go through anyway. He was getting unemployment. I feel like this company is a scam. They know these people are legit. They just want to tie up the unemployment. These are real people with real bills trying to find real jobs. Hurting. It's sad that the company answers the reviews with some excuse. I am so humbly thankful that I kept my job through this pandemic.

$#*!ty scam company

They froze my unemployment account because apparently I need to verify my identity. I answered everything correctly but apparently they're telling me that my phone number is not correct which is b*******. I've had this phone number going on two years now the last number I had was from at least 4 to 5 years ago. So I don't know what the f*** their problem is, but there's been people are ready who account has been suspended due to this b******* company. They don't have a number to contact, and their representatives take hours to even respond. They don't help you with s***, all they do is send you bul$#*! links to their website. Useless company, and they're about to make a whole bunch of people either be homeless or struggling really bad because there's a lot of us depending on if it has a lot of us feeding our kids with this while we're trying to look for work. So next time you want to go around suspending people's unemployment you better make sure to stupid $#*! company works. Y'all are so full of s*** this company was started by a scammer and unfortunately got this far. This company is a scam I don't care what nobody says that's why they're trying to delete reviews. They're so f****** stupid they don't even know what the hell they're doing. They have nobody working there that's why the wait times are so damn long. They're just screwing with us typical b******* company

Have already done a verification. Now I'm being asked to upload pics of ID and do a face scan. The site itself gives contradictory instructions. First says to take a landscape picture of ID then portrait on next page. Had to take pics with a different phone and get them texted to me. Finally got to the face scan and it says to be in a well lit room. Then it tells me the ambient light is too bright or my screen is too dark. Closes curtains. Turns up brightness. Same answer. It finally scans and tells me it was successful. But now I have to do a video call? And upload MORE documents? Awesome so literally my ID and social? Really?

A Complete Scam.

EDD hired a company that cannot & will not "verify" you. They use fraud as an excuse to cut everyone off.
ID.me insists on a laundry list of items.
Back and front of your drivers license which should be plenty. But wait! They insist on you enabling your permissions to allow remote access to your camera so they can take selfie's of you.
You cannot expect everyone to have fancy ohones. Many do not. I do not. I have a flip phgone which does not work for this process.
Even IF you got through the selfie portion, you must then wait for a company "referee" to have a video conference with you.
No, no and more of no. If you look online and do your homework, you will see that people will fine a wait time of several hours just sitting there. When/if you have to refresh the page, you booted off and have to start all over again.
I will be suing the EDD and ID/me for granting benefits, then cutting them off do to this insane third party company that manages to verify the rare, occasional person.
I am not joining the CIA.
I am trying to get Covid benefits to pay my GD rent.

Its a Con

Their site makes it impossible to verify that you are you. The site will give you errors and kick you back and forth but wont resolve the problem. Its a 2 hr wait just to get human assistance while on the site. Contact by phone?

Doing a real good job of making sure millions of people do not get paid, while the government pays them to make sure that no one gets assistance from the government again.

My original request was submitted a month ago. I must have submitted 10 total. All I get is the same automated response over and over.

That is until I found the id.me support subreddit. Make a post on there and a day later a real person from support will email you. Avery on Reddit is the only person at that company that appears to be doing their job and also making the other 4 people do something too.

I think there should be a class action lawsuit against this company and the government for contracting them.

I am shocked they are in business and have clients. Their web technology isn't tested at all, redirect links don't work correctly. I tried different verification methods and nothing worked. The only option was to talk to the rep through video and show docs. Wait time for that was over 5 hours and never went down (you can't even ask them to just call you later when it's your turn). They don't give you any options to do anything else, you must wait for over 5 hours. They app main function of verification doesn't work. So thanks to their system I can't get my benefits. Sent an email-no response. Tried to get in contact and they don't even have a phone number. How do they get government business?

I'm a healthcare worker signed up, wanted SS#, provided all documents and even extra, they sent an email "we can't verify your information". Contacted them multiple times and every time they say "a ticket is opened for your complaint" nothing ever gets resolved. STAY AWAY WHAT A SCAM! I will be contacting the BBB and the Attorney Generals office!

Absolute Garbage

I am forced to use this third-rate piece of garbage software to verify my identity in order to claim unemployment from the State of California. So far, I have been prompted and repromoted to "verify" my damn identity via a trusted "referee". However, I am to upload multiple documents again and again. The site keeps stating they cannot verify my identity with these photos even though they are quite clear. I am not someone with shaky hands and my camera resolutions are quite nice. But this piece of hot garbage most definitely hired trash software engineers to write piss-poor code. Waste of time, waste of effort. This company should go bankrupt.

Existing UI websites provide enough identity safeguards that don't require the use of an inadequate POS like ID.ME. No staffing to fix their phuck ups and respond to legitimate claims. CLASS ACTION COMING!

This website sucks i did everything they told me and they still couldn't verify my identity and i reached out to their customer service and no one has reached back and you can't even speak to anyone i believe they just don't want to pay benefits to people's that has lost their jobs due to covid it's just sad guess I'll just be without money smh.
