I couldn't set up an account for SSA.gov. I tried for 3 days and kept getting locked out of my account. When I signed in with ID.me and completed the steps, I was connected to an agent by video chat. I had my number changed since my last sign into IRS.gov so I had to create a new ID.me. Which was a hassle at first getting the necessary documents, taking pics and then having to do a live video call to validate everything. BUT when you realize this is for your safety it's worth it and the live video call maybe lasted 5 minutes and the rep was professional, personable and friendly.
