When I first started Ibotta over 2 years ago it was GREAT! They gave you money back for produce, milk, every day items. Then they started removing every day items and just started giving money back on new items the manufacturers wants you to try, just like coupons. To me these things are a waste of money. I kept the app because they would still give you 25 cents back on any item. Today I noticed that they only give you 10 cents back on any item. Once I get up to $20 earned I'm cashing out and deleting the app. It's not worth the time and effort anymore.
They deactivated my account due to timeing glitches in their system, they ibotta workers seem and corrected my issues yet they deactivated my account because of the flags their glitches that were fixed caused. Terrible, no explanation at all. Other than we just decided to because we can. Lazy and terrible customer service. Don't blame users for the poor ability and lacking a of the app you created!
I have had Ibotta for 9 months now. I have earned about $145 over that time period, but most of it is from bonuses and online shopping (like Amazon).
At first it worked great for the grocery. Before you go shopping you select the offers you want. At my regular grocery store (Pick n Save), the store and Ibotta had some deal where the store sent Ibotta the receipts and they were automatically processed. Now my store got bought out (by Kroeger) and it's not automated anymore. When I come home from shopping I have to take a picture of my receipt and then scan the bar code of every item I want to redeem an offer on. Since most of the rebates are on processed food and I don't buy a ton of it, I generally only earn $1 or so for each shopping trip. It's just a lot of work for how much you get back. I'm spending 20 minutes every week reviewing and selecting offers and then scanning bar codes for like a $1. I don't really have anything better to do, but still!
Also, a bunch of these reviews are talking about not being able to get their money out. It worried me so I just cashed out my balance. It was a process because I had to connect to my paypal account and reset my Ibotta password for some reason, but it worked fine. I suspect a lot of these people are scamming.
I was referred two years ago and got $10 for starting up and things were pretty nice. After a few months I noticed that some offers weren't accepted, even though they were clearly on my receipt and also matched the item criteria. Once you submit an offer, and it's not accepted, the item will disappear and not show up again. So I've been cheated out of many "Any brand" rebates, as well as name brand items. When this happens you also lose out on bonus offers due to having less items in a challenge, etc. Almost every month I have to write them with screenshots of offer "errors." In my photo you can see offers matched when submitted, but after only some matched. Sometimes they credit the errors, except for bonus offers. A few of my emails have never received a response. After I get my last minimum of $20 I'm closing my account because it takes over a week to get help and it's too time consuming to just get 25 cents or a dollar. They aren't honest and play tricks with the app. No thanks!
Ibotta only allows you to earn money on their terms. They either deactivate your acct. Or an error pops up when you try to redeem the cash you worked so hard for. And customer service just sends out bogus responses. There is no reconciliation. When they decide your done... Your done
I don't have a huge problem or any scam stories about this but all I can say is I preferred it a few years ago. Before you use to have to scan your items so they check off the "list" and know what is left to get or whatever and now you just get them and go home and take a photo of the receipt. I don't like that at all. Also, I find it harder to navigate and slow to use now and it just upset me enough to stop using it all together.
I do have to say, though, that I made money from using this site and I did receive it. I made, I believe $60+ and then another time $30 something. I got paid both times.
I had about $20 in my account, and one day see a promo for inviting 2 friends and receiving $50 ($5+$5+$40 promotion). Anyways one day I ask my friends to go use it, they do. One account I got a $5 credit for, the other one never even showed up the rest of the night (promo ended that night). I wake to an email saying: Your account has been suspended permanently or temporarily (I hate how they say that, it's like, we should have a right to know whether or not we're permanently banned). Then I contact support (still no response, it's been around 20+ Days so far). Then I go to twitter, without even knowing much of my problem they blocked me, I made another twitter, they blocked me. They are a fraud company. Never take on promotions, you're almost guaranteed to get banned.
After blocking my account for referring 3 people, they locked me out because I made 20$. Made it impossible for me to get my money. Then they blocked me on social media because I filed a complaint. Finally they blocked me all together because I went to the BBB. So they got 3 people with my referral code for free and blocked me.
Ibotta is a SCAM. Tried to withdraw my funds using a gift card (didn't work), so then I tried using paypal, and again, it did not work. Tried to get help through customer service (you can only email them), and no one responded to me. Do NOT use this app.
I'am a heavy shopper as we are a family of 6, so i reached approx. $600 within months and now when i went to withdraw it, they say that the a/c has been debited and also locked! It was heart wrenching to say the least!
I tried reaching them via innumerable mails, but as others have said they don't revert back!
So IBOTTA why do you have a customer care?
Not an ethical company with a disgusting & pathetic behaviour! Will never trust this company anymore!
I have just returned from Market Basket, Waltham MA. I bought bacon, saltines, and three packages of WASA crackers which showed up BEFORE i LEFT HOME as going to get refunds. But they did not give me credit for any of those purchases or the. 25 for receipt!
This is not the first time it has happened... poor business practice!
It's been like a month since I still can't cash out. They keep your money by locking your account for no reason. I know I have t done anything wrong. They actually told me that I did nothing wrong and that they have unlocked my account and they still haven't unlocked it after they said they would. I wrote back and now it's been 2 weeks since. They haven't responded yet to my request but some bogus it's gonna be 7 days. Please shut this company down.
They lock your account for no reason and keep the money that is saved for a gift card. Try to use excuses for the reason it is deactivated. Pitiful Company!
I've been trying for weeks now to redeem my earnings. Never had problem before, but now I get an error message that phone verification failed!? Even writing customer service, reading the FAQ and follow the instructions I haven't been able to get my money. It's starting to feel like a big SCAM. So sad that you cannot find any honest, caring people anymore that take pride in their job and are willing to help you. :(
I bought Fage ( which must mean crap in another language) yogurt just to get the rebate and earn the bonus. Well they couldn't see the yogurt on my receipt. Bull crap! Yogurt was the very first item on my receipt.
The switched phillyswirl sorbet product to not give me credit! I submitted my receipt 3 times and they said it was unreadable and then when I tried to resubmit they switched the product on me. Sooo crooked!
I signed up with Ibotta and forgot the number I used because at the time I didn't have a working phone. I used WiFi and the app "textplus" for a phone #. I used every number I could think of and it still won't verify. I emailed support and they said they have to verify my old number to replace with a new number. I have $27.40 in my account and they refuse to let me verify my identity in any other way. I want my money.
Absolutely fantastic way to get money back for purchases on things I'm already going to buy! Very easy to use and reliable
I signed up for Ibotta at the end of May, and was and actually am enjoying using it and seeing what deals and bonuses I can accomplish. I have had two weird issues in the last week. One, my husband signed up on HIS device under me, which was my 3rd referral. The very next morning his account was deactivated. He did nothing wrong, validated a valid offer, and I never got my bonus for refering. Sent emails out a few days account and still nothing back. So whatever, I move on and have had several friends sign up. By several I mean like 4 total. My fourth (but third according to Ibotta) friend signed up and used her Ibotta. I live in South Carolina, her in Michigan. I got a 25 dollar bonus, plus had a little money in my account. I had a total of 41.75 in there and went to cash out. I had gotten locked out due to, to many password attemps, and after doing internet search I found maybe that is why I could not transfer my money. I re set my password, and can get in my account, however it will not let me cash out and to contact support. Which I have through email and facebook. I would like to see the infraction I made or if they will correct it, that would be awesome. I am not aware of ANY rules broken, all my referrals and receipts have been legit. I am hoping for a response to be able to try and continue the use of this, I have told so many people how awesome this was, now I feel like I lied and need to go back and tell them not to do it. Hoping this was an honest mistake on their part (or even mine if I did something I was unaware of) but I went a READ all the terms and can't find anything. If I did, I feel they should show me the infraction.
I happen to love I botta. Easy to use and always usually pays out. I've only have a few instances where something went wrong but they made sure to credit my account
Answer: Absolutely so true! I earned up just over $100 and when I went to cash out they said I was fraudulent YET I HAVE EVERY RECEIPT and all submissions were valid. It took me months to get to this amount. Hmmmmm Class action anyone?
Answer: Because they deny certain purchases due to cost! It's become a scam!
Answer: I tried to withdraw money for the first time and it said my account was locked because of multiple attempts which was not true.! I sent 5 requests for help in a week and they finally responded by deactivating my account and keeping the 360.00 that took me months to accumulate. They claim I tampered with a date on a receipt and I just crossed off the account number. So they can keep my money that is mine. How can I get my money back?
Answer: Sorry Jenna bit it seems like you're kinda late for that rebate a few years actually. I'm pretty sure that ibotta have 100% absolutely forgot about you and by not I'm sure you forgot about too. :)
Answer: Go to your $amount and cash out and it will say bank or gift card.
Answer: Why don't any product receipts add extra bonus for us?
Answer: You have to email the morons that run their customer support at least 3 times before you'll get the proper amount credited to your account.
