Hotels.com Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to its customer service and booking policies. While some long-term users appreciated the initial value and rewards system, recent changes have led to frustration, particularly regarding the loss of rewards and the ineffectiveness of customer support. Common complaints include poor communication, unresponsive service, and issues with misrepresented hotel listings. Customers frequently reported feeling unsupported during disputes with hotels, leading to a growing sentiment that the company prioritizes profits over customer care, prompting many to seek alternatives for their travel needs.

I never have dealt with a business as inflexible as HOTELS.COM. Trying to change a reservation with them was impossible.

They are impossible to contact. Only computers. We so regret using them and now I see that a lot of the establishments booked could have been gotten at better rates on other sites. So many bad experiences with them during a 35 day road trip os South Africa.

I booked a room on hotels.com for Daytona Beach, Florida. My request was a King size on the water room where I can see the water, when I got there they gave me the lowest floor available room with 2 beds looking over the roof of the enterance facing nothing,
So bad that I couldn't even spend a min in it, plus it was a Handicapped room which i have no issue with that, when I complained to to the Front desk, their response was that 's what I paid for... Is that a Joke? It was the Hilton Hotel in Daytona Beach and no thats not what I asked for.
I spent one night there and learned not to use Hotels. Com its a shame to experience such an experience.

Confirmation # ************** from hotels.com. The hotel said that they would not honor hotels.com confirmed reservation, they were going to rent the rooms directly and the hotel was projected to be full. When I called hotels.com we received no assistance. I was put on hold for over an hour and when I called back they claimed they left me a voice message. That was not the truth. I will NEVER again use this web site.

Fraud
February 12, 2017

I booked 3 nights at a hotel cost 1006. 00 for Christimas, minutes after I received a call from my Physician with results from a test. A terminal diagnosis right after I called to cancel my hotel reservations, and was told if the hotel had not charged then I would be refunded. I called the hotel and they showed it was canceled and said they did not charge me, I should have a refund in a few days. Hotels.com never refunded me my 1006. 00 I spent 3 hours on the phone trying to get it back as hotel.com kept telling me the hotel had my money and the hotel told me they took a penny, I cant get a refund, They are nothing but scammers.

SCAM and Fraud
February 12, 2017

A few weeks ago I booked a hotel in Oakland, CA through Hotel.com. It was represented as a "stunning 1 bedroom flat". Since I needed a place for 6 nights I booked this "non refundable"room. I was on a business trip in Oakland yesterday and went by to check it out. Turns out the place is a dump in neighborhood I would not feel safe walking to the train station. When I called Hotel.com they were completely unhelpful. They told me I would be charged the full amount. That the property owners were unwilling to change their policy and there was nothing Hotel.com could do. When I looked at me credit card statement, I appears that they shared my credit card info with this property without my permission.
I was charged by "Luxury Living Suites"at *******125.
This is outright fraud!
Hotel.com is responsible for the truth of the properties they put on their website and also the protection of their customers private information.

I lost all my identification and couldn't find a hotel to accept my credit card without a picture ID. I called hotels.com and was connected to Eliza Romero. Within 10 minutes she found me a great hotel. Ms. Romero spoke directly with the hotel and explained my situation. She went above and beyond to help me! Thank you Elizabeth, you're the best!

Scammed by Hotels.com
February 11, 2017

I booked a room through Hotels.com and was overcharged. They added a $300 cleaning fee and this fee was not listed during the booking process. Hotels.com sent my credit card and personal information to the hotel without my knowledge so the hotel charged it directly. That's two issues for me... the overcharge and sharing my personal information.

I booked through Hotels.com, so I gave them a call to fix this. The advertised price was lower because their web site wasn't listing the cleaning fee. I asked the customer service agent to look at the web site and verify that the price was not what I was charged. He would not and said it didn't matter. It was between me and the hotel at that point.

The room was non-refundable so customer service said I would have to depend on the good graces of the hotel to get my money back. I did not do that. I called my credit card and did receive the money back.

I have been using Hotels.com for over ten years and have booked over 120 rooms. I have had some problems but never anything major. If they would have made it right, I would have kept using them. They just said it was out of their hands. I'll never be using them again.

Sure, find the deals through their site but book direct. They are worthless. Lots of rules and impossible to change anything. I was a VIP, Gold, Silver, every level and on every level they are worthless. We can all do better. They are an obvious ripoff, capt'n.

Three days after I booked with Hotels.com, I received an advertisement email from them. The same hotel, identical room, identical dates, $29.90 less on total price. No problem, I thought. Just a phone call and they will make a price adjustment. Wrong! I was told they could send me a $40 coupon for a future booking. Even speaking to a manager ( Miguel) they would not change their position, even though they advertise, "price match guarantee." I will not book with Hotels.com again.

Beware of Fraud
February 7, 2017

I tried to book a room and received an error that stated "unable to process request, please call or try again later." If you get this, stop! Perform a screen capture, you were likely charged.

When I called to get the problem straightened out, the representative was very rude, was very hard to understand (strong accent) and hung up on me when I asked to speak with someone else because I was having trouble understanding him.

Never had any issues
February 7, 2017

Not sure why the ratings are so bad. What seems to be the problem? My experience was always great. Been using Hotels.com for years and booked up to ten hotels during that time period. Like I said: Never had any problems.

Don't use Hotels.com
February 4, 2017

I booked a room last July for Feb 2017. With the understanding if a better price comes up through their secret price you are able to change to the better price. In January a better price came available. I cancelled the original booking, and made another reservation. I received notice the first res. Was cancelled. Then just recently I get notice I have no reservation at all. I called the Hotel direct and they confirmed I had no reservation. I had to book through the hotel direct at an additional cost of around $200. I was fortunate they still had a room available. I have sent e-mails to Hotels.com and have received no response at all. I will never use them again.

I made 2 bookings, was charged for 2 bookings, received confirmation #s for 2 bookings. Now only 1 booking exists. I spent over an hour on hold with customer service, spoke to 4 people, trying to get either the booking I paid for or a refund. No one was able to help and I was told no one who could be reached by phone is able to access payment info. I was told I need to submit proof of purchase in order for them to investigate (which I did).
Also, now when I try to cancel the existing booking (which is supposed to be a free option based on the purchase method I chose), I receive error messages and cannot cancel.
Stay away, they are crooks! I wish I had known before I dealt with them that they are owned by expedia--it's no wonder!

We have to understsnd it is jist not hotels.com simce i was in hotel managment business for 6 years and most of the time it is hotels them self does things which hotels.com and customer get sqeezed in cause after all hotels.com try to do things in better way but these hotels individual owners and careless frontdesk clearks and mAnagements make decesion without the clint site who is been there to give them business. As far as my experiance with hotels.com is been great then the other travel clint websites like charging all kimd a fees or not cancling the room under24hrs etc god i have stories. Ebates nullified
January 28, 2017

I booked a trip on Hotels.com to New York also using Ebates for the cash back. Today I was informed by Hotels.com customer service that since I decided to pay at the hotel it nullified the Ebates cash back. I have a free room at Hotels.com and once used, I will never use them again.

Always a catch!
January 25, 2017

Prior to Christmas, I booked a room on hotels.com for a hotel stay on 12/29 in which I was going to pay for when I checked in. As a Christmas gift from a relative, (who knew I booked a room through hotels.com) I received an e-gift card from hotels.com for which I was to use toward my 12/29 reservation. When I called hotels.com to apply the payment, they said it could not be done (eventhough I havent even stayed there yet)! They offered to cancel the reservation and rebook but the hotel didnt have anymore openings. In addition, if I canceled my reservation, to rebook the same room, it was not guaranteed that I would get it. Now I was stuck having to pay out of pocket AND had a hotels.com that I couldnt even use! What a joke. Stay away from this and use other reputable sites for hotel shopping.

Horrible
January 4, 2017

They sold us a room to a Hotel that was already sold out. Then we called them to ask about it and transfer us to another hotel next door but they just put us on hold for 45 min. We called from another phone line and they picked up the phone right away. Once we said we want to cancel our room since it's sold out and move to another Hotel. They put me on hold again for 50 min before I hung up. 3rd time calling them, I told them same thing and they said that room will cost me 430 before taxes. On their website and hotels website it is posted for 369. I explained it to them over and over... but no point. In the end I just got fed up with them and told them to refund me the money and ended up just buying the room on site. Worst experience ever. Telling everyone to avoid them.
