Everything was fine until the end of 2023 when the site was changed or updated somehow and I was unable to login from my computer. I e-mailed support and never heard anything. Had to get someone else to login from their phone to renew my domain.

For someone who is trying to manage multiple logons/domains, the billing is terrible. Emailed receipts offer no information as to what it's for, and the 'renewal center' doesn't tell you much. It takes so much of my day trying to decipher these things. I can't imagine this is accidental because it's so bad it has to be intentional to create confusion.
High rating - I would have preferred Yahoo small business web hosting because it was extremely user friendly and many templates made it easy for inexperienced people to create a website in no time. I feel like I'm wasting so much time trying to figure out to create a simple website here and I still haven't figured it out. I may have to hire someone to do it for me.
My sites were suspended for a few days because of delayed payment. Now my sites won't load (or take forever to load) and all of my WordPress sites were wiped out (due to a faulty plugin?). Your offered WordPress recovery tools are useless. My WP sites were killed for "electioon year" security reasons? Prove otherwise... We read the news concerning censorship and it is very disturbing to know that...
I've asked several times what i have been charged for and nobody responds. I had an autopay charge of $250. I believe i'm paying for a service that you no longer provide me. I just want to clear it up and cancel this autopay so it doesn't happen again, but nobody responds to my question.

When I switched over to HostGator they did not convert my existing website to HostGator. After several attempts and 2 addtional months of paying the other service just to allow HostGator more time to complete the move, it still never got done. All that information was lost.

The are too many things to pay apart, and even though I had already paid to renew the security of my website, it is again saying that it is not a secure site. Why? I don't know. Also, the platform is not easy to understand.
My website had been running fine for months. Today I go to it and find that it is unreachable. I tried to get chat support and they were no help at all. All they said is that the site is in propagation. Why would it be doing that? I haven't changed anything about the site in weeks.
I am coding my site. The login to the file manager is a pain where it is located, the editing feature is easy to use.
Customer service is the best, no angry agents just people on the other end, no judgements. Some sites the people are very snarky.
I have credit card charges that don't have invoices. I've contacted support three times already and can't get this sorted out. Also, I have invoices with wrong details on them. I've asked for this to be fixed but have been told that invoices that have already ben generated cannot be changed. This is total nonsense.
Received 2 emails from billing with different amounts, confusing. Started using HostGator yesterday using YouTube videos I found. Installed WordPress per video, then plugin Elementor per video. We made account changes which froze our Domain for 60 days. Our 60 days is past by about a week but we have been told it IS unlocked and a code for transfer will be sent. It still has not been sent And our portal on Hostgator still shows locked.
For all the many reviews I read before choosing HostGator about having very good customer support, my experience has been otherwise. In fact, I now do everything I can to avoid having to TRY and contact them. But, so far I am relatively satisfied.

We've had some of the worst technical support experiences ever, the Host Gator people do not have direct access to the tools they have on site, the web site builder does not work with e-commerce, horrible experience costing us money for customers unable to buy from the site and being charged for the e-commerce package even though it does not work, do not recommend this to any small business owners

Your new portal is less customer friendly; it is too much pushing to sell something new and it is not smooth, means it looks like not finished constructions... Some messages do not disappear, even when I click X, and disturbing the whole work..
The new site design is terrible. Before, I used to find things really easy. But now it's gotten complicated for no reason. It might be simple and easy for the one who designed the site, but not for the user, I'm afraid.
I chose HostGator a long time ago. I've had issues every time HostGator changes to a new setup. My baby plan is now showing as expired because it's showing up under the wrong domain name, an expired domain name. Other domains aren't renewing. The bank card has expired, so I have to reset every domain. After doing so for a few, I'll then get an error message and have to come back at a later time and set it for another few. Ugh. There should be a way to change the billing information for all domains at once.
You say one thing and do something else. You do not follow through with your promises. I used to love you guys. Now I am getting really tired of your false promises and you going into my account without authorization.

Answer: If you go straight to smartchat, it is very easy - you only need to find the smartchat button. I have worked with the Internet since web browsers were invented, so I know most of the answers already. That means that when I have a problem that I can't solve, it is going to be a real stinker for HostGator support to solve - I only bring them the difficult ones. Recently, I had an ISP who gave me terrible service, and the internet kept dropping out every few minutes. The Hostgator smartchat expert kept contact with me on and of for about an hour and three quarters until he had worked out the answer for me. That is what I call RELIABLE service.
