I don't feel I got the service equal to the value I paid. My websites and hosting are insecure. Even they have been hacked and some installed they domain on my package. Never got comfortable with the way Hostgator displays the billing or help to keep them safe and organized renewal. Never happy!

They are low cost. But they have screwed up my WordPress and email for the last month. 10 hours on the phone and they still don't have it configured correctly, but after 2 weeks with the site down, it is working at least
Good. I am pleased with the service. BUT the 5 minute rule in the chat room is terrible. Please do something about it, make som buzzer or light to alert you it is going to close, it is very hard if you are doing something on the computer to stay in one window all the time.

This company used to be the gold standard. It has fallen so far I have taken 3 of my VPS clients to GoDaddy Managed Wordpress or Enhanced - and about to take 2 more - that's 5 clients plus the additional services. That's how much you suck
Great to have a chat support big help for not proficient english clients. Please take a look on your platform to the Live Chat I think that was broken I been connecting multiple times to seek some help but the chat were not updating sometimes until client us to disconnect the chat and start another one. Please get that fix for your valuable clients

I chose hostgator because of excellent review on other sites. However, since I have tried to operate within the system I has been unable to import my blog (which was only 7 posts long). In addition attempting to upload images results in a failure to upload every time. If this is how you treat new customers I can't imagine how you treat long time customers that have been locked in for years.

I hear people complaining that their website is having problems, that they can't get help from their provider. Somewhere in there, they ask who I use. I always recommend Hostgator because I don't have any of those troubles.

The $3+ / month price, plus the option to ditch WordPress and host my files via old-school FTP meant that I could keep my hand-coded site that I've been hosting since 1996. Affordable, simple, and super-customizable. The tech help staff are great, too!
I'm trying to get to my account billing, and I get a full screen offer for a product I don't want. The continue button is actually a purchase button, and the option to continue without purchasing is in small print underneath. A client portal needs to provide the client with quick access to the information they need, not trick them into buying your products.
I dislike the new interface. There should be a direct link (one click) to cPanel like there was before. Now I have to click NO to an add, wait for a page to load, click Hosting, wait for a page to load, scroll all the way to the bottom, and then click the link. This seems like a common request. I imagine lots of users feel the same way that I do. Very frustrating. Also while I'm ranting, the phone verification feels ancient. Why can't I choose SMS? Text is how everyone else does this.
Hostgator used to be perfect. 3 things have changed my mind, and why I will not be recommending HostGator to anyone. 1) I paid my $8.99 monthly fee for a long time, then all of a sudden, with no warning, my plan went to $21.99. I contact customer service...and they act nonchalant about it, like it was a natural occurrence. 2) My files are deleted. I did not delete them myself, I went to check my portfolio one day, and it's gone. I log in, and I have no files at all. I contact customer service, and I get no explanation, but an e-mail a couple of days later saying I'll have to pay $50 to get it all back. What?! 3) This one is more nitpicky, but still...It's a burden on a customer. I hate MFA...and the pin that I need to chat about my account isn't easy to remember. I try to make it easy, but there's too many rules for the pin. What's wrong with *******? Nothing! I had to make it to something I'd never think of. Then spend extra time in chat figuring it out.
We were dissatisfied with our previous hosting service, but feared that some other service could be worse. We finally geared up to make the change and your team brought over the entire site completely intact. Now that we're with you our site is faster and we have a sense that our needs will be met quickly and professionally.

Easy to set up my custom site. Email works flawlessly. CPanel works with everything I tried. Keeping domain name with another registrar, yet there were no problems using the HostGator nameservers to direct traffic to the site's new home.

Because it used to be the best hosting provider for the money, but recently it keeps breaking my websites for no reson. This is the third time in a short period I have to contact support. They fix it but then in the next day is offline again without us making any changes. Sad to say.
When you purchase software, you are buying it with the hope that it fits your needs. There is always concern in the back of your mind that it might not work. What makes this concern mitigable is if there is someone who can walk you through any challenges or concerns you may have. That was the case with my purchase. If it was not for the splendid, awesome, great, amazing, great (didn't I say that already!) customer service, I would be writing a different review. The individual who assisted me embodied patience, empathy, and virtually held my hand as we made adjustments to my website. My site is activated and running well with no problems. I would recommend HostGator! In fact, I am using it for another website project I am involved in!

I was in the market for a new host because my old host had become unreliable and problematic for emails. HostGator was comparable in price and features and was represented by good reports of reliability. Other than a few bits of confusion during my transition to HostGator, things have been good. Email reliability has been great.

Answer: If you go straight to smartchat, it is very easy - you only need to find the smartchat button. I have worked with the Internet since web browsers were invented, so I know most of the answers already. That means that when I have a problem that I can't solve, it is going to be a real stinker for HostGator support to solve - I only bring them the difficult ones. Recently, I had an ISP who gave me terrible service, and the internet kept dropping out every few minutes. The Hostgator smartchat expert kept contact with me on and of for about an hour and three quarters until he had worked out the answer for me. That is what I call RELIABLE service.
