I chose you because you were cheaper and offered similar services to my old provider. However, after doing a direct transfer of my old website to you, everything is just a lot slower and slightly more complicated. The 2 stars is accurate. I'm afraid I'm not impressed.
Bait and switch. Dishonest and will trick you into a plan and then start hitting you up for charges. Even provided them with screen shots of their website showing what services were in my plan at the time of purchase and they still demanded addl fees for everything.
I don't understand it, Bluehost and Hostgator are owned by the same company, but one has been top notch, honest and helpful. And the other dishonest, misleading, and unhelpful.
HostGator hosting packages are very cheap and their support is very efficient and they offer me one of the best ever customer service. My queries/concerns are solved in less 5 minutes most of the time.

You sent me an email saying my domain"MJStumpf.com" expires 4/24 and that the credit card had expired, which it had. But when I logged on to my account the web page said the domain registration expires in 2025. Which one was correct? (I don't know myself, but I should be able to rely on your systems to agree with each other... 2024 vs 2025.) And $22 to renew for a year... crush the little guy!
Also I got a notice from my credit card that my "Baby" hosting had renewed at $203. Ouch! It's gone up that much... and no explanation. After 10 plus years with you, I'm not happy. *******@optonline.net
The customer service is excellent. Whenever I have an issue or question about my website, I call the customer service. They are very knowledgeable and patient to let me understand how to solve the problem.
I can't remember at this point. Areadispatch.com going down has been the second website to go down without any interaction from me. That means someone else did it. Freedomperception.com had its database corrupted without me doing anything. I am optimistic with this latest incident and recoverability of the site from what's going on with it now, but freedomperception.com has not been recoverable. If you know of a way that I could do it with the backups, I would definitely appreciate you helping to recover the product of my hard work. I'd also like to get Area dispatch.com back online. Thanks.
I was told the problem was due to unanticipated maintenance on one of your mail servers. I would have expected that to have been communicated to your front-line support staff who could have told me immediately it was not a problem I could solve. However I still had to go through too many questions about my problem and set up before the agent eventually told me the likely cause. I was also told the expected wait time was 1-2 hours before service would be resumed. It was much longer than that. I gave up checking if the problem was fixed until the following day.

CS does not understand the problems at hand, you get to explain yourself 5 times and even that might not be enough, one person says the other thing and other person says something different, and both of them are wrong and not knowing what the other one has said... You should really read your FB wall and take from that..
The billing thing really hurts my head and i have a lot of anxiety because im poor and irresponsibly stretch my dollars and there's all these dropdown boxes and i really wish it was more streamlined because im having to click down all these accounts to figure out which one will pay the name that's due and if i am missing something i apologize but i am struggling. I chose HostGator following positive recomendations from youtube advertising. However, after having a very affordable 1 year introductory offer, the price suddenly increased from roughly 40$ to 240$. I tried complaining via live chat and my conversations were ended with no follow up whatsoever to my complaints. No reward or incentive for loyal customers wanting to renew, this company thrives off of new customers not aware that their price increases very steep after the offer is over. I tried asking for another introductory offer and I was told no, tried escalating my complaint and never heard anything back. Poor staff and poor experience. I'm just glad I cancelled my auto renewal before I was charged a rediculous price, it's a shame because I would have renewed again had I been offered the same price for another year.
Hostgator has my back. Significant improvement in customer service, Q&A chat wizard and obviously extensive training has been incorporated internally. I get offers to switch to other hosting providers but over the past 2-3 years Hostgator has never failed me. Larence DeBose
Since the migration or changes to interface, I m facing lots of issues. First it stuffed up all my MySQL databases Technical service advise to create new admin username and password. Since then here and there I m having issues with so many server errors 500
I am going on the 5th call to get my emails. Administrative issues at Hostgator are seriously impacting my livelyhood. Would not recommend at this point. I have been a customer since 2008, but apparently not good enough to get some critical support.

I've been stuck in a loop attempting to get credit for HostGator locking me out of my account for months and losing revenue. I've been a customer, with 2 business accounts, for many years, yet I've gotten NO help to resolve issues that still exists as of today.

Answer: If you go straight to smartchat, it is very easy - you only need to find the smartchat button. I have worked with the Internet since web browsers were invented, so I know most of the answers already. That means that when I have a problem that I can't solve, it is going to be a real stinker for HostGator support to solve - I only bring them the difficult ones. Recently, I had an ISP who gave me terrible service, and the internet kept dropping out every few minutes. The Hostgator smartchat expert kept contact with me on and of for about an hour and three quarters until he had worked out the answer for me. That is what I call RELIABLE service.
