Customer service has been very helpful. I am not well-versed in web design or the running of a website. Customer service reps have helped my learning curve and got my site up and running with little issue.
The process of getting to the page of tools I need has become more complicated and convoluted. It takes more, excessive steps to reach the content I need, slogging through a bunch of unnecessary screens. Plus, the Chat icon constantly tries to get my attention, even though I do not need it at the moment, but cannot make it go away.
I chose HostGator following positive recomendations from youtube advertising. However, after having a very affordable 1 year introductory offer, the price suddenly increased from roughly 40$ to 240$. I tried complaining via live chat and my conversations were ended with no follow up whatsoever to my complaints. No reward or incentive for loyal customers wanting to renew, this company thrives off of new customers not aware that their price increases very steep after the offer is over. I tried asking for another introductory offer and I was told no, tried escalating my complaint and never heard anything back. Poor staff and poor experience. I'm just glad I cancelled my auto renewal before I was charged a rediculous price, it's a shame because I would have renewed again had I been offered the same price for another year.
I have been trying to get my website SSL fixed that was issued through HostGator and every time I've called I've either been disconnected or placed on eternal holds just to be told that they will need to have a manager look at the problem because it is beyond the rep. On the phone, ability to handle the issue. So then they never got back to me until my 5th successful not disconnected call I finally got a manager to reply via email and his email contained instructions on how to fix the issue! Lol are you kidding me why just fix it and write me what you did to fix it instead of how i can DIY the issue. Its just sad i regret ever switching to HostGator I have lost tons of business and am very displeased that they careless about their customers ability to use their product which is paid for in advanced for the year and a top tier plan at that.

My website had been running fine for months. Today I go to it and find that it is unreachable. I tried to get chat support and they were no help at all. All they said is that the site is in propagation. Why would it be doing that? I haven't changed anything about the site in weeks.
1. I recently discovered that the hosting service no longer offers unlimited hosting at an affordable rate. Unfortunately, the hosting changes now restrict me to only three websites on the Business plan that I have been using for years. It took me three years to establish californiahomerealty.com, and now I am unable to create additional websites. As a result, the new WordPress website I started building is currently displaying a blank page.
I have been a long-time customer of yours. To say that I'm disappointed in your price increase would be an understatement. Since I've noticed that you have been charging me way more than what was your price for the previous (many) years, I have been trying to move away from you HostGator (as many thousands of other customers are).
Hopefully I'll manage to move away from you, as soon as possible.
He was polite, went out of the way to let me know to leave the browser open and how to prevent losing the chat due to inactivity, took my security as an importance by getting me to respond to verification email when I forgot my pin, and helped to resolve my issue all within five minutes. He was polite and nice while doing all these quickly with expertise

My weebly website I built on host gator just disappeared. I spent a week talking to customer service and there is nothing they could do except tell me to build a wordpress website. I would give this company negative stars if I could
Had a real hard time and wasted a lot of time.doing things I assumed the migration I paid for would do.
Even though it is up and running there is things I just don't feel and working the way it used to.
Our websites and DNS records vanished. It created significant interruptions for our business and clients. I am waiting for Hostgator to explain how the files were deleted. Thankfully the team did get the assets back but the time from the initial call and misdiagnosis from Hostgator to the files being completely restored spanned two full business days.
Your servers go down every month. I've had to call and deal with your terrible customer service every 4-5 weeks. I was even on the phone on Christmas Eve, trying to get you to fix the server errors and get my business back online. You are one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with.
I wanted to create a blog where I could share my expertise and help create solutions to problems that people are experiencing or may experience in the future. Also, I was referred to HostGator by a friend who swears by their services, stating that it was the best hosting service for blogging.

I can state this without any hesitation - HG has performed well above my expectations. Possibly the only other company who has come close to their excellent service is InMotionHosting - but you will pay through the nose to use their service. I have a cloud based service and paid $400 for 3 years. The amount of amenities, service, reliability HG provides is remarkable - impressive.

Keep changing and unnecessarily adding infos, making it difficult for longtime users! I have lost data over and over,,, and the customer service not helpful! I understand one have to sale and make money, but do consider the importance of customers files as well. Not everyone is a computer ingeneer.
I am on HostGator since many years' am very happy with the support and services, but please since tow days all my Emails are not connected to the servers can't send attachement or open my mails.

The first screen that I have been getting recently after I login to the billing system is a page trying to sell me a product which I have to opt out of to continue. I could do without that. I don't like having sales pushed on me like that.
I have not worked on my site for many years and recently received an error message that I spent hours trying to resolve. When I decided to contact HostGator customer support I received wonderful assistance. Akshay immediately was positive in his response, said he could help me and did. After asking a few questions he went to work and now everything is working wonderfully. Thank you Akshay and thank you HostGator.

Answer: If you go straight to smartchat, it is very easy - you only need to find the smartchat button. I have worked with the Internet since web browsers were invented, so I know most of the answers already. That means that when I have a problem that I can't solve, it is going to be a real stinker for HostGator support to solve - I only bring them the difficult ones. Recently, I had an ISP who gave me terrible service, and the internet kept dropping out every few minutes. The Hostgator smartchat expert kept contact with me on and of for about an hour and three quarters until he had worked out the answer for me. That is what I call RELIABLE service.
