I made a request to change the billing term for my Weebly add-on from monthly to the more cost-effective annual term. Hostgator was unable to complete this simple request without cancelling my current add-on and losing my website data, thereby completely disrupting the functioning of my websites. In order for them to proceed, they told me that they'd have to cancel my current add-on and re-add the new add-on with annual term.
When I asked if I could simply switch to annual upon the completion of my monthly term, I was told that Hostgator does not have an option to only change the term from monthly to annually. Yet on its website, Weebly states explicitly that it allows customers to make precisely these sorts of changes to their accounts with no hassle.
I have not had a single problem with Hostgator so far, which is a big compliment considering that I always had problems with other companies before moving to Hostgator. One thing I can complain about is the bandwidth, I get limited bandwidth from Hostgator whereas prior to moving to Hostgator; my hosting company gave me unlimited bandwidth.

The price to start is reasonable, my site loads quickly and has been up basically always, and most of the processes are seamless. I'm not looking forward to a price hike at renewal, however (we'll see), and the portal could be better organized/more user-friendly.

I was told the problem was due to unanticipated maintenance on one of your mail servers. I would have expected that to have been communicated to your front-line support staff who could have told me immediately it was not a problem I could solve. However I still had to go through too many questions about my problem and set up before the agent eventually told me the likely cause. I was also told the expected wait time was 1-2 hours before service would be resumed. It was much longer than that. I gave up checking if the problem was fixed until the following day.

Even utilizing YouTube tutorials building a site isn't very user friendly. Primary reason I used HostGator is to build my own site and not have to pay others. Email isn't very reliable. I'm always having to re-login to send or read emails due to error codes. I've also lost content that was published. Example, where I went back months later and a page was missing. Yes the price was reasonable, but outside of saying I have a website. There's been no benefit of the website outside of personal email as a resource.
