The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

I tried using Homeadvisor for my company but I received the worst customer service that I have had in a very long time. I will never recommend this website to anyone for as long as I live.
The final straw with this company was they took out my annual renewal fee weeks after I had canceled my membership with the company. I told the girl that I was extremely disappointed with how they charged for leads when I didn't even have my site up and I stopped my leads from coming. Two days after I canceled my membership I get some guy calling me as trying to get me to sign up again. I told him repeatedly that I was not interested in continuing a relationship with the company and I had to hang up on him and he $#*!ing called me back "what part of no do you not understand". I hung up again. He called me back and left a message three days later.
I found out that they took my annual fee out of my acct on 9-7-19 and I called to complain and never got a return call saying that they would return my fee.
I finally got my money back on 11-16-19, but only after many phone calls and emails. Hardly seemed like it was worth the money based on the amount of time I wasted getting nowhere with the moron's that work there.
I just hope more people close their accts with this company and they end up closing. I feel sorry for the people that will lose their jobs, but damn it just is not the way to do business, ripping people off.

This service is a scam... they lied during signup and I got charged over $500 in leads that I didn't want. And they do not offer ANY refunds... only internal credits for future jobs.
Just cancelled my service after only 28 days... and it took over 45 minutes to cancel through 3 people trying to keep me there. I even need to change my credit card in order to stop the charges from recurring.
SCAM SCAM SCAM
I was a member of home advisor as a service provider. They send you leads and charge you for those leads without to personally picking through them. Had I known that I would've never agreed to their service to begin with. I pause my lead flow so I didn't get charged anything for 30 days. They turned it back on, stole $267.50 out of my bank account, and refused to refund. I deleted my account telling them that I did not want my companies good name associated with their scam artist business model. Contractor stay away, unless of course you want no control over your own money.
As you can tell by reviews don't do business here they scam you misinform you to set you up to where you get double charged and half the customers never respond! In 2 weeks I was charged $900! They won't help they won't budge they just keep saying oh policy oh we can't do that blah blah not friendly customer service stay clear! I'm a new business and they straight bent me over and raped me with a smile. Not sure how this place is in business deal with yelp or thumbtack but to be honest all lead sites are bogus. Be honest be kind care about your customers and get business from word of mouth!
I scheduled lawn service for todayleaf blowing. They never showed up. When I called Home Advisor to ask where they were, I was told by someone in perhaps Pakistan that "the professionals cancelled and your card was refunded."! No one ever contacted me to tell me, they didn't get different workers, they didn't advise me they had already charged my card.
I used fix price service for my sprinkler weatherization. I had to book two weeks in advance, and it cost $279. Near the time of the appointment, I was given the name of the technician, but not the company or a phone number. The work was scheduled for a Monday. Monday came but the "pro" was a no show. I called HomeAdvisor, and got an off-shore call center, and they knew the pro didn't show, but they didn't bother to call and tell me. They rescheduled for Wednesday, even claiming that they were offering a bonus to the pro to show up. Wednesday came and I get a text that the pro called off and the work has been rescheduled for Thursday. Thursday came and I get a text that the pro called off and now it's rescheduled for Monday. I called HomeAdvisor and they could not guarantee me that the pro would show up on Monday, so I got a refund, went to Angie's List, connected with a real pro who showed up on Sunday and did the work for $100, and I didn't have to pay him until the work was done satisfactorily!
I agreed on November 13th to a fixed price of $256.00 to have four ceiling fans and 2 Nest cameras installed. My appointment was confirmed for 1 pm November 15 at 8:43 am this morning and was reconfirmed again at 11 am. At ~11:53, I received a text indicated that my appointment was canceled and moved to November 18th at 1 pm. I called to inquire why the appointment was canceled so abruptly was told that on contractor has picked up my job. The customer service rep was very evasive and unwilling to share reasons. I asked if anyone had picked up my job for Monday the 18th at 1 pm and she was reluctant to confirm. She became irritated at my insistent that I have some assurances that I would receive the services on November 18 and not be left hanging minutes before the scheduled appointment. I eventually asked her to let me know if someone has confirmed they would be at my location on November 18, tell me they wouldn't or give me my money back. She jumped at the chance to give me my money back. This was my first experience with this service and will never use it again. I was told that they use a service called Handi Technology for soliciting pro-jobs. The Home Advisor reps said that this service is similar to Uber. Pro decide what jobs they want based on area, price, and the work. The communication skills of the reps will make me never consider this service again.
Iv been charged multiple fees for leads that I talked to for 30 seconds resulting in no business as they say the price is to much switch is cool, but there needs to be a party from homeadvisor that talks to these people and find out what they need and price they are willing to pay before making the contractor pay for the leads. I have paused my account with homeadvisor for the fact it seems they will send you any lead just to be getting money from you without even talking to lead. Again I am highly disappointed and would recommend anyone looking for more business to create you a website on your own and pay for a little radio time and small promotions in restaurants and other local hardware stores. Homeadvisor you suck that's all.
Home Advisor doesn't work with clients without forcing to give them authorization to contact us at any time including sales, marketing, 3rd vendor calls... This is not fair request so I will never agree. Avoid Home Advisor business. I prefer to give them 0 rating.
They constantly cold call from numerous spoofed numbers. I've told them over and over that I am not interested. Yet, they keep calling and trying to sell their crappy service.
I SIGHN UP WITH HOME ADVISOR AND THEY PROMISED ME WORK AND LOT MORE JUST TRYING TO CATCH ME IN. I ACCEPTED THE LEADS, CALLED THEM AS I SUPPOSED TO AND NEVER GOT THE CREDIT FOR THE LEADS AND WHEN I CALLED TO GIVE ME CREDIT FOR THEY SAID THEY CAN'T. ONE OF THEM TOLD ME ONE THINK AND THE OTHER SUPERVISOR TOLD ME SOMETHING ELSE. ATHEY SEND THE LEAD TO 3+ CONTRACTORS AND IF THEY ALL ACCEPT THE LEADS THEY ALL ARE CHARGED FOR. SOME OF THE ADDRESSES NOT EVEN EXIST SAME WITH THE PHONE NUMBERS. ALL THE AGENTS FROM HOME ADVISOR ARE TRAINED TO FULL YOU NOT EVEN ONE IS A TRUSTWORTHY AGENT NONE OF THEM. THEY ARE GETTING MILLIONAIRE WITH RIPPING OFF CONTRACTORS. WE ARE WORKING TO HARD TO BEING FULL BY THEM. WE ALL HAVE TO GET TOGETHER AND STOP THIS KIND OF SCAM.
Last year they wanted me to join... I hesitated for a month.
Okay, I signed up and gave them $285 and they were supposed to give me leads.
I am a General Building Contractor for over 40 years... and I thought maybe a new idea to use this company as the Marketing Firm... to help my company with leads.
Seems that the leads were 2 hours away from my office... no way was I going to drive this far... out of my area.
I said what about the leads... so then they charged me an over the board fee for leads out of my area...
Originally the leads were supposed to be $65-70 per lead... then they charged me $130 for a lead... no way again.
I called again to their office and the woman of whom signed me up... well they would not let me talk to her... she is only the sales person of whom lies more.
I rejected all their B. S. and asked for my money back... but they said it has been a month.
What it has been 3 weeks with no leads and more money spent... I went to my bank and asked for my money back. In 3 weeks all was okay and my money was returned.
Please do not sign up with this company... bad news for Contractors.
I requested a house keeper for a monthly visit and scheduled a day and time 3 weeks in advance. Every day the week of the appointment I received a text message reminding me of my appointment at 1 pm on the day that I requested.
I took a few hours off work on that day to be there to let the housekeeper in, and 9 minutes before the appointment I received a text message and email stating that Home Advisor was re-scheduling my appointment because a professional was not available to
Clean my house. I had already pre-paid for the cleaning ad was expecting this to be done for a party the following day.
Totally unprofessional. It took 3 emails and a phone call to cancel the contract and receive a refund of he money paid. I will never use Home Advisor again, and will let everyone I know of their poor service.
They threatened us. The police are involved. They threatened us. The police are involved. They threatened us. The police are involved.
I am an electrical professional... Chris Taylor told me they are waiving the $300 yearly fee... lol... good thing my card declined, because he went straight for the 300 dollars... I mean straight up Lied... Do not even talk on the phone with this group of fake, scammers...
I made appointment for a locksmith for a Monday since i am off that day i prepaid the full amount of service so i could make sure someone would be there that day. Instead i get a text say ing due to a pro call off that they were going to set it for the next day one sending me a text was rude someone should have called me they did not! Folks to me this was unacceptable i paid ahead of time for the service ahead of time for that Monday thats what i should get. I did this i am not off the rest of the week so it would be ext Monday before o could have them come again. I did text this back and let them know got no response. I email them with all the same info i put here i got email back saying the same thing the text said again it show they really did not listen. So i called them and at first the Agent said said the same after i explain the whole again over the phone i ask for a supervisor had to wait 20 mins to him he said he was going to call around to try get a another person to come still waiting on call said they would call in a few hrs i stress that i expect service that day if not then i expect service asap for for free or at least half cost since there guarantee would mean a whole lot. I am most upset about sending a text rather than calling me when and if i get service will update or if have to get a refund and go somewhere else i will update on that to for now i would not use there new guarantee service it is a totally does not work and is a lie
I have a company who does the counter top they told me I don't need a license in order to install and sale granite quartz tops, as soon as they charge My card they start sending me tile repair works and I realized they scammed me! I email and called and said Stop don't charge me cancel my service and return my money back and they did not respond at all 5 emails send no one is responded stay away beware from them!
Do not business with them Never! They are fully scammed people until got the money
Homeadvisor took my money and then several times scheduled work and then two hours before the work was to start cancelled and rescheduled it. Obviously, they never had any commitment from anyone to do the work but were happy to have my money and mess up all my plans. Terrible! Will never use it again.
I am highly disappointed in the lack of service I have received from Home Advisor. I was supposed to have leaves removed from my front and back yard last Monday, 11/4. It is now Friday, 11/8, and the job that was supposed to take 2 hours is still not complete. Home Advisor has sent 3 different contractors who have failed to complete the job. Today the 4th contractor was supposed to come to finish the job and didn't show up. I have wasted hours on the phone this week being transferred, put on hold, told I would received calls back that never were, and been given assurances that the job would be complete. I have asked numerous times for their corporate office's direct line and email but was refused. All I am asking is for the job to be completed, but for some unknown reason this still hasn't happened. Does anyone at Home Advisor care about customer service. Obviously not.
As a contractor I have been contacted by Home Adviser sales reps on multiple occasions. Normally I've been to busy, and not looking for more work, but decided to take a minute to hear out one of the Reps about leads. The rep from H.Ad. Continued to call and pressure me to respond to jobs they had been emailing me, even though I explained I wasn't interested in any of the smaller leads they were pushing my way.
The rep continued to call, and was increasingly rude and tried to high pressure me to take their low quality leads... until I finally informed them to remove me from any and all contact lists.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
