I too have been scammed by this company. It seems there are simply not enough people in their network to do what they are trying to do. My very first appointment was rescheduled on Wednesday to Friday and again, 1 hour before I get a message saying nobody is coming. So my first two appointments failed. Who does this? I have been in contact via email as that is the absolute only way to contact Handy. While they agreed to refund my cleaning fee, they are telling me if I cancel early that I have to pay $99. Does not seem fair since they can't keep up their end of the deal. I called my credit card company and they will block any future charges from Handy. They said many others have had issues with Handy. They won't be getting that $99 bucks. This is very much a scam. I am so disappointed. I do know the CEO is listed as Oisin Hanrahan and he is listed with a phone number on white pages and is also on LinkedIn and Facebook.
Great service. Booked 2 days before and I was matched with an amazing professional! Samantha knew what to do, how to do it and after 8 hours still had a great and positive attitude! A true asset to Handy! I highly recommend using Handy!
This app and service is a big disappointment. If no one picks up your service then you have to reschedule. This happened 3 times in one week for a house cleaning. When I reached out to the company and asked to be let out of my 6 month contract they said it would cost me $99 to cancel. They are the ones that cannot fulfill the service but I will have to pay to cancel. They are not reputable in my opinion. Going to see if I can report to the BBB.
They expect you to travel up to 100 miles each way for job that pays $12.85, if you. Cancel the job immediately they charged me $10. WTF. ALL THEIR POLICIES ARE A CATCH 22. They probably make more from their workers than from the customer.
The deal with Wayfair nets them twice what they are paying you to do the assembly. Beware. I hope law enforcement is reading this. That's about the only way they will ever treat anyone with a
Any respect...
When a Judge tells them maybe they will listen.
The lady sent to clean came from Angies list I think.
She was wonderful as I can not keep up with things around here (housekeeping) the way I used to. She was pleasant, worked very hard and had everything she needed with her. Would really like for her to come back when I can again place a call for help.
My elderly moms' Nest thermostat sent us an email that her house was getting hotter although the AC was constantly running. Nest recently partnered with Handy and recommended we get someone to come check it out. The average review for the AC contractors is 4.5 out of 5 stars and if they don't find any issues, Nest will refund you the cost of the checkup. So I booked her an urgent appointment for the next morning between 8 am - 12 pm. Not only did no one show up for the appointment, they would only reschedule for the next day between 8-12 pm and would only approve a $10 discount. So now I have to leave my 74-year old mom in a very hot house for yet another day because of their incompetency - I canceled them and will be reaching out to Nest to let them know about this bad partnership.
The handy man was awesome. He put the TV up with no problems. He wasn't weird or awkward. He knew what he was doing and had all the tools with him.
The only issue I had was with walmart who sent an email to me stating they delivered my tv wall mount but they never shipped it. However, they resolved the issue. I had to buy a more expensive wall mount however walmart will reimburse me my money.
My next issue was with handy.com. When i was trying to see if the handy man come with the wall mount they didn't know who I was in their system but sent me an email the next day for a rating for their company.
First visit, all the girl did was complain because the house was bigger then she expected even though I put all the home details in the contract. Second visit was a very young guy who did not know how to clean at all. Third time I scheduled for electrical work. It was cancelled twice, then when someone finally agreed to take the job he stated that he was not an electrician and was not sure if he could even do the job. Forth visit was for a cleaning at 9am. I received a text ar 8:52 stating the person who was scheduled canceled and was coming the following Sunday. On top of that they charged ME $15 to reschedule. I was stuck in their 6 month contract so each month they were taking money from my account. There is NO customer service other then email so your complaints go unresolved. I will never use this service again.
Handy.com was highly recommended by Wayfair when I purchased an Armoire that needed assembly. I read the product instructions and realized I needed help. As is the case with products purchased from Ikea, Wayfair also sells merchandise that requires lots of valuable time to assemble which I don't have.
It was worth every penny to hire someone with patience and the skillset to take a thousand pieces and make a finished product in a couple of hours.
I noticed that Handy.com, which offers similar services to Task Rabbit, can help with a lot of in home projects. I will use Handy.com again in the near future because you receive value for money well spent.
After being scheduled out for over a month to install new stove, Handy cancelled 2 hours before scheduled time and rescheduled (without contacting me) for a Sunday at 9am. I responded back to the email stating that was unsatisfactory, and I got a response stating somebody would be responding and reviewing within 60 minutes. 16 hours later (still nothing) I sent another email and got a BS fluff response 'sorry for the inconvenience'. Sunday morning of rescheduled time, I get a call from the assigned installer 20 minutes after he's supposed to be here giving me a wild story of covid, blackout, car crash, hospital - essentially he's not coming. But, he would like me to say that he had done the job and then he would come on his own time the following Thursday and 'make it right'. OR, and I quote, "I can just be mad at him". It was insane. Nevertheless, I cancelled for a refund and am reporting to the Better Business Bureau.
My handyman today was very helpful in installing a new fan at my house. He was right one time (actually a few minutes early!) and got right to work. The job was done pretty quickly and Todd was very friendly throughout. Really the only complaint was that he left the box the fan came in behind with the Styrofoam. We're moving though so I've already repurposed the box. Just need to get rid of the Styrofoam.
Zachary did a great job. He was on time. He was very polite. He knew what to do to get the job done. He worked by himself taking out old mattress and frame and setting up the new one. Also, made sure everything was cleaned up.
From the time that Michael arrived, he was friendly and very courteous. He completed the job, went over what he put together, the key pieces and what they were used for. Enjoyed him, if we ever need something put together again, I hope we get him.
Bought a beautiful heavy framed mirror for my bedroom and used Handy for installation. Urian did a perfect job! Needed to use extra supports not included with mirror and it's now sturdy and looks great! Very professional!
Handy is the worst. Spend the extra money and hire someone else. Either they didn't show up or they would keep rescheduling. Can't get a straight answer from the customer support. HEY HANDY, GO TO HELL
Ive used them twice and both times they sent people who had no idea what they were going. The first guy plain admitted he was a carpenter and didnt know how to install a ceiling fan but would try. The cleaning person I was sent literally made my house dirtier and had to be told that windex was not for would floors but for windows. I ended up cleaning everything over. Clearly there is no screening for experience at all. Do not use them.
I ordered a bathroom cabinet with 4 drawers that requires assembly. To save myself from the hassle and frustration of putting this cabinet together I ordered ir with the assembly service. I'm very glad I did. Handy sent reminders for the booking, the handy pro was professional, courteous, followd safey protocol and completed the task in a timely manner. I will book Handy again!
Huge waist of time! I went to their website and followed their directions. I put exactly what I was looking to have done and accepted the time and date offered. I paid in full by credit card. Just before the appointment they cancelled by text and assigned a new date and time they will come to do the work. This happened 3 more times. The last time they emailed me a cancellation saying sorry and said they would refund my credit card payment but it would take 3 to 5 business days.
Florinel arrived bang on time and put together a tv stand for me, together with LED lights and in a fraction of the time envisaged.
Florinel put plastic boot covers on without being asked to & was very informative & exuded confidence in the task in hand.
I would recommend his workmanship for any job like this.
I had a 75" TV that needed to be installed on the wall. It's a 2-man job and the second guy never showed. I called Handy several times to find out where he was and they did NOTHING when I inquired, they just kept saying "he's on his way". He never showed up and I had to help the installer myself (old woman with a bad back). Garret, the one installer that arrived on time did the work of 2 men to get the job done, but ZERO customer service from Handy. I'll NEVER book anything with them again.
Answer: They don't provide a refund, even when they fail to honor the agreement. In my case, they have twice (so far) canceled my house cleaning with one hour's notice. (If I fail to give 24 hours notice of cancellation, I have to pay a penalty. For them, no notice, no penalty.) They told me they were having trouble finding cleaners in my area. And if the no shows are a problem for me, I can pay the $99 cancellation fee. So how long does this go on? Three cancellations, five, ten? Forever? This is an irresponsible company with horrible customer service.
Answer: Im having problems getting paid. I told client to have cash on hand as I wont do the job. Good luck finding someone else with my skill set. Im supposed to do a job tomorrow that i have to buy stuff out of my own money and hold my breath for pay back. Ill stand on a corner begging for money before I do another job for them unless they pay me for past jobs and I talk to someone on the phone.
Answer: Again, these should not be appearing in the automatic feed for FAQ's? Who is doing QA around here?
Answer: Probably should not list someone's personal telephone number in the FAQ feed. What do you guys think?
Answer: Wayfair is also a scam. It's just a matter of time. They are a middle man to hundreds of businesses. They sell products regardless of whether or not the product is available or in inventory. Eventually people will catch on...
