The whole process was pretty simple. We were in and out in 5 minutes for pick up. Checking back in was less than a minute. Car was clean and reliable. The price was reasonable. My only issue was there were too many people trying to get on the shuttles back to the airport, so we ran later than we would have liked. That's not all on them. I suppose we could have dropped the car off earlier, but we didn't plan on having to wait for 3 shuttles before we could get on.

Booked and prepaid for vehicle via online broker. On arrival at Glasgow Airport all documents and financials in order but told that I had been denied insurance. Unable to provide a reason, but was after I had declined their 'offer' of an excess reduction premium which amounted to almost the cost of the rental. Cancelled my booking and refused to even provide me a refund saying I had to take it up with broker. Totally unhelpful, unprofessional and rude. I have been renting cars for 30 year without incident. This was an appalling experience: Even refused to give me lift back to airport on shuttle bus as 'it is only for customers'. This outfit is a scam whose business model seems to be to lure customers via advertised low rates then slug you with extra costs at the time of pick up. If you refuse to pay them they simply cancel your booking with no reasonable justification. This is predatory marketing and is in breach of consumer law. I have reported this to the UK authorities. I remain out of pocket over $1400 not including the additional costs I have incurred in securing an alternative hire (no issue with 'insurance').
Avoid this company at all costs. They are unethical and extremely dodgy. Given the catalogue of negative reviews I have subsequently found online about them over the past decade it is astounding that they are still in business.

I only gave a star because there is no less -- this company is all about using your moment of weakness to steal your money. My booking was cancelled cause i didnt pickup my car (my flight was delayed). So they forced me to pay extra to get an "upgrade" which was smaller car than the original one booked.

The worst customer service, and rental car experience ever! We were supposed to pick our car up at 8 PM, our flight got delayed and then we arrived at the rental desk at 9 PM. Only to be told that our car reservation had been canceled since we were over 30 minutes late and the cars were all given away and they had nothing left! No apologies, no refunds for our prepaid booking and the service agent was an $#*! to us, and the other three couples, they did the exact same thing to! When you have paid for a car in advance, how can they give away your booking! I have never heard of this ever before with any other car, rental agency I have used!

Definitely one of the best hire car companies in London Stansted. I always try to use them when I need a car at Stansted.
We rented a car in Cape Town International. Green Motion took out a large amount of money for a 'deposit' - actually 10 x the car rental amount. Typically when renting they simply reserve the amount and don't pull it out of your account. Upon returning the car, we have not had our deposit refunded. When trying to contact them they are unhelpful, put you on hold indefinitely and cannot give you any information. Upon looking at the reviews for this branch, they seem to hold this deposit indefinitely. This seems highly irregular and unethical. I would certainly not recommend this as a rental agency. It's far better to pay the extra and use one of the regular services. Please do research and beware!

Answer: I have used them many times, always cheapest, always very new cars, always charming and helpful staff ( Stansted Airport). Every firm will try to get you to upgrade. Buy a 3rd party policy, and just say you have your own cover. Up to now I have never been scammed. I ALWAYS inspect the vehicle before. I drive off. I take photos and make sure I get it inspected and signed off by staff when I take it back.
Answer: Speeding/parking tickets and police action are slow. They keep the deposit until they are sure there will be no problems with any of those costs. (and yeah, would be speeding fine + massive green motion fee).

I can confirm that security deposits are automatically released by Green Motion on the last day of your rental after it has been established that the rental vehicle has been returned in the same condition as it was provided, and there are no further outstanding charges. Whilst in most cases this is available again within 10 working days, unfortunately, this can take up to 30 days depending on the bank that you use. We suggest that you contact your bank as they may be able to speed this process up for you. Green Motion's policy is to use pre-authorised transactions for our security deposits, which ring-fence the amount within your account, not charge it. This pre-authorised transaction will allow us to make charges if necessary at the end of the rental, but unless this occurs no money will leave your account. Due to the nature of this transaction, the release of these funds may not show on your bank statement as a separate transaction. If you believe that you have been charged your security deposit, please contact your bank and ask them to provide proof of the transaction as a charge on the first day of your rental so that we can look further into this for you. If this amount is still not available in your account after 30 days from the last day of your rental, please contact us at escalation@cs.greenmotion.com. Answer: I believe Green Motion are a perfectly fair and respectful company. I suspect you didn't read their Ts&Cs properly. The two customers being served while I was collecting my car had also not read/understood the conditions and were caught by surprise. The representative dealt with them firmly but fairly.
