I travel quite a bit for both business and pleasure, and Green Motion is likely the worst car hire I have ever experienced. On a family trip to the UK, my credit card travel agency offered Green Motion as a option for car rentals. I saw several poor ratings of the Company online, but because my agency offered them, they could not be too bad; I was wrong! I prepaid rentals for two (2) vehicles through Green Motion for our travels in the UK. One in London was never delivered, forcing me to make last minute arrangements with another provider, but I have not been able to get a refund on the charge. The second was a van in Scotland that had an issue with a leak in a tire. This happened in the middle of nowhere (to be fair it was the Scottish Highlands, but pretty isolated), and attempts to contact the company were futile. I ended up changing the tire myself (not a big issue, but inconvenient) and it was not until the next day that they returned my email asking if they could assist. On top of the absolutely terrible customer service, I requested a two (2) day extension on the rental, and the three day at £228.00 rental turned into £996.00. I have made several attempts to reach the company via their recommended contact and escalation numbers, and each time have been informed that due to call volume I had to send an email. Several have been sent with no reply. I will never recommend nor rent from this company again. Date of experience: 10 March 2023

The staff at Bristol airport were indeed very helpful, however I was assigned an electric car which made my experience a total nightmare, I searched for a car with automatic gears, and was proposed this car but it was not clearly marked as "electric". No good. Next time I will be more carefull but I would expect mrpoe transarency from both rentalcars and greenmotion.

Answer: I have used them many times, always cheapest, always very new cars, always charming and helpful staff ( Stansted Airport). Every firm will try to get you to upgrade. Buy a 3rd party policy, and just say you have your own cover. Up to now I have never been scammed. I ALWAYS inspect the vehicle before. I drive off. I take photos and make sure I get it inspected and signed off by staff when I take it back.
Answer: Speeding/parking tickets and police action are slow. They keep the deposit until they are sure there will be no problems with any of those costs. (and yeah, would be speeding fine + massive green motion fee).

I can confirm that security deposits are automatically released by Green Motion on the last day of your rental after it has been established that the rental vehicle has been returned in the same condition as it was provided, and there are no further outstanding charges. Whilst in most cases this is available again within 10 working days, unfortunately, this can take up to 30 days depending on the bank that you use. We suggest that you contact your bank as they may be able to speed this process up for you. Green Motion's policy is to use pre-authorised transactions for our security deposits, which ring-fence the amount within your account, not charge it. This pre-authorised transaction will allow us to make charges if necessary at the end of the rental, but unless this occurs no money will leave your account. Due to the nature of this transaction, the release of these funds may not show on your bank statement as a separate transaction. If you believe that you have been charged your security deposit, please contact your bank and ask them to provide proof of the transaction as a charge on the first day of your rental so that we can look further into this for you. If this amount is still not available in your account after 30 days from the last day of your rental, please contact us at escalation@cs.greenmotion.com. Answer: I believe Green Motion are a perfectly fair and respectful company. I suspect you didn't read their Ts&Cs properly. The two customers being served while I was collecting my car had also not read/understood the conditions and were caught by surprise. The representative dealt with them firmly but fairly.
