This website is nice! I can rent video games and movies for not too much. I love their promotions that if you haven't used their services for a while now, you can sign up for real cheap. I can use this service to try out games before buying them (if they don't have an online demo).
However, it can take a while for the disc to get here in NYC after being shipped. If you don't receive it after seven days, you can report it as lost and they can send in another of the same game or something else on your queue. Sometimes the discs DO genuinely go missing. Also, the self-return thing is quite nice. Even if you won't send back the game on the same day, you can use this thing. They must receive the disc fourteen days after you mark it as self-return. This gives you time to play it some more. After you do mark it as self-returned, they will send you the next disc when they ship it out next.
I took off a star because the shipping can take too long and that the service at regular price is a tad too expensive for me.
I tried to buy something because of how cheap the games were and I got an email stating that I needed to go through all this red tape to verify my purchase, and have my credit card company call them, but I didn't use a credit card. Customer support is terrible, just pay the extra $5.00 and buy from ebay or gamestop, hard lesson learned.
So not only does this service falsely advertise for free shipping, it's free shipping is locked to the rental service so if you want to buy anything expect a 20$ shipping fee. On top of that they don't take your order seriously whatsoever. 24-48 hours to ship the product not counting the time it takes to get to the shipping facility. They advertise their shipping as priority but the only priority they have is getting you to subscribe to their inefficient mail in service. I wouldnt recommend buying or renting anything from this site.
This place is terrible, your games spend more time in transit and waiting for game-locked games to re-game-lock because they were taken off by the site. Now my account is sitting idle and I'm paying for not having games when I had game-locked games available. PlayStation has a similar model and it's way better for the money and time. What a shame.
Was told my purchase was under review but they did not specify which purchase. Asked questions that weren't answered, like which order was an issue, and was not offered any help. Only received copy and paste answers. When I had a chance to call in to verify this order, I was placed on hold and then hung up on almost 10 minutes later. Worst customer service experience. Why do I have to jump through hoops to give a company my money. Will not be dealing with GameFly ever again.
They only got one star cause it made me. They deserve no stars. Started a free trial for 30 days after cancelling years ago took almost 8 days to get my first game. Kept that for a couple weeks it's been in the mail for 8 days and they still have not got it (witch I know is a USPS problem) there shipping partners are destroying the good thing. I also seen some ads of gameflys on facebook so I was telling people the way it really works not the crap some random worker posts and got blocked. So all in all gamefly is not worth any amount of money waiting for them to get my game so I can cancel cause they will charge you if they don't have game and you cancel.
I locked a game to guarantee I received it when it comes out. How it works is you have to return a game before the new game comes out so they can ensure it can be sent to you. However the last time I sent a game back it took them over four days to confirm it with fast return only for it to fall into the time period of the locked game and now I've received no game until the new game comes out a week from then and of course three days after the game had came out already I had still not received it. I pay almost $30 for two games at a time and always have problems with the return even with fast return and game lock only ensures that I don't have a game for 1/3 of the month. The poor service and bad business would have ended them a long time ago if they had any rival in their industry.
I returned a game and a week later they still have not shipped anything to me. The answer I received is they are to busy to ship me one. But not to busy to keep taking payment for a service I am not receiving. The customer service sucks. Considering the customer service person agree with me that they have horrible service. Don't waste your times
This is my 2nd time using Gamefly and I think it is great. I have had no problems receiving games for Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X. I really like this agency, I thing their prices are reasonable. I will be using them for a long time!
These people are outright thieves and con artists. I am an online seller who makes a living shipping out 100 or more packages a week. For almost two years I have played whack a mole with this company. I considered it a success if a game arrived in 10 days. They are coming from one state away so it should arrive in two days via first class mail. I KNOW how long it takes. All too often they never arrive and I have to report them lost. Or I send them out amongst my other packages and gamefly claims they never arrive. Yet ALL of the packages I send and receive through my business arrive as expected. They seem quick to accept my report of them not arriving and always send another game (at least 15 times this has happened). Which tells me they KNOW what they are doing. When you are setup for 2 rentals and you spend 3 weeks per month dealing with the "loss" of a disc, it is just too much. These people hate their customers. Do NOT use them. If you do after reading this, you deserve what you get. You would think considering all games are turning toward online downloads, they would be fighting to stay relevant by taking care of their customers. They act as though they are supporters of abandoning discs and want to make using discs as miserable as possible. It's quite strange actually.
So...
This sounded great on paper. 2 items per at a time, maybe 2 or 3 movies per week...
After 2 weeks I received 2 movies. Gamefly says:
"it is possible that outside forces could cause delays, such as weather conditions, postal holidays, and local postal performance, just to name a few."
We had no bad weather or postal holidays. I didn't pick USPS, but Gamefly says their performance is not in their control.
BTW, I am only a 5 hour drive from the Gamefly depot.
I would have thought they would push USPS more. I wish they used UPS...
Beware.
I was just now considering going back to Gamefly cause I use to have a subscription way back when they first started but I immediately changed my mind cause I'll give anyone a heads up that's considering they have imo way to small of a selection of games! It was actually shocking to me to see how little amount of games they had for each system! Yea would have to have tons I mean TONS of more game to pick thru before id consider resubscribing
Great if you don't mind playing the older games. I've had Madden 16 in my queue for 3 months, and never got to play it. They need to stock up of lose customers... oh, like me, I quit the sight just before writing this review,
Basically its a Netflix for video games. Great idea and lots of game. Shipping has dramatically improved with more warehouses. I only have two complaints, one is the price. 16$ for one game out at a time per month. A little cheaper would be nice but still cheaper than buying them. The other is that most new games are always out. I have a Queue just like netflix but it usually pulls my 4th or 5th choice games because the others are all rented. Other than that the experience is mostly positive and my kid enjoys getting stuff in the mail too.
None of the games work they are scratched when u decide to stop service they still charge you. Would not recommend to anyone. My unfortunate experience just sucked.
I have a family of gamers so being able to try out games before you buy is a big reason I use Gamefly. I have been with them for over 7 years and can't see myself living without them. My only issue is my mail was tampered with once. The post office didn't help because there was no tracking on the package, but Gamefly's customer service was very helpful. I would recommend to others but I would also recommend you be discreet with your mail because you never know what can happen.
With every blockbuster and hollywood video going bankrupt and closing there are not any retail stores renting games anymore. I signed up and they do have a wide selection but the games I really wanted are still in my que. I will update and let you know if I ever get them. Good site
I subscribed for the 2 games and tried to play games with my spouse on Nintendo switch lites. I couldn't get the same game to play with her even though the game was old and they had a very high availability. I don't know what is the issue with that like I just subscribed and JUST canceled immediately. If I'm paying you money for a game that you have a lot of, why couldn't you arrange that as a service? Unless the game is at low availability then I would understand but such a high availability for an old game is just absurd.
Love, love, LOVE GameFly! They have literally saved me thousands of dollars by letting me rent games for as long as I want instead of buying them. They've kept me from purchasing some real stink-a-roos and I've even been able to find some real gems too! Absolutely a wonderful site!
GameFly is good if you're interested in playing older games and not new releases. They carry new release games but it is extremely hard to get your hands on the big name titles. New Call of Duty? Forget it. But you'll find a large selection of games that have been on the shelf for a little.
Overall, great company but if you want new releases try Red Box.
Answer: Would be nice if gamefly took money orders as another way to pay for renting games..
