As always, these kind of sites should be illegal. In fact, Nintendo should sue these kind of sites. As always, you have to go through a lot of ads and passwords. Not only that, but sometimes it could give your computer a virus if you stay on too long. And it's hard to get the newer ROMs. That's about it.

This site has decided to give it's users some suspicious downloaders every time you click no the download link. Granted, the alternative download links are okay, it's just infuriating that they decided to earn themselves money by scamming users into a downloader that installs malicious programs. Sites like Emuparadise.me are much more safer.
I used to trust this site. It used to be my go to. Not after finding that what I downloaded months ago was a Trojan waiting for instructions.
After reading some of the reviews here I'm glad I did a full malware scan when I did. I just wish it'd been sooner. The regular quick scan my av automatically runs in the background apparently, for whatever misguided reason, doesn't include the user/[username]/downloads folders, so for those of you using Windows Defender*, do yourselves a favor and manually scan those folders on a regular basis.
*the standard av included with windows. I know, I know: I probably shouldn't trust a Microcrap product with something so important but my dad seems to think it's the best freeware av. I'm gonna look for something better after this though...
Gotta love playing the old school games! Bring back memories just thinking about tempest 2000. My big fear about sites like this is that while they do probably have some great emulators, how do I know I am also not downloading a virus? Scares the crap outta me downloading from random sites. There are ways to scan for viruses but I'm not sure they always pick up embedded ones especially if you install them on your PC. Maybe do it on an old laptop if you go this route.
I loved this place, then the installer came around and ruined everything with Trojans. But it doesn't matter any more because it was discovered by Nintendo and most roms have been removed.
I used to go to this site all the time for any games I wanted to play, never got any viruses back then. That all changed when they introduced this "CoolROM downloader". The other day I decided to download a game for the first time in years, didn't really think much of the downloader at first, I made sure to uncheck any of the offers they gave me and what do you know? I still end up with the most annoying adware I've ever encountered in all my years. An absolute pain to deal with, and I find it inexcusable to have your downloader giving many people malware.
It's best to stay away from this site these days. I repeat: Stay away!

As the others said, I got infected. I'm not sure how bad it is, but I think I stopped any malware/spyware infecting my computer. I'm currently running security programs and looking at my accounts to figure out what's going on. :/
I've never had any issues with this site nor have I found any malicious software in the roms.
However, the site was recently hacked (I checked the site yesterday), and I'm not sure if any of the roms were tampered with. The site is up and running again today, so the owner's reaction time is pretty quick. The only issue I've had with it today is that the forums page is down.
Very suspicious, requires running their program to download. The file I downloaded didn't even work correctly. Don't use this unless your on an enemies computer!
Something terrible has happened to this site. It used to be fantastic.
I'm not sure why it uses it's own downloader these days, but every time I have used this downloader to download a rom it has come with a trojan that has allowed all kinds of horrible viruses and malware onto my hard drive.
This is not good enough for a rom site that gets such heavy traffic and is (or was) so favored by gamers.

This site is a complete scam and will steal information as well as disable your start up with blotware and fake virus scanners. Complete and utter garbage. Site owners should be shot.
I know about that f**kin coolrom downloader they put on, and I don't trust that, so I use the alternative download link. With that, I can play a bunch of games that I can record easily! THe best rom site ever!
I used to use coolrom all the time. It was safe and easy to navigate. A week ago I tried to download Pokemon Leaf Green and I got so much adware and malware on my computer that it took me three days to tear it all back out of my computer. Never trusting coolrom again.
I have been trying to get one fu(!^g game out of it's $h!++y Coolrom Downloader for a week now. And i still havnt gotten my fu(!^g game. It always says "not responding" EVERY SINGLE FU(!^G TIME! I love this site. Hey the real privacy your a dip$#*!. This is the best rom website. Their are many roms from gbc to n64 to xbox. This is not a ripoff. Their is an add while waiting for a link but thats all. $#*!.
When I was on coolrom and I downloaded a ps1 rom I wanted to play but now they have their own installer instead of just using 7zip or Winrar. It's filled with bad malware including a virus that spreads on icons to make it slow, it will slow down browsers, games, documents and delete things on usb and sd cards. Its called Optimizer pro. Don't download from coolrom. I recommend Emuparadise.
