Dear Freelancer.com user, I would like to tell you about reality of freelancer.com. I had a freelancer.com account with username syberdev. Freelancer.com has closed my account without any reason and they had reversed all funds to client after many days. When I have talked with them they have told me our decision is final and we can not reverse. I want to tell you everyone your funds are not safe on freelancer.com. You work free for client on freelancer.com. Freelancer.com is good for client because they get completion of project for free of cost.

Macy was able to help sort out my issues in the end.
Thank you very much for quick response and support.
I just joined today on Freelancer.com as a freelancing writer, seriously bored, sick and tired of the unpleasant experiences I had in some other platforms. The prices seem to be high at first sight, but the customer service is incredibly fast (and effective) and the project opportunities I found here seem to be much better than some other places I don't want to name. I have a feeling that I will be working on Freelancer.com regularly from now on.
I had a fantastic experience with the freelancer support staff. They were not only prompt in responding to my queries but also incredibly helpful. Whenever I encountered any issues or needed assistance, they guided me through the process with patience and professionalism. It's reassuring to know that their support is just a message away.
I'm having trouble with my membership subscription and I seek for help from freelancer customer services. Their customer service agent are really helpful in solving my problems
The support was very helpful and the person was very polite and gave clear instructions about what to do.
This is my mistake. But there is no option given to freelancers to refund project fees that have been taken by the platform.
The person in charge assist me so well. Good job! I like it when my curiosity can be solve as sson as possible.
I send my email 28th October 2023 about reopening my freelancer account and Jhay from freelancer support answer my email in the same day. I have communication with Jhay to solve the problem regarding reopen my account. I am still waiting
Magenta helped me on processing milestone refunds, who provided quick and professional actions regarding the matter. It's been a couple of times that freelancer's support is trustable.
I work as freelancer on this site. A client requested me to work on his project, but then the client disappeared. He paid $20 as milestone from $300 budget, I feel fooled by completing the given tasks before having 50% milestone released which is basic principle. Before accepting the project, I have to pay 10% of the project budget just to accept the project which is $30 as contribution to this site. I am okay with this term but not for an abandoned project. I was at disadvantage at the time, glad the support team helped me and cut the fee to $5 which is a profit for me. But I still feel loss because I have done the work. You can Imagine how much time, energy and idea wasted. I hope I don't meet this kind of client next time.
I was working on this site and had a client who assigned me two projects. I accepted both offers, which required a payment of $65 to proceed ($25 for project 1 and $30 for project 2). This was acceptable to me initially, but it became problematic when my client stated that project 1 was mistakenly created. The client cancelled it, however, the fee I paid was not refunded to my balance. I contacted support and was informed that my client needed to delete the project. I relayed this to my client, but my funds were still not returned. Upon contacting support again, my balance was refunded, albeit with the explanation that it was done as a courtesy. Moreover, the chat was abruptly closed by the support agent, which was rather unprofessional. I simply want my money back; there's no reason to pay for a cancelled project. This incident left me feeling quite offended. I would caution others to use or work on this site only if they are prepared to encounter fraudulent practices. It's also widely known that when participating in contests on this site, unscrupulous freelancers may plagiarize your work, and the site takes no action against such plagiarism. Be forewarned! That's all.
Answer: It is a PR platform that enables scammers to appear legitimate or verified. Freelancer doesn't care. They get a sizeable commission no matter if the posting is legitimate or not. Example: A fake ebook listing. Needs author to write 50000 words for US$ 2000. Unwitting freelancer bids and is 'awarded project' with message saying hurry up and accept. Once accepted, freelancer takes 'project fee' while you get tied up in their help callcenter trying to recoup not only the fee but potentially the fake employer gleaned from you using their platform. This site will be in the news soon. Trust me.
Answer: Hi Dejan. This happened to me in 2014, I lost a lot of money too, I withdrew the money on a Wednesday after the client had paid me $1000 in full. Then the next day, Thursday, I got a message that my withdrawal request was cancelled and the money reversed back to employer. My account was suspended and when I asked why, I was told that the employer looked like he was fraudulent and that the money might be fraud. Up to date, I am still bitter, angry and sad over that $1000 but I never got it back and Freelancer closed the person's account and that was that. So I hope this answers some of your questions and I am deeply sorry for your loss after such hard work. All the best
Answer: Freelancer.com focused on employer only, they just want as many employer and project as they can regardless of their country, verification status and deposits. However all the restriction is for employee. This is the reason Freelancer didn't stop them to post project without deposit. Almost 90% projects are fake (either posted by freelancer itself or fake/fraud employers). You have to be careful. Keep following things in mind will prevent you from fraud much. 1. Don't work for Employers from India/Bangladesh/Sri Lanka/Nigeria/Israel 2. Don't work for Employers whose name looks like Indian 3. Once the project is awarded to you, don't accept it unless the employer created initial milestone. Wait for at least 12 hours after milestone creation then accept it. 4. Ask for release step by step, don't work on next milestone unless previous is not released 5. Withdraw money from freelancer as fast as you can.
Answer: You can't say its fake but at the same time you can't just trust it fully. My point here is: people do get things done for the price but when it comes to money/payment, you can not trust freelancer. Sometimes it gets reversed from your account and you won't even get a satisfactory reason for it. I suffered a loss of 900 USD. All I get to hear that employer had some account issues and we can not disclose this any further. If you looking to work as a freelancer, go odesk or upwork and any other site first and then freelancer.com. Small incident: I worked for a client, designed the logo got the parent for it. Next day when looged in, my account showed negative balance ( payment reversed). Support: employer have acc. Issues Client: never came back or responded to any mails. Result: I worked and still in debt.
Answer: Dispute it with PayPal! Another beautiful example of why everyone hates Freelancer.
Answer: Freelancer is scam. I have very bad experience recently. "The payments you've received from your employer "-----------" were reversed due to their account issues. As a result, their account was closed" Lost over 800$. Freelancer also keep the fee for this job! Their support never answer. SCAM
Answer: Agree, do not use credit card details - freelancer is a terrible organisation when it comes to finances - they just debit your card at will, no warning, no opportunity to review the transaction, no notification of the charge - you just find out once you get your bank statement. Be very, very wary of this company - not saying their dodgy, BUT they are very devious when it comes to transactions. I think their motto is - "debit any time, just don't tell them and they wont complain"
Answer: Contact Paypal and file a dispute. I got a refund for the monthly amount that they should not have charged me for.
Answer: Good afternoon Rostyslav, unfortunately this has happened to most users of Freelancer including people who have been awarded projects. Ensure that you do not start any work or event accept a project until the following criteria have been met: 1. Project awarded 2. Initial milestone/deposit created 3. Client agrees to release the first payment immediately after you accepting the project. If they are unable to do this, tell then politely that you are unwilling to start on the project and keep looking for honest, legitimate clients. Be careful at all time on this website, even if you do vey thing by the book and the client still doesn't pay, the Freelancer support team will not help you. It is left to you to contact the client and chase the payment even of they delete their account.
Answer: Don't share you card. Use Paypal. First of all don't use freelancer they are scammers.
