As an employer or as a Worker I Found Freelancer Prefect. I recommend it to everyone. This site is real life changer.
The system to so easy to use, A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+AAA+++++++++
First to be clear the only way to contact this hugely profitable company is with a support@ email address, thats it, no phone number.
I am trying to get someone at freelancer.com support to actually do something about one of thier members, who threatened and bullied me, hacked into my site, using the hack code HE had left in it, while do a project that he never completed. He then blackmailed me into payment and leaving a 5 star review or he would delte my whole website. He much glee in this fact.
'you need to leave me review, i can't leave it like this.'
'i am following you on this. '
'you are gonna pay big for this. '
'i want it 100% positive or I will take all your stuff down '
I have now sent 7 separate emails to Freelancer support, where I am told '
'We recommend that you communicate with your freelancer to resolve any project-related issues amicably.'
Well I have tried and tried, begged infact for him to leave me alone, he had even called me 3 times to abuse me further. We have now had to block his number, his IP address in India.
I have even email him this morning to ask again for my money back, then told him I have notified them of the abuse, he has literally told me, that he isn't worried as Freelancer.com won't actually do anything. So clearly this has happened before.
To clarify he hacked into MY website and blackmailed me into payment and the review and they seem to be supporting this guy, I presume because they get more money from him than me, absolutely shocking.
Surely they cannot let this happen to someone else. Why don't you surprise us all Freelancer.com and actually do something about this?
One of the best experiment I had in a live chat, thank you: D
I would definitely work again with you because of the great service I had by you thank you so much!
UPDATE: I was finally able to get reply from a client for this project. They say they did not receive their money back, so where is it then? Also one of support workers at freelancer.com told me that they had to give a chargeback because it was an hourly project. What a joke.
When I started on freelancer.com, some 3 years ago, it was a good website to find projects and earn decent money. Now, my latest project was the complete nightmare. Client decided to throw insults as soon as I have completed the work we agreed upon. Then said they won't pay and how I ruined their website.
After trying to calm things down for over a week, which was longer than what project lasted, I decided to go for arbitration and paid $12 in fees just for that. Some 4 days later I got an email saying that client has released the funds (funds were in milestone) and that I have won the dispute. Even got XP for that, which I find extremely useless. Went to withdraw funds, only to receive another email that withdrawal was cancelled. I checked my funds on freelancer.com and it was all there. I have sent an e-mail to their support asking what's going on.
This same day, several hours later, money was gone from my account, with no explanation whatsoever. What's worse I suddenly have a negative balance, so where did that come from? I tried sending another e-mail to freelancer.com support and got no reply. So once this negative balance has been resolved I will most likely close my account there and focus on other sites that give support to both freelancers and employers.
I have contacted live support here is the summary: I won the dispute but due to the payment being made as milestone the client was entitled to get a chargeback. They released money to my account, charged me 10% fee then took money and gave it back to the client. I am done with freelancer.com, cancelled my membership and opened a dispute for arbitration fee. This is beyond belief.
Hi Dolores, this is Marcus, one of the tier-2 representatives of Freelancer.com. I understand your frustration in regard to the reversed payment. My colleague, Nicholas, is working on your account issues and he already updated your ticket ID: EBV-399-41354. Please check his message and feel free to address all of your issues there.

Answer: It is a PR platform that enables scammers to appear legitimate or verified. Freelancer doesn't care. They get a sizeable commission no matter if the posting is legitimate or not. Example: A fake ebook listing. Needs author to write 50000 words for US$ 2000. Unwitting freelancer bids and is 'awarded project' with message saying hurry up and accept. Once accepted, freelancer takes 'project fee' while you get tied up in their help callcenter trying to recoup not only the fee but potentially the fake employer gleaned from you using their platform. This site will be in the news soon. Trust me.
Answer: Hi Dejan. This happened to me in 2014, I lost a lot of money too, I withdrew the money on a Wednesday after the client had paid me $1000 in full. Then the next day, Thursday, I got a message that my withdrawal request was cancelled and the money reversed back to employer. My account was suspended and when I asked why, I was told that the employer looked like he was fraudulent and that the money might be fraud. Up to date, I am still bitter, angry and sad over that $1000 but I never got it back and Freelancer closed the person's account and that was that. So I hope this answers some of your questions and I am deeply sorry for your loss after such hard work. All the best
Answer: Freelancer.com focused on employer only, they just want as many employer and project as they can regardless of their country, verification status and deposits. However all the restriction is for employee. This is the reason Freelancer didn't stop them to post project without deposit. Almost 90% projects are fake (either posted by freelancer itself or fake/fraud employers). You have to be careful. Keep following things in mind will prevent you from fraud much. 1. Don't work for Employers from India/Bangladesh/Sri Lanka/Nigeria/Israel 2. Don't work for Employers whose name looks like Indian 3. Once the project is awarded to you, don't accept it unless the employer created initial milestone. Wait for at least 12 hours after milestone creation then accept it. 4. Ask for release step by step, don't work on next milestone unless previous is not released 5. Withdraw money from freelancer as fast as you can.
Answer: You can't say its fake but at the same time you can't just trust it fully. My point here is: people do get things done for the price but when it comes to money/payment, you can not trust freelancer. Sometimes it gets reversed from your account and you won't even get a satisfactory reason for it. I suffered a loss of 900 USD. All I get to hear that employer had some account issues and we can not disclose this any further. If you looking to work as a freelancer, go odesk or upwork and any other site first and then freelancer.com. Small incident: I worked for a client, designed the logo got the parent for it. Next day when looged in, my account showed negative balance ( payment reversed). Support: employer have acc. Issues Client: never came back or responded to any mails. Result: I worked and still in debt.
Answer: Dispute it with PayPal! Another beautiful example of why everyone hates Freelancer.
Answer: Freelancer is scam. I have very bad experience recently. "The payments you've received from your employer "-----------" were reversed due to their account issues. As a result, their account was closed" Lost over 800$. Freelancer also keep the fee for this job! Their support never answer. SCAM
Answer: Agree, do not use credit card details - freelancer is a terrible organisation when it comes to finances - they just debit your card at will, no warning, no opportunity to review the transaction, no notification of the charge - you just find out once you get your bank statement. Be very, very wary of this company - not saying their dodgy, BUT they are very devious when it comes to transactions. I think their motto is - "debit any time, just don't tell them and they wont complain"
Answer: Contact Paypal and file a dispute. I got a refund for the monthly amount that they should not have charged me for.
Answer: Good afternoon Rostyslav, unfortunately this has happened to most users of Freelancer including people who have been awarded projects. Ensure that you do not start any work or event accept a project until the following criteria have been met: 1. Project awarded 2. Initial milestone/deposit created 3. Client agrees to release the first payment immediately after you accepting the project. If they are unable to do this, tell then politely that you are unwilling to start on the project and keep looking for honest, legitimate clients. Be careful at all time on this website, even if you do vey thing by the book and the client still doesn't pay, the Freelancer support team will not help you. It is left to you to contact the client and chase the payment even of they delete their account.
Answer: Don't share you card. Use Paypal. First of all don't use freelancer they are scammers.
Hi Ashley, Marcus from Freelancer.com here. It's perfectly understandable that you're very upset about what happened to your project. It is unfortunate to hear that the freelancer whom you hired has hacked your website and blackmailed you. I wish to look into your account to review what has happened and see what we can do to resolve this issue. Please send me an email to marcusc@freelancer.com with your username and project ID so I can further review it. It would also be a great help if you can include the ticket IDs you have gotten from our Support Team. Thank you and I hope to hear from you soon.
