They convince in store that adding 2nd like be saving me promising me offers but kept on charging me for 4 month for the line that was never active or never used. I kept on requesting to cancel and it was not cancelled. I requested to manager to contact be back but they didn't call be back even after 4times. They only offered me $5 off for 6 month charging me for the line that was never activated. But charged me $270 for something I never wanted and requested to cancel. Very unprofessional and rude, then they just hang up phone when they don't want to deal with the problem.

Been using $15/month no-contract since circa 2018 when Shaw Communications owned FM. Got ripped off by Telus and Rogers prior. Since Quebecor/Videotron bought FM, payment errors started with a new credit card. The FM text message link went to an error page. Their cs by text looped back asking the same question ad nauseam. Payment attempts failed due to "system error". Paid via a person who set up Autopay, but so minutes later, got a failure text message. Talked again to a live person who now says, that all ok, and to ignore that 'Autopay failure' text message. (Also, my Visa card would not allow Autopay.)

Incoming calls go into voicemail with 1 bar signal. Text messages worldwide are okay always.

My Note 8 purchased from FM is supposed to work with WiFi calling, but does not. Store techies could not fix this. If I buy another phone, I would first have the store prove the phone works with WiFi calling.

I am satisfied with my $15 monthly payments.

No support
October 1, 2023

Once they make a mistake, there is no way of contacting them. The phone number puts you on hold forever and a non-native english speaker will read you terms and conditions. Do not expect a resolution

Extremely Disappointed
November 2, 2023

I am extremely disappointed that I must give 1 star to leave a comment as Freedom Mobil in no way deserves even 1 star.

Sitting still at my kitchen table in Aldergrove, BC. In the area of 248 Street between 28 Avenue and 30 Avenue there is virtually NO SERVICE. I can't connect to 611 to complain unless I leave the area.

Once I leave my home area the service improves to the point where it is just very bad.

Their service map is in no way accurate for the area in which I live or the service on 16 Avenue between White Rock and Abbotsford, BC.

Freedom mobile has greatly exceeded my expectations. This review is real and not a fake.
I was skeptical of Freedom due to all of the negative reviews I had read. I needed a new plan and decided I would try their prepaid plan to see if it would work for me. After testing their coverage for several days, I decided to go all in with one of there postpaid plans. Of note here, I was running several SIM cards at a time in my IPhone. I was comparing the coverage from Freedom with a couple of the larger carriers. I performed speed tests and field tests to compare.
Where I live on Vancouver Island, Freedom easily and continuously outperformed their rivals. Although Freedom does not have 5G on Vancouver Island, I managed to pull off 252 MBPS on their 4G(LTE) network. I'll take that any day. PS, I could bairly get a signal from the other carriers in this specific location. The 252 Mbps was an exception, however speeds of 30 to 80 Mbps were quite frequent.
On top of the above, I have a Canada and USA plan to and from and 1000 international minutes for less then what the other carriers charge for their starter plans.
My only knock with Freedom is that their coverage map could be updated. That is, their coverage locations have grown, but their map hasn't been updated.
I have held off on writing this review, well because, I don't want to share the bandwidth.
I have recommended Freedom Mobility to family and friends who have switched over and none of us have any complaints. We are all very happy with our plans.

Hope my review is helpful.

Spoke Online today via Freedom Chat to activate a contact number (spoke with Gracecelle) only to be told that the SIM Card i ordered a week ago from Freedom mobile cannot be used (paid $10) for the SIM. I was told I need to contact "Freedom Mobile" to follow-up. I asked to speak with a manager she transferred me over to another customer service rep. Ive been with this company for over 10 years.

Regret getting contract
September 20, 2022

Horrendous customer service from the Filipines or Egypt. I requested a Canadian CSR and got someone from Quebec that was just as terrible. I just got a contract, 6gigs for $50 last month. This month $50 is 20gigs, CSR DONT CARE, don't offer help or enhancement.
Also before I signed contract, I was pay as you go and I had just paid a new month when I decided to explore a contract and they didn't mention that pay as you go is not refundable, not even as a credit towards contract 1st invoice. All they cared about was getting the contract signed and rid of you for next sucker on the line. This company is shamelessly horrible. I will be calling them to buy me out of contract and get rid of them.

Absolute incompetence
October 4, 2022

Absolute incompetence. I simply wanted to port my number from Koodo. Well, no. You have to get a 'temporary number' to set up an account, to start a transfer. Of course, they don't tell you this until you get your Sim card and try to start the activation.

And this is after 35 minutes of 'support' to figure out why my number and PIN aren't in their system.

Ok, so give me a temporary number, whatever.

YOU HAVE TO GO TO A STORE TO GET THIS TEMPORARY NUMBER.

Seriously, how can a technology company not be able to remotely give you a TEMPORARY number?

And this is after filling in all their forms and spending ~an hour getting this all set up to get the Sim card in the first place... and it never dawned on the person I was discussing this all with to mention this?

What a waste of my life. Serves me right in trying to deal with a company owned by Shaw. I should have known better.

If you're even thinking about signing up for this service, give your head and good smack and RUN!

Hands down the WORST cellular service I've ever experienced - and I've tried A LOT!

They should never have even signed me up for their network, since my phone (Samsung A30s) is not compatible with their system. Then they blamed ME for not knowing that. No credit for the money wasted that was billed to my credit card for 3 months as I travelled about with a useless paperweight of a phone in my pocket - I could only use it when connected to Wifi, as Freedom Mobile certainly did not offer the freedom to do so.

After explaining to Saed, the manager, on the phone (using a phone supplied by a mall kiosk, since mine could not place calls), he asked if I would consider keeping the service with a $5/mth credit applied. I don't think he listened to a word I said (and that was after speaking to three other, equally unhelpful, "agents"). He refused any form of compensation for the charges to my credit card, commanding me to go to their website to view their service agreement. (I'd think you'd have to actually offer a service before you draft such an agreement - so it's more of a "non-service agreement", really.)

Poor service, horrible coverage areas, and even worse customer service.

It doesn't get any worse than this, folks. Do yourself a favour, and RUN already!

Freedom Mobile Negligence Freedom Mobile through their negligence allowed a sim swap to happen to my account. I was robbed of my identity. The person that was given access to my identity through Freedom Mobile deactivating my SIM card without any prior notice, then giving a new SIM card replacement to a unknown person at one of their locations. This unknown person was able to gain access to all my personal information that I have on my phone. My bank accounts and Coinbase wallet was hacked. I have suffered a financial loss along with my identity. The unknown person used my stolen identity to create other fraudulent accounts in my name. Freedom does not stand behind their customer privacy policies. They will not accept any responsibility for their negligence. If you value your Identity, remember freedom mobile has allowed 1.5 million customers information to be leaked do to their lack of protection customers privacy information from web access. So now this customer account information is being used against their own customers to be robbed and have their identity stolen like me. They will not take responsibility or protect your identity or account. Do a search for Freedom Mobile hacked accounts.

Bad
December 4, 2018

Let me put it like this. I was giving them close to $100 a month for like their ultimate package at the time which was like 10 to 15GB DATA & than they would just throttle your DATA afterwards which was absolute HS, because it's more like they cut you off. By the way I never even came close to 10GB cuz their service was always dropping anywhere I was & it was so slow I would just turn the Mobile Data off & leech off of Walmart while I'm sitting in my car. Yes it's that bad.

When it came to making call's, most of the time I couldn't get through, or I had to wait a long time b4 the dial even came up, & I would consider myself lucky if it didn't drop completely.

Now they may have made some adjustments since than to better improve themselves however, I consider 1st impression's to be very important, & I did not get that with this company.

Freedom mobile is terrible, they charge you for services you didn't get, even though I don't have a monthly plan and I'm on a month to month basis, and when you talk to customer service they refuse to unsubscribe you from things you don't want and don't use and continue to charge you for it, also when you go to the office store where you signed up, they refuse to close the account, claiming that it can only be done over the phone with head office, and then when you call head office they refuse to close the account saying it's to "early" in the month to close the account, they say to call back in 2 weeks, when I call back they say it's still to early to close the account because their system won't do it, so I told them to make a note on their computer that I'm closing the account before my next billing cycle, which they didn't do and began to send me bills for past due, that doesn't even make sense because I on a month to month basis, my service got cut off every month at the billing cycle date, and would only be restored after payment again. Now it's months that I'm no longer with them and they still trying to extort money from me, money I don't owe to them because I never had a plan, only on a month to month basis, so in my books Freedom mobile sucks, I don't recommend it to anyone, there are better cell phone companies like CHATR mobile that offer much better service.

This is what I received on my cover page of my terms of agreement.
I changed my plan to a more expensive plan no problem.

** If you received a MyTab program bonus (in the form of "Device Savings" or "Bonus Savings") offer at the time of activation or upgrade on a device you purchased, and you downgrade within 24 months from an eligible rate plan (i.e., $40 and up plans then currently in market) to a plan that is not eligible for Device Savings or Bonus Savings, or to a plan that is only eligible for a lower Device Savings or Bonus Savings amount, then you will be responsible for paying back all, or a prorated part, of the promotional Device Savings, Bonus Savings or MyTab Savings Rollover you received and are not eligible to carry forward on the new rate plan.

But when I changed my plan back to my original plan suddenly I no longer qualified for the bonus saving and had to pay the bonus savings out now, $272.00, even though this plan also qualifies for the bonus.
When I contacted the manager on shift he reffured me to the terms of agreement / my tab additional terms of service paragraph 5.
Good luck finding it, this took me awhile to find, this is where it states that if you change to a lower rate plan you must pay the difference.
This makes no sense to me since I never changed to a lower rate plan that was less then my original plan and they never gave me a $272.00 credit when I had switched to the more expensive plan.
I was told when I joined freedom mobile that I could change plans with no penalty as long as I stayed with a 5G plan.
Well they lied, don't change your plan unless you are getting a more expensive one.

If it sounds too good to be true it is. US Roaming does NOT work! 40G US-CAN plan is just a CAN plan - calling does not work with their partner AT&T in the US and you may not use more than 25% of data per month each month in the US
I had backward old plan on a 3G service from Chatr grandfathered in from Mobilicity that was still working in the US that I traded down for this garbage (although it was not supposed to work it did).
When people say the Freedom customer service is a night mare they are not exaggerating. You cannot dial 611. The biggest scream is that the 800 number for Freedom doesn't work from outside Canada. If you can't dial 611 there is no way to get to customer service.
Totally delinquent cell service provider. My Mom tried to port her number and it took 10 months, till they got it right! When I got through to technical support he told me I could call back and hung up before hearing my problem. Seemed to work in Canada but only shares one band with AT&T in the US, and 2 with T-Mobile. Alongside my T-Mobile service showing LTE, freedom shows T-Mobile EDGE -that's 2G service in the same spot. GET A US SERVICE FOR THE US and forget about roaming!
