Their customer service is terrible, they seem to enjoy making customers unhappy. I sent an email asking them to delay shipment because I was moving and wanted the trees sent to my new place and did not yet have a street address. They responded that it would not be a problem. I was going to send them an email again two days before the trees were supposed to ship (had I not asked for a delay) to make sure they weren't going to ship them to my old house. Because we had a warmer spring, they shipped the trees even earlier than the April 1 they said on the site, completely ignoring what I had asked and they agreed to. I had to rent a u-haul to take the trees over to my sister's house and plant them in containers so they didn't die, now I have to transport them almost 1,000 miles to my new house and plant them a second time.

Most of the trees I got were nothing more than spindly sticks which did eventually branch out and form leaves. I do mean sticks, just a spindly vertical twig with no horizontal offshoots. One tree, a Moringa, which was supposed to be 7' tall, was barely over 6' AND arrived broken on the main stem two feet from the top. When I emailed them with pictures to request a replacement, they told me I had to wait 45 days to see if it grew. Any idiot could tell you that tree wasn't going to make it. And what did they send to replace that tree? A 7' tree like the one I should have had? No, a 4' tree. I guess in their minds 4=4=8 so I got more than I paid for. Well, in reality, two 4' trees do not equal a 7' tree.

I was charged an "oversize fee" for the "7' " tree for no apparent reason. It came in a box that was the exact same size as the other trees. Several of the smaller 2-4' trees came in one box... just all thrown in there.

They do have a good selection, and at the time were the only place with a Moringa tree, which was the one I really wanted. I wouldn't buy from Fast Growing Trees again unless they were the ONLY place to find a plant.

This company is a joke. I bought an orange tree and it died a few days after taking it out of the box. I reached out to company. They asked that I send them pictures, which I did. I never heard back. SO, as they so rudely did to me, I will never go back to them. Don't waste your money or time. Go to a nursery that actualy values their reputation as well as their product, and has the common decency to stand by it. I HIGHLY recommend visiting the BBB of Fort Mill, SC and leaving them a review as well. It's mild-boggling that they have an A+ rating.

We purchased 150 Leyland cypress trees from Fast Growing Trees.com in March. They arrived in early April, all in excellent shape. All were planted during the first week of April and all have thrived and most have grown several inches since planting. The company representatives were very helpful in suggesting planting options and care of the trees. We couldn't be more pleased with the product and service. Bdn La Grange, Texas

They don't answer emails and do not post review that are below 5 stars. I have ordered twice from them. I should have waited to receive the first tree before I ordered another 2. Will not order from them again!

I have 4 fig plants in my yard. They die in hard winter and regenerate in the spring. My intention was to have a plant that was a little hardier to the new trend of cold in Northern Virginia. So I am not a novice in growing fog trees.
I bought a two gallon Chicago Hardy Fig tree from the company. The plant came on time. The plant stem was broken during growth and a side branch was shot out from just below where the stem was broken. About 10-20 percent of planting medium was out of the container in the plastic bag that the pot was in. The plant was grown attached to the side of the container. The planting medium was a coarse mix that had no cohesiveness. When I took the tree(!) out of the pot for planting, half of the medium fell out of the root web. Also one of the leaves showed clear sign of brown fungus. For the price that I paid, $39.95 + delivery and insurance a total over $62, I expected a sturdier and at least 2 year old plant.
I brought the problem to the attention of the company, but they responded that the plant was delivered! Is there a way to give a negative star?

Happy with company
April 26, 2017

I've order twice from this company. Once last year, the hybrid willow, and then once this year, the Red Rocket Myrtle. The willow came healthy and with leaves, and made it through the winter great. There was a mistake with the Myrtle, where they sent me the wrong tree, but when I called customer service they quickly corrected the problem, and resent me out the right one and let me keep the other tree. They also sent me another bag of fertilizer for free, which I used when I had planted the other tree thinking it was the right one. Anyway, I couldn't be happier with their customer service and their products. Everything I got from them is healthy, and when they make mistakes they make good to correct it. Also, their shipping was relatively fast. No complaints from me, and I definitely would consider buying from them again. This is one of the more reputable online nurseries online.

Big scam!
April 4, 2017

Don't fall for the website or colorful pictures. They are going to send you few millimeter diameter plants. Too expensive, you get good quality in Home Depot. I don't know why nobody files a law suit against them so far. We spend five hundred dollars for nothing. They say on their website that they are not sending bare root plants. But they just put some soil around bare root and ship to you. Worst shipping. Every branch is broken. It is our mistake first of all to pay 80 dollars for an apple tree and 15 dollars for one strawberry plant and 50 dollars for clementine. I am not sure they do grafting at all. Some trees I don't find the grafting area. I am sure they are not going to produce for another couple of years.

I got screwed over BIG by this company. $150 worth, which is a lot to me- I really expected to receive a quality tree for the money spent. Well, my 6' Moringa tree that I received was basically a bare root twig. All branches knocked off on shipping, it was in the box for a week (could have been shipped faster, cheap company) and when I went to talk to customer service, I was given such a cold response to everything. I am out $150 for a dead tree that now cannot be replaced and FGT did not allow my review to be posted. It was an honest review, nothing mean or rude.

This company will rip you off, and then when you go to complain or request a new tree, you will be treated like CRAP! You've been warned.

While the quality of the plants I got from this site are (barely) passable, the quality of their customer service is truly terrible. It's all automated, and the owners and employees of this site are trying way too hard to avoid contact with their actual customers.
This is exactly what makes me hate a company.

Ordered Crepe Myrtle trees. They never arrived but I was charged. I forgot about the order and when I went back to check later (thinking they shipped in spring) they said they were delivered.

Dont - just don't bother
February 21, 2017

Ordered 3 italian cypress trees under $20 each, 3 evergreen shrubs, and 2 winterberry holly. They arrived fine. I think the italian cypress are doing okay, the small shrubs are too small for its price! I could get them for the same size for twice the size and bigger. The winterberry holly - arrived as sticks! No leaves. Nothing. 2 months in - so far nothiing is happening to it. I think it might be a goner. Just don't bother. My first and last time ordering a tree online. Not even bothering w them since its just a waste of my time. Not even worth it. Just took it as a lesson learned.

I ordered 2 sets of 10 trees. Turns out I was shipped one set of 10 trees with 2 trees (20%) broken ( not shipping damage) and one brown dying. The other one tree should have been 10 for $149.00 and I got 1 for 149.00, larger of course.

Customer service stunk with no intent to help just kept telling me what they could not do, rather than here let's fix the problem. Shop elsewhere. Poor material and service.

I ordered a 4-5 foot loquat tree, it came with beautiful green leaves, although there were some evidence of spider mites, like little black round things, but I wiped them off and sprayed neem oil on the leaves and haven't had any issues, otherwise the plant looks healthy. I also ordered 2 varieties of figs: an LSU purple fig, and a Celeste fig. There were no leaves on either of them, and they were sticks basically. The LSU purple had leaves in the pot so they must have all fallen off in shipping but it's okay because it had a green bud on the tip of the stick showing it would have new growth. For the Celeste fit, the tip of the stick was like a brownish pink/magenta colored bud so I'm not sure if this one will have new growth because the bud isn't green like the other one.

Don't waste your money!
November 5, 2016

I ordered over 200 dollars worth of plants and trees and nothing survived. Trees were nothing but a dead stick stuck into loose dirt. Go to lowes, they offer 1 yr guarantee. This place you have to pay for guarantee, and then they just send you more dead plants and trees. Shameful. Should be put out of business! I have already saved 8 people from this co., tell your friends, they're a rip off!

Three years later
October 20, 2016

Well it has been a year since I received my $125 Newport Flowering Plum "stick". Needless to say it is still a stick although surprisingly it did flower this spring and does have some leaves on it but it did not grow one inch last year. So much for their claim of "fast growing". I am going to give it another year and if it doesn't grow this year then out it comes next year and I will purchase a tree locally. I wanted this tree because of the purple leaves and pink flowers but little or no fruit. I guess you can't have everything. I tried to upload a photo of this pathetic little stick but this site won't let me so you will have to use your imagination at to what my stick looks like. Unfortunately Fast Growing Trees only allow good reviews on their website.

Year 2: Ok this tree did flower and actually put on one little plum, which is fine as I didn't want a tree that put on a lot of fruit. The tree has maybe grown about 6 or 8 inches and is now starting to put out other branches on the lower part of the trunk which I hope over time will balance it out. I am going to give it another year and see what it does next year but it is still a stick that has a trunk that is about 1 or 2 inches in diameter and lopsided. We were really hoping it would straighten out but I really don't think that is going to happen anytime soon. I did find this tree locally for a third of the price that actually looks like a tree and not a stick and am contemplating putting one of those in next year on the other side of the yard. Then if this one doesn't make it I will still have one. I was able to upload a photo of the tree as it looks now but the photo is sideways and I can't turn it so sorry about that.

Year 3: Well I gave the "stick" a third year with no growth. Before I ordered the tree from Fast Growing Trees I did check locally to see if anyone had one and no one did. This year I went shopping locally again and found a Newport Flowering Plum that was about 10 ft tall and looked like a tree so I purchased it. Interestingly enough I didn't pay that much more for it than I paid for the "stick" from Fast Growing Trees. I paid to have the landscape company come out and plant it which gave me a 2 year guarantee. When the guy came out he asked if we wanted to try to salvage the "twig" he was replacing and put it somewhere else. I told him no as we had already given it 3 years and it hadn't done anything so he took the pathetic little thing away. Lesson learned, there are just some things that are better purchased locally.

Fraudulent business
September 23, 2016

We ordered what was claimed to be a nice-sized North Star Cherry tree in a "Drop'N'Gro" bag with dirt surrounding the roots. Instead we received a bare root plant with a few 2 to 3 inch long thread-sized roots and a few short thin vertical growths from the root structure, a couple of which were already dead and the others of which were partially dead and had only a few tiny leaves, which, despite watering religiously all summer, all shriveled up and died along with the branches. The warranty, which we paid for (unlike free on other quality sites), is only good for a store credit.
