Ideal to buy handicrafts such as necklaces, earrings, bracelets handmade direct communication with the artisans, reasonable prices, distributed to several countries.
I bought and the quality of materials is good, I will continue buying from etsy.
I ordered a DVD on the 12 of April, 2020 which was paid for by VISA. The item was not shipped until 19 April, 2020. I received a shipping update that informed that my order would be received between 12 May, 2020 and 6 June, 2020. Give me a break, right! Normal book rated takes only 8 days at the most. They charged an automatic $4.98. The date today is 13 May, 2020 and no DVD. This is my first purchase as I am very conservative until I find out about a company's integrity. This will be the only purchase I will make from Etsy. We can't blame slow service on the USPS as it is in full operation.
My daughter bought something from this site and she was waiting for more than a month shipping is really bad and if you try to call them they said sorry nothing we can do you have the wait for your shipping
Very one-sided website. It's all about the "all mighty dollar!" We had to get our credit card company involved to resolve the transaction. Some of the items can't be returned after, the Buyer receives the item and finds out that the item isn't as described. This is called "consumer fraud!" I hope the Attorney General shuts them down!
I have very bad experience with Etsy.
After a few months with good sell on my store.
They closed my account without any notice.
All my deposit money been refunded, (delivered orders).
No customer complain about it.
Just Etsy rubbish support.
Etsy support is garbage. None the less. I've been shopping on Etsy for 7 years now, I buy something nearly every week, still, and have never once experienced a pleasant experience with Etsy support. The sellers for the most part are and tend to be amazing with exceptions of course, but the Etsy support team seems like a bunch of inadequate and incompetent cold hearted idiots. Nicely put. They will not help you, help understand the issue nor will go out of their way to resolve much. Take a week to reply to comments etc. I've never seen or have experienced more non-caring people in my life.
Etsy is a visually appealing marketplace with a wide variety of products. I have had pleasant interactions with a variety of sellers (my personal experience is limited to fashion-oriented purchases) who were more than happy to answer my questions. The layout is efficient and the shipping time has been reasonable thus far, although Canada post has recently experienced delays that are out of sellers' control.
Artists deserve to charge enough to make a living off of their work but a good chunk of Etsy creations and *cough* resales are overpriced. However, the product quality has been consistent in my purchases and I would advise all buyers to check for sizing and reviews before buying.
In a word, dire. Of late they've resorted to allowing the sale of mass produced goods. It's lost its way and is a shadow of itself several years ago. Constant changes to the interface and procedures leave sellers and buyers alike confused and frustrated. We're closing our very successful store after the latest announcement and will not be returning. The current CEO wishes to take the site down what the vast majority of sellers (those who haven't been institutionalized) believe to be a very stony road. Hand made? Don't sell here, you're a bit late for boom time.
So we have been selling on Etsy for about a year and half. They have almost No customer service at all and when you do actually get a representative in live chat they are worthless! The store rating system is complete garbage. You can have 13 5 star reviews and just 1,1 star review brings your shop down to a 3 star rating! Whats worse is even if the buyer has Zero platform history and no purchase history the platform refuses to remove an obvious scam review from a competitor!
The platform is ok and the website is nice but again any problems or issues do not expect any help from Etsy! They are by far the worst platform we have used. We sell on Shopify, Ebay, Walmart and Amazon, all with much better service for sellers!
Awful customer service and products from CY studio designs.
My complaint: I recently purchased a necklace for my daughter and the heart charm was tinted gold and the lettering was rusty. I am not satisfied with the product at all.
CY Design Studios response: That's a stainless steel charm - think kitchen sink, there is no reason for it to turn. Perhaps it was exposed to humidity or something during shipping? Can you try polishing / buffing with a cloth? It should be bright silver.
Love Etsy! If I need something personalized for any occasion, I can come here! Prices vary depending on the seller but it's generally good! Highly recommend this web site. If you run your own business (not direct sales), then you need to Register with Etsy!
I bought a jacket and couple of linen tops from this seller, Linenfox. All were exactly as described and precisely the size in the listing. They also sent color samples with my orders, so it was easy to select color for the next order. Well made and the seller addressed all concerns immediately. Could not be happier.
I've been an etsy seller for over a decade with thousands of sales and 5 star reviews. Bout a month ago they put a hold on my account 'because I've had more sales than normal' They are holding 75% of my revenue off of sales that have shipped and have been delivered. This is ridiculous and I can't believe it's legal. There is no reliable way to get ahold of anyone at etsy to resolve the problem and my emails to 'seller support' have not been answered.
PLEASE do not shop on etsy. Most artists have started their own websites since etsy has gotten so shady. See something you like and do a google search for the direct website. The artist will LOVE you and you'll likely have a better shopping experience.
This is a great site to find just about anything and also very unique, handmade gifts. Even furniture. I like the rustic look, trunk tables, etc. And there are several "shop owners" that make anything you want. Sometimes the shipping is more than the product when it comes to furniture, but not always.
I've made multiple purchases from Etsy and every single transaction has been great experience! The selection they offer is so varied I could spend hours looking through all the wonderful items. Every purchase felt secure and all items were received in a timely manner. What a great place to showcase small business goods!
I heard about etsy & gave it a try. The company I purchased from is Cute Tees; they are awesome. The service is Fantastic, the feedback was the best I've ever had from an online company & even better than a lot of stores I've frequented.
I bought the most adorable birthday tees ( child's name & age on the tee) for my niece & nephew, they loved them. Fantastic product, kids love things with their names on them.
Cute tees you definitely have a satisfied customer who will return many times.
Thanks for making this shopping so easy.
I have purchased numerous items from great sellers on etsy. They now seem to allow sellers who do not stand by their products, and because these sellers say no refunds, these sellers will sell defective items. Etsy will respond with a "Oh Well" attitude, that's your problem not ours. I purchased a pair of cuff earrings from a shop called Shut Up and Cuff Me. The cuffs were wired so tight they could not be adjusted and no matter how hard I tried they would not go on my ear, cost $50, Seller stated no refund unless defective, basically seller called me a liar and would not even take the earrings back, even though it stated she would remake if she had to. Etsy responded with their "Oh Well" attitude. Unprofessional business practice, in other words "Greed".
I was a seller on Etsy. They don't take into consideration that customers lie. I sold items to a personal friend of mine. Me and this individual made an agreement. So without my knowledge she complained about not getting the product and she already received it. I received an email after the fact that they refunded the money back to her and she also got my products for free. I hand make everything so that was really disappointing and also aggravating. I'm highly upset. Your sellers are the reason your still in business. Where is the loyalty to your sellers? Despite what you've heard the customer is not always right/ I'll be taking my products to another company where they listen and understand.
I ordered 2 signs for teacher appreciation week. Huge lack of communication with the product. I purchased it. Received it in an email still had to take it to a print shop and pay additional $28. Not happy at all.
Bought a lamp off here from
China/Japan depending on which message I get. Paid for express shipping, then told i needed to send tax number? Utter rubbish, then told it won't arrive when I wanted it but would turn up three days late! Now it's five days late. They had two
Weeks to deliver. Never buying off this site again
Answer: Check the reviews, and Google the seller. Also, are the reviews written in good english? Does it seem fake? Check pictures from the buyers.
Answer: I would have to say no, with LOTS of exceptions. In the past few years Etsy has allowed business to claim handmade if it meets certain criteria. I often see many items that claim to be handmade but I have seen them on Alibaba being sold in bulk. That being said I look very closely and have purchased some wonderfu items from great sellers. The biggest problem with Etsy is that they no longer protect customers from fraud (they say they are not liable) but in doing that lots and lots or resellers and counterfeit items have saturated Etsy' s marketplace. I would never buy anything "vintage" there. What I have seen you are getting thrift store rejects or modern fake. Buyer beware! Investigate all vendors carefully!
Answer: I am agree with Ramina. 90% is not hand made. All comes from Factories. When someone has over 8000's item don't you ask who made it. They are all over from Pakistan to turkey east to west up united state. Etsy is happy just to take your money and every 4 or 5 months closing one store to show off and if you have some money as a credit they take it too. No customer service, no respect no manor, they made policy just for FUN and they have FUN with our pocket. Stay far from them FAR FAR.
Answer: I agree with Steve J on this one. A lot of sellers on Etsy work from home in the evenings for extra money. Most of them are not big businesses with massive inventories so I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Give them a little more time and if they dont send it out then file a case with etsy
Answer: Business checking isn't necessary (the banks now charge a monthly fee for a small business checking). You can pretty much set up a regular checking account
Answer: I believe this depends on each seller. Etsy is simply a platform for sellers, and often does not have any direct involvement with orders short of processing the payment. Certain items cannot be returned for safety and hygiene reasons, and sellers can refuse to do anything other than exchange. Contacting Etsy may or may not change the results.
Answer: If you do, I would be cautious about ordering from international sellers, use a credit card in case you need to contest the charges, and do NOT expect ETSY do a thing if you get ripped off. They are useless and could care less once the sale is final.
Answer: I have bought a number of items through Etsy and with great success. I had only one negative experience and Etsy took are of that. I recommend Etsy wholeheartedly.
Answer: The best and quickest thing to do is to email the seller and let them know that you would like to return for a refund.
