Over 1h wait on the phone to speak with a representative to move my funds out of this account.
The site is broken and doesn't allow me to add an external account. The representative closed my account before I moved my funds out. What in the actual F#$%?
Now calling back I have a 90 minutes wait time?!?

I attempted to open an account at E*Trade. I paid my debt to society. Yet they would not open an account for me. Not looking for credit just a trading platform.
When I asked for an explanation no response to my inquiry..
I arranged a transfer of assets from my ESPP holdings to a charity on November 15th, 2023. In December 2023, I contact customer service TWICE to ask if this transfer was going to make it within the end of the year. I was assured that it would. In January 2024, the transfer still had not completed, and I contacted customer service again to ask what the status was and they again assured me that this transfer would be completed and would indeed be backdated. Now, Feb 2024, I had to contact customer service once again to ask why this has not yet completed and they admitted that they dropped the ball on this and could not back date it since it was too late.
Absolutely ridiculous service. Absolutely ridiculous. Even after half a dozen phone calls to customer service who promised and assured me this would be completed in a timely manner, it did not. This is no way to operate a brokerage let alone a financial institution.
Everytime I call I'm on hold for 30 mins and never get a response. I tried to make a trade and it was blocked. It prompted me to call customer service. I tried to make the trade with the automated service and it was blocked. Waited on the line for a live person and never got a response.
Acct was funded but they put a hold on telling me to call. 30 min call wait time to be told to upload a bank statement. Did that and called back (another 30 minute hold) to be told I needed multiple other documents. Both customer service people were indifferent and couldn't answer any questions. I asked if all this was needed why was it not asked for at the start? I've been trying to make a trade for 2 weeks now and I'm still not there. Going to withdraw my funds and trade elsewhere. For such a name brand company their customer service is abysmal.

I have been trying to close out my account for more than 8 months. They are keeping my money. They are thief's DO NOT trade with them. Phone hold times are 90 minutes. Very diffult to navigate, and trading in shares is a nightmare! I lost more cashing out some stocks than I had earned! There is no place that gives you in English how to cash out! Had to call support to get me started and that was less than a good experience!

Almost losing all I had to trading really took severe effects on my mental health, I couldn't believe it truly happened, I was in denial for a couple of months. After finally accepting I had been scammed, I was able to talk to people about it and not be ashamed. Horrible process with getting verified to open an account. I have many accounts with different financial institutions and etrade was and is the worst. Uploaded documents to prove I have linked etrade with my other bank accounts and it still wasn't good enough. Too many banks with decent interest rates to use than with etrade. Thank God I only transferred one dollar into etrade to open the account but I will never see that dollar again
I am forced to use etrade due to corporate stock purchase. To transfer my money out, I had to confirm two deposits. Then I had to send a copy of my bank statement. Then I had to send jpegs of the deposits. And every time I call, I have to wait 20 minutes on hold before they can transfer me to someone who can actually address the issue. I would never let these people handle my money again.
Customer service is barely reachable (chat was disabled post MS take over), 400 minutes on hold to reach an agent is not uncommon. Further during the recent AVM/AVGO conversion, eTrade caused issues with some employees conversions (stock was elected - cash was paid out instead) and further classified the conversion as dividend resulting in 30% withholding tax for non US Tax residents - other brokers dealing with the conversion informed their customers and had the conversion classified differently not resulting in withholding tax levied. ETrade has yet to address or fix the problem.
In short: stay away if you can
F- ZERO ZIP ZILCH NADA! Avoid like the dang plague. Maybe if you have close to a million $$ you will get good service but nothing short of that apparently matters.
Can't reach humans online or off. Can't even send emails anymore through the customer section in your account. These people HATE their customers with an indifference and level of snobbery that is disgusting, classist, and stinks of wall-street elite attitudes.
We would give it a zero if possible. F- Morgan Stanley & Etrade are the WORST.
I disputed 3 unauthorized transactions on my debit card. 15 days later, I am told the matter is still being investigated. I asked to speak with a manager or supervisor 7 days ago. I am still waiting to talk with someone and I am still waiting for my money to be returned to my account. The person that I spoke with today, told me, "don't worry about it..." I guess he is right, I mean, its just my money that was stolen from my account. I shouldn't worry about it. That is what I call poor customer service!
I have been an E-Trader four years. Settled funds & transfers take 3 "business" days, a request for options trading normally takes 1-2 business days to approve, (Fidelity and Schwab - same day), E-Trade just told me 2-4 WEEKS! The folks are polite but the organization is user UN-friendly.

Time and again my account gets deactivated. I need to reactivate by calling customer services. I called them and waited for 50 minutes to get it activated. It got deactivated again in 2 days.
This time I waited for 40 minutes in 1800ETRADE. After verification and asking all the questions, he forwarded me to another team, for another wait time of 50 minutes.
The service is really painful and bad. Would never recommend even my enemy.

E*Trade has a "Reorganization fee". That is a fee that they charge you for an organization split/merger, etc.: the events that you cannot predict and that are not initiated by you. Interestingly, this a fixed amount fee, so you are being charged $38 even if you have a single stock that costs less that that. If you have millions of stocks, you won't notice, but... I guess the majority of individual investors have less than that invested, so that is noticable.
Being a Morgan Stanley employee, I had to transfer my securities to E*Trade. No option. I was charged $38 for several times.
From my prior experience, I never was charged such a fee by my previous brocker, so I'm disappointed by E*Trade. Not even money worth, I feel disrespect from the brocker to individual investors.
