Great platform for trading. Very straightforward and not at all scammy like a lot of trading sites can be. Test test test
It went from the best online platform to trade to the WORSE since it got bought by Morgan Stanley! If you need to talk with someone FORGET about it. You get placed in a waiting line for 30 to 50 minutes. You end up hanging up, tired of waiting.

Don't understand English. They change the subject. The chat rooms have $#*! holes. Their tax department is filled with high school drop out dope smoking idiots incapable of doing their jobs.
Since being puchased by Stsnlry Morgan service is poor. They have locked all my accounts for over a week. The group doesn't work on weekends. Have had multiple conversations and been told the lock would be release at mid day. Now occurring late fee, due to unable to pay bills and auto pay being rejected.
I have been an E-Trader four years. Settled funds & transfers take 3 "business" days, a request for options trading normally takes 1-2 business days to approve, (Fidelity and Schwab - same day), E-Trade just told me 2-4 WEEKS! The folks are polite but the organization is user UN-friendly.
E*TRADE is scam!
I strongly recommend support (at) fast-recovery(.)io to Anyone who has been a victim of financial fraud. Your team were able to recover the stolen money for me, which I honestly thought was lost forever. The process was handled professionally and I was kept informed every step of the way. I am extremely grateful for their services and would not hesitate to use them again should the need arise.
For stock plan account: no transparency, no document about fees, no statement after charging. I was tricked into paying 75$ for nothing, and they sold my stocks without permission. The transaction is a disaster. I wasted at least 5 hours on bull$#*!. The representatives on the phone knew nothing about what they were talking about and constantly gave me completely fake or wrong information! In the end, they made me pay for their fault and I had to worry for almost a month and do 4 times transfers to finally get a simple task done. There is also no documentation, and no transfer record for what they charge. I wish to have nothing to do with this company again!
Tip for consumers:
avoid this crap

Took $2200 from me when they executed an auto liquidation on an option call when in the money at 4:45 on Fridays expiration and before it had a chance to exercise. Never gave me the chance to cover or sell on Monday. Instead sold it at market price loosing me an estimated $2200. I filed an SEC complaint. To be continued.

Avoid ETrade
Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had with a brokerage. After weeks of incompetence, hours of calls they still end up transferring out thousands of dollars in shares they were not authorized to. Unbelievable the level of incompetence for a company managing so much money, scary.
I arranged a transfer of assets from my ESPP holdings to a charity on November 15th, 2023. In December 2023, I contact customer service TWICE to ask if this transfer was going to make it within the end of the year. I was assured that it would. In January 2024, the transfer still had not completed, and I contacted customer service again to ask what the status was and they again assured me that this transfer would be completed and would indeed be backdated. Now, Feb 2024, I had to contact customer service once again to ask why this has not yet completed and they admitted that they dropped the ball on this and could not back date it since it was too late.
Absolutely ridiculous service. Absolutely ridiculous. Even after half a dozen phone calls to customer service who promised and assured me this would be completed in a timely manner, it did not. This is no way to operate a brokerage let alone a financial institution.

We have been using this bank for more than 10 years and have overall good opinion on it. This was our first bank that did not require personal contact to open an account and had pretty comprehensive online capabilities. However, recently we had to do transfers for a few accounts and found out that every single step has to be supported by us calling customer service. You submitted all docs and they rejected the request, call to find out why. Oh, you had to submit a copy of DL. Uploaded? Call again and they will verify it over the phone, but please call in two days to make sure everything was ok. Rejected again?, Call to find out why. Because the statement is old. Uploaded? Call again. DL was scanned, but it is supposed to be a cellphone image, not scanned image. Uploaded? Call again. We just did and were told everything looks good, but again, call in two days to give them time to review and make sure everything is good. Come on, people, it is 21st century out there, keep automating your processes and don't get stuck in old technologies! In addition, some accounts do not have option to contact customer service by secure email, but some do.
I have been unable to see my account with E*trade for weeks. When I talk to them they ask me security questions that I don't recognize. When I try answering the question they say it's a wrong answer and I have to wait 48 hours before I can try again, my money is locked in there and I can't touch it.
I've been with E*Trade before they were ever "cool". I started trading with them in late 1995, and each time I consider leaving, I find reasons to stay. They seem to appreciate my loyalty, and the managers of the few branches I've visited (yes, E*Trade has a few physical branches), they are very welcoming and highly respectful of my loyalty. Yeah the trading fees are of the most expensive on the Internet, but they are now giving us more incentives to stay, and attempting to correct their prices to more competitive levels.
Acct was funded but they put a hold on telling me to call. 30 min call wait time to be told to upload a bank statement. Did that and called back (another 30 minute hold) to be told I needed multiple other documents. Both customer service people were indifferent and couldn't answer any questions. I asked if all this was needed why was it not asked for at the start? I've been trying to make a trade for 2 weeks now and I'm still not there. Going to withdraw my funds and trade elsewhere. For such a name brand company their customer service is abysmal.
Tip for consumers:
Strongly advise anyone to stay away from Etrade. Use a brokerage that cares just a little bit about you. Communication and customer service is sub par.
The worst experience ever. If I could rate them zero stars I would. Do waste your good mood by opening an account!
E Trades customer service was outstanding before Morgan Stanley merger went through. Now my card gets locked every other weekend. I have literally had to get a new debit card 5 times since this merger happened. I maintain a balance of 10k or more in my account at all times and rarely have access to my money on weekends. Switching brokerage accounts asap.
Tip for consumers:
I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

E-Trade is the perfect online trading site. Very easy to use. It even has information with which one might educate oneself on the intricacies of trading. And a phone call brings you live, friendly help. E-TRADE makes trading fun!
0 Notifications, 0 Phone Calls, noticed a pop up on app to call bank at *******331 to resolve issue. Well you will get 0 help, after numerous phone calls to resolve. They said all they can do is "send an email". I asked if I can get a phone number for the department. They said they don't have one because they don't deal with customers, but not worry "they don't take that long, only a couple of days". RIDICULOUS reply. Then I asked would be it faster to resolve by visiting a branch? Their reply "You could try… but I doubt they would be able to help you". I have 0 access to use my available Checking funds. Which means delays in my bills. STAY FAR FAR AWAY from opening a bank account here. There representatives are fine it's not them, no one has ever been rude to me. It's the banks procedures, it's not their fault they aren't given the tools to be actually helpful. It's like a Call Center… passing on messages. The people who actually handle everything will never speak with you and takes day(s)/or week(s) to resolve. Their complete structure is GARBAGE.

Been calling *******653, spoken to Christopher, Zachary, Jocelyn and still going in circles. I thought my husband losing his dad in Nov.2022 was bad... it was nothing compared to dealing with E-TRADE customer service. We've been going in circles just trying to claim the beneficiary amount. We've been at it for 2 months to no avail. Asked to speak to case manger D. Torres. Told her microphone was not working so she was not taking any calls. Asked for business email. Told it could not be given out. Out for Corporate office numbers, told by Jocelyn she did not know it. What is going on? My husband is sick and tired of dealing with E*Trade. Is there anyone out there that can help?
I have 4 brokerage accounts i bought hymc for a single dollar in this acount as i knew morgan stanley is a corrupt broker. Hymc went through a reverse split etrade now wants me to pay 75$ to them im not short on the company they just want to charge me 75x my initial investment thinking im stupid. Fidelity moomoo and webull gave me the difference in cash as i did not have enough shares to convert a 1 for 100 split lol etrade intstead thinks its ethical to charge this 75x my account value lol sickening not only will i not accept that i will not pay that and im done with etrade i would strongly recomend staying away from here at all cost if you are a retail investor. Nfa god bless all goid everywhere*
Tip for consumers:
Its horrible what they think they can do to people and if i was accepting they would happily extort that money from me.. they know their wrong they wont wipe the account but they wont pursue either because it is unlawful and unethical they just want your money and u wiped out of the markets.. good thing i do business with other brokerages though. I encourage you to as well nfa.

The quick recovery of my money was made possible by t.O.N.E L.td's prompt intervention.
Customer service is barely reachable (chat was disabled post MS take over), 400 minutes on hold to reach an agent is not uncommon. Further during the recent AVM/AVGO conversion, eTrade caused issues with some employees conversions (stock was elected - cash was paid out instead) and further classified the conversion as dividend resulting in 30% withholding tax for non US Tax residents - other brokers dealing with the conversion informed their customers and had the conversion classified differently not resulting in withholding tax levied. ETrade has yet to address or fix the problem.
In short: stay away if you can

Have been very happy with E*Trade for years. Since Morgan Stanley took over, customer service seems to have evaporated. Going back 2 weeks I've only received 3 of 12 dividend payments across all my accounts. Never had a missed payment in the past. Live chat tells me 1 to 10 days for payment to appear. When asked if I should expect this going forward, the reply I got was "Correct". Moving everything to Fidelity.
Customer services is not well trained, they don't have proper answers to my questions all the time.
Not a good experience with E*Trade
I need to recover my investments for emergency medical reasons and cannot get in touch via phone, emails, or chat to see what I need to do. After Morgan Stanley took over ETrade the phrase "customer service' has disappeared 100%! It seems like they intend to steal all my funds I invested with ETrade!
Tip for consumers:
Since Morgan Stanley took over managing ETrade account there is literally NO CUSTOMER SERVICE or way to contact anyone!!!!
