All my teachers have been very knowledgable, helpful, and friendly. I love that I am in class with people from all over the world. Not only can I study and talk with them but thanks to video also see them. It's been a wonderful experience and I now can speak Hebrew!
I have wanted to learn Hebrew for years. I decided this last fall to look into courses and came across Ulpan, eTeacher. It is one of the best methods I have come across. Hebrew is now my fourth language. You will learn by seeing, hearing, doing and speaking. The live class is just the beginning of your learning experience. There is a wonderful text, both on line and a physical book. The student on-line materials also includes an Acrobat Reader presentations that the instructor uses in each class. You can even listen to the class again as each live class is recorded. If you choose to do the homework you will get a one-on-one response. Learning a language from a Native speaker allows you to learn "proper" language and become aware of the "street slang" as well. Fantastic course. I am looking forward to the next one.
We bought a course from these guys that we couldn't do because my partner got pregnant. We later asked to access the course, but we're told we need to buy the second level in order to access it. We would warn everyone and anyone trying to buy their services they are not to be trusted.
I joined Eteacher/Rosen School of Hebrew with high hopes. Was told they had 24 hour customer service and recorded lessons in case you miss a weekly lesson. I missed a lesson and soon found out that is not the case. I use a Mac and the customer service rep said she was unable to help with mac. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told no.
Someone called and sent lessons via email and told me this would not happen again... guess what it did.
I again could not download lesson, rep was unable to help, asked to speak with a supervisor and again told no. I have spend 1000's of dollars and they only care about the money. Shame as i had high hopes. I would not recommend anyone pay this company.
They will respond saying this is not acceptable we will call you to fix it. All talk!
The teacher is really nice, friendly, patient, professional and explains everything. The course material is well established and explained by the book as well as the teacher really well making the studying process easier. It is quiet expensive, but definitely worth if if you're determined to study the language.
I´m just starting to study and I find I´m already learning. The course material is good, the class is always on time and the support to help when there has been problems to conect on line has been always quick and effective.
Since I enrolled as a student with eTeacherHebrew, I learned Hebrew much faster and had so much fun in the process. ETeacher Hebrew gave a lot of structure and direction to my studies. I really look forward to the lesson every week, and it is so easy to do from the comfort of my own home. In addition, being able to download the recorded lesson every week, enables me to review the material and even study on my own if I miss a lesson for some reason. It is a wonderful way to learn!
They will follow you with offers ( some of that offers fake) and they will be decent till they get your credit card details, after that no reply, they take money from your bank account without your permission, they will say they will call you and they will never do that, they will ignore any messages from you to help, they do not respect their policy, no notifications if they cancel classes, and never give you money if they take it, they will send you Email to threaten you to give them money of classes that you do not take
Escape and block them
I came very late to the study of Hebrew and my tongue often fails to pronounce words correctly. My teacher (Hagit Mans) is endlessly patient and always encouraging. She clearly loves the language and points out many interesting aspects of it. I enjoy the lessons very, very much.
I was so excited when I signed up to this course, it's something that I wanted to do for a very long time. Having the time and the fact that I could do this from home, I was quick to join and couldn't wait to grab a Hebrew bible and start reading on my own. The learning material was great, but what really made this an unforgettable experience was my teacher. She was so passionate about biblical Hebrew that I felt at home in her class. I asked so many questions and wanted to go over so many stories that I couldn't believe she still had the patience for me but she did, even after class in the forums when I needed help with the assignments.
I registered for a course using my brother's card, since he agreed to pay for the first month. When I explained over the phone that I couldn't continue to pay for the course because I don't have a job, I was told that I couldn't cancel. The woman said she was the head of the finance department and threatened me with legal action if I didn't pay. They need to be shut down!
Listen - You are thinking about taking biblical or modern Hebrew... these guys are almost a scam. They offer classes and they are going to reach out to you over and over again when they sense they have a fish on the line. However as soon as you have a problem, there will not be anybody at the phone. You will be dialing in the middle of Beersheba in a well somewhere because no-one will ever answer the line again. They steal money, they are fraudulent, they use switch and Bait tactics, they are dishonest, they will lie to the credit card company, they will falsify any documentation they can make up and I dare you to try and find them in Israel somewhere. You cannot be warned more. You may think you have gotten a decent deal because they will negotiate and negotiate to give you a "good deal", but this is buyer beware!
The class is well paced with a logical flow. My teacher Naama is very patient and yet challenges me to use the word and phrases I am learning. It is exciting to see the progress I am making in Hebrew speaking and comprehension.
Stay away from this "school".
1. Ask for their cancelation policy before you give them your payment information! I tried to cancel the class and they stopped answering your calls, but will answer when you call from a number not linked to their system. The representatives refuse to provide you anything in writing stating they will not continue to charge your account. And become verbally aggressive if you ask more questions.
2. The teacher did not focus on the students' understanding or learning the material, she just wanted to get the class overwith. As she said 'it is 4am in Israel'. As if the class scheduling was the students fault.
3. They don't honor your schedule. I selected a class on their calendar according to my schedule and they changed it on the day of class without proper notification.
Needless to say, the experience was negative in every aspect.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS ORGANIZATION THAT ONLY WANTS YOUR MONEY. THEY COULD CARE LESS IF YOU LEARN ANYTHING OR NOT.
The lessons and teacher are great, but the aggressive mannerisms and rudeness of the call centre people made me not want to sign up with them for any more lessons.
I will find someone else to take lessons through locally.
Which is a shame for them because I was going to sign up for two more classes.
When I told them not to contact me by phone but only email, they refused and called me anyways. When I told them to stop sending me emails asking me for payments 4 months in advances for classes, they also ignored me and continued to send payment requests. When I asked this individual to NOT CONTACT me any more, he continued anyways asking for payment requests. When they called me this morning, after I had asked them not to, and the agent continued to speak to me in an aggressive and rude manner, he told me before hanging up on me, "You probably shouldn't learn hebrew anyways."
I would do zero stars if I could. I paid $1600 in tuition over a period of 3 months waiting for a teacher to contact me about classes. I was never assigned a teacher, and after a few more weeks of calling I finally got ahold of them to request a refund. They denied my refund request, and after multiple calls they supposedly approved a $1200 refund and said it would arrive after 3 weeks. When it didn't arrive, I called back multiple times and they won't answer my calls.
Posting an update to my original review. After multiple lengthy conversations where eTeacher tried repeatedly to up-sell me to a variety of things I specifically said I didn't want, I told them I was filing a claim with my credit card company and would no longer accept their phone calls. I blocked them on my phone, turned off my credit card as they had told me they were still going to take the 2nd installment from my account, and filed a dispute. After all that drama, they sent me an email saying they would refund my money. I am happy I got the refund, but the amount of time and energy this took was absurd. This is a hard sell organization focused on enrollment and collection. I didn't take the class, but I suppose if they are as tenacious about helping you learn the language as they are on selling the course and keeping your money, you're in good hands.
I called to sign up for a class beginning in late March. That class was full, but there was one opening in a class starting three days from the phone call. I signed up, but reconsidered that evening and asked to cancel. Because the cancellation was less than three days before the class began, they wanted to rebate me only $200 on approximately $800 for the class. There is nothing on their website stating their refund policy, and you do not get a copy of the contract until after you have paid and registered. I was past the full rebate period before they ever disclosed the rebate period. I have been on the phone multiple times but missed a call from them three days ago and have not heard back. I am filing dispute resolution with my credit card company but am extremely angry about this situation. They need to post their policies on their website and not book that close to the class date without disclosing. I could not be more unhappy, as I have now paid the full price for the class and cannot get anyone to call me back.
I wanted to cancel my learning costing me £317/ month for 4 lessons.
Then I faced the team member that told me Eteacher will refund me £119.
1 hour after saying this to me the same member told me the refund is not makable and cancellation fees will be £399.
I said I dont want them to take any further money from my account and he said sorry but this needs to be done after the call ended, I checked my account and the money was gone already. Eteacher took 5 paiements of £20, £30 etc to reach £399. My bank is on its way! Im furious!
It's hard to find classes for level after beginner in my city, so I am very appreciative that Rosen school has this option. Online is very convenient time-wise.
I am studying both Ulpan (conversational Modern Hebrew) and Biblical Hebrew at the same time. I would suggest doing one at a time, the two are quite different from one another... I am doing OK, and I encourage others to learn Hebrew too, but I do suggest that to start with one for awhile before adding the other. It is the best hard work I have done, and, I admit to being a senior citizen! It is never too late to learn something new!
Answer: I have the same experience - they took from my visa account 824 Euro for 1,5 teaching hours - the whole amount for the whole semester even if I cancelled after 1,5 teaching lessons:-(
Answer: 3000 sheckels, one time payment, no option of getting one sheckel back if disappointed.

Shalom Marie,
First of all I would like to apologize on behalf of eTeacher Group for the unpleasant experience you had with our team of course advisers and customer care representatives.
As a Call-Center based operation, we are aware of the misunderstandings that can occur once one of our student requests to communicate solely via email correspondence.
Nevertheless I understand your frustration from the interaction you had with us and I can assure you that your issue is being checked thoroughly by us in order to avoid future misunderstandings.
As you could probably see from the many other positive reviews written in this website and in many others, it is highly irregular that such an unfortunate experience like the one you had arise, and therefore I would like to try and see if there's anything in our ability to do in order to correct the negative impression that was created. It is a shame that the overall positive impressions on your learning process with us, the teachers and the syllabus would be tainted, and even though it is difficult to correct first impressions, we in eTeacher would like to give it our best shot.
Please contact me personally at michael.jacobs@eteachergroup.com and I assure you that I will dedicate my undivided attention to your matter.
Sincerely,
Michael Jacobs
