Needed to cancel before classes started because I would have limited availability. This school has made every second of this process an absolute *nightmare.*

They called my phone about 5-8 times a day, leaving no message identifying who was calling. I have had to block the number.

They refuse to take multiple emails as cancellation confirmation, still harass me regularly and have essentially stolen money from me.

This has been the most regrettable education decision I have ever made, I would recommend literally anywhere else.

1. Their promotion/hard sell is at best dishonest and at worst unscrupulous!
2. They do not inform you that you will NOT get a refund if you change your mind or need to withdraw FOR ANY REASON.
3. In my opinion, Rosen representatives are unprincipled and ruthless.
4. Between Nov 27,2023 and Jan 11,2024 Rosen withdrew over $1000 CDN from my Visa. In that time period there were two 1 hour lessons, followed by a two week Christmas break. They refused to reimburse me even a portion of the fees they claimed when I had to withdraw.

Whatever is written on their website is a lie! Then when you speak to them, they give you completely different information, saying it must have been a mistake on the website.
Just one example: it says each level of Modern Hebrew course gives you 2 academic credits from the Hebrew University, for 98$ a month, 2 hr per week. None of it is true! First of all, it's only 1 hr per week, not 2. Secondly, most courses don't give you any credits and thirdly, if they "find" a class that suppose to give you these university credits, they want you to pay another $400.
When i told the sales person about all these lies, he said doesn't know what to say!
I'm going to contact the Hebrew University to make sure they will be no longer involved with this scam.

I didn't like the course and I asked to cancel it. Then they discounted $270 USD ($396 AUD) without advising me about that fee.

Now I call to receive an explanation and they don't answer the phone.

Terrible service, this is really a theft.

Not Happy at All
September 22, 2020

I signed up to take the basic Hebrew course. The instructor does not wear a headset with microphone so she is incredibly difficult to hear and understand. The course did not start with a basic review of the block Hebrew letters, jumping right into cursive. One of the students asked (correctly) why we don't learn the block letters first; there no coherent answer why. Stay away from these folks.

Please Do Not Enroll
This school is horrible I lost my March of this year and I contacted the school March 12 to inform them that I am unable to continue the course. They said they would have work with me but here it is June, I have not landed anything and told them cannot continue. Well I am being threatened that they will send me to collection. I don't recommend the school. Also they are going to charge me 835 cancellation fee. Go somewhere else because they are scammers.

100% satisfactory

I began to learn with Rosen School, formerly eTeacher Hebrew, some 5 years ago: ulpan level 6, level 7 and level 8 twice (because it's so great). Every year has been a great experience and I hope to follow with many more years. Fees seem to me very affordable considering time and levels they offer. Teachers are so good, nice and ready to help at any time you need. During those 5 years I never had any trouble with payment. Highly advisable.

I had an outstanding problem with my classes because of my work schedule problem. The customer care manager, Mr. Jeremy Lalush, resolved my issue and gave me the option to study at my convenient time. I recommend Eteacher Group to anyone who wants to study both Biblical or modern Hebrew. They are amazing and the tech support agents are there to help you at any time.

For a year I was quite satisfied with eteacher. Recent events have shown eteacher as money grabbers. They took money from my credit card for courses that did not start for 30-36 weeks and then wanted money for ongoing classes. It is like paying for groceries and the teller telling you when you pick up your groceries to go home. "Hey you need to pay for those. What you payed me for were for future groceries." A money grabbing scam if ever I saw one. The three purchases were unknown to me until I started to enquire why my balence was so low. I suggest people who have had simular experience as I have to complain to the Israeli Consumer Council and Hebrew University Jerusalem. Let us take action through Israeli grounded institutions that they will have a harder time to ignore.

Kind of comforted to see many got cheated by the theft-like school, as many have experienced, they really just focus on getting money from you. They sell you program without telling you time limit, and insane cancellation strategy (purposely), that is cheating. When I figured out several months later, they charged 741 euros on my credit card directly for cancellation. So I almost ended up paying over 2200 euros and not able to finish half of Hebrew A course. I fired a dispute through the bank, after long week of fighting with (extreme) terrible customer service, (that never it's reachable directly to the responsible people), eventually they refunded me partially, and reopened Hebrew A. But it was such a painful experience and a loss of much money, in total I spent 1874, 7 euros to be able to learn just Hebrew A course. Really insane experience.

Advice: don't be kind to their sales persons, those who are called academic advisors, they are robbers! Be really careful about your investment with this school.

With our local exchange rate courses are very expensive but the scholarship has made it possible for me to continue with studies. Also having the classes recorded means my study time is flexible and I can listen to something as many times as needed.

I have tried many Hebrew learning programs on my own, but my teacher and the materials really helped me learn better. I was able to strengthen my foundation and increase my confidence in speaking. I saw complaints about the aggressive sales tactics, but Israeli businesses style is very direct that way. There were some discounts and financing options which made it affordable. I really enjoyed the small class group with students from all over the wold!

I regret ever having come across this company and warn everyone to avoid them at all costs. They are basically a spam company and are not committed to teaching but rather to extracting money from people with unfair terms. You cannot cancel and receive a fair refund, even if you don't take the course. You cannot directly contact them--they can only contact you and treat you unprofessionally and bully you into paying them for services they have not rendered. WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM, EVER. STAY AWAY.

Thieves. They train people to steal your money by using agressive sales tactics. The teachers working for them are not qualified. Everything on their webiste is bulls**t. Took me ages to get my money back and I'm an Israeli.

Had the same bad experience many described above.

I believe this company should be forced by the law to explain verbally and make clear to future clients their cancellation fees and refund policy at the time of sale. (Specially when selling their classes to elderly people with poor computer background which are promissed, without a trial period, that it will be easy for them when it is NOT.)

I ended up paying 1,617 dls for two classes.
Their terms and conditions says that even before you start the first class, you have lost a significant percentage of your payment.

From my point of view, charging for a service you did not provide under fraudulent terms and conditions is not good at all. Terms that have that strong impact should be verbally made very clear (as their are if you purchase a flight in an airline online)

Just wish you karma take care of your business...

Dear Ana.

Thank you for your feedback, you help us know in which ways we can become better for our students world-wide. We have been searching for your name and data given here in the school system for the last 9 days, and couldn't trace any cancellation of studies under that name.
You are kindly invited to contact us and resolve this issue. Please have your student ID number ready to quicken the process.

As a rule, as a school, and as an academic institution, just like any university you know (and the Hebrew U is a partner, we must abide their standards), tuition fees are divided to registration fee, taken during enrollment, and rest of the tuition we break into payments.

Our school sends every student the materials, which we pay for, schedule orientation meeting with IT, which we pay for, and pay the teacher who is there on time to teach. These payments are covered by the registration fee, which is the first part of the tuition. If a student chooses not to show up for the class, we cannot avoid paying the teacher who was there on time ready to teach the rest of the group.

In regards to working with the computer, in addition to the IT orientation meeting, we also ask if you know how to send and receive emails. The entrance to the class on Webex is shown not only on your page on our website (which is simpler than most emails), but also sent through your email, and as a text message. All of the above contain one link and one link alone: "Click here to enter classroom". If you require more assistance with it, you are always welcome to contact us back. This can be easily done by clicking "Reply" to any of the many emails we exchange.

Please contact us so we can understand where the problem was, and resolve it for you. We want you to enjoy the full course. Not because you paid the tuition for it, but because of the benefits the studies can provide you with. Not all universities insist on you showing up to classes and take advantage of the tuition you payed, but we do.

Please contact service@eteachergroup.com, attention of: Michal Jacobs, or 1-646-200-5822 as soon as possible, we wish to help you best we can.

After having the most hideous experience with this company 10 years ago where they managed to get out a few hundred dollars from my card but actually tried more but my card was already maxed out, I see they are still going strong and up to their old tricks. A formula that has worked well for them. One of the ways they scam you is by sending you out samples but when you sign for them, then they can say to the bank that this was a purchase and hence the charge.
Today I received an email from another company in Israel trying to sell stuff and I wonder if they sold my email address too.

I had a big problem with Rosen School of Hebrew (formerly eteacherHebrew.com) when I cancelled my study after 1,5 lessons: their cancellation fee was accomplishing the payment for the whole amount for the complete level. So I paid unwillingly for the whole level even after only 1,5 lessons. But when I complied very strongly, they found a good solution, which made me satisfied. So I can express my positive experience with them now in total I learned there a lot in a good way I finished there four levels this was the begin of the fifth.

WARNING! DO NOT RISK TO LOSE YOUR MONEY!
November 9, 2019
Previous review

Rosen School of Hebrew (Formerly eteacherHebrew.com) have found out a smart way how they let you pay a full price for a semester (824 Euro) even if you will get nothing from them. Consider: They let me pay the full semester (824 Euro) even when I cancelled my study after 1,5 teaching hour 8 days from the 1stlesson). But it was only partly a personal fault of David Maurice from their Customer Care Team, who did it, even if according their system he had to pay me back 10% refund (82,40 Euro this is my right when I cancel up to 10 days after the 1st scheduled lesson). Their cancellation refund system is so (you can check it here: https://legal.eteachergroup.com/legal/terms/course/ ), that even if you find out, that you do not like their teaching system even on their very first lesson, you get back only 10% (82,40 Euro) of the full price of the curse you pay 741,60 Euro for nothing, only because you trust them. I did not get back even this 10%. They took from my credit card the rest of the full semester price as a cancellation fee.
In Europe we have a law, that when you buy something by internet or by phone, you can return it without payment and explanation even after 14 days of use. This is a fair protection of the customer. Not here. You have no chance to check the real condition in the group before the first lesson. But after the first lesson you have to pay them 90% or even 100% (my case) of the fee for the full semester. In my case it was after 1,5 teaching hour 824 Euro. Is that fair? Do you like it? Me not!!!

Be very careful of this group. They are very aggressive when selling "packages" and will not allow you to make any changes after 5 days. Customer service is slow and not particularly helpful. And they will call you over and over and over if they think you're going to purchase something. The materials for the classes are OK, but there are no supplementary materials available for exercises. Class participants are not grouped well (we had a class with mostly Spanish-speaking students, and the teacher answered their questions in Spanish, which we do not speak). Tips: Demand to interview the teacher; only sign up for the minimum; do not sign up to receive the newspaper. Expect many phone calls if they smell a sale.

Sept 22 update:
After reading the response I received here, I contacted the person who responded three times with no answer. Very unfortunate. Will post additional info if and when I receive any reply.

Engaging and Fun!
July 13, 2017

It's been a pleasure to learn with teacher Ayala. Thanks to the small number of participants (4) we get to practice a lot. The teacher keeps the class interesting and gives everyone an opportunity to interact. It makes for a fun environment. Unlike my initial class where we were 15, which I found stressful and not very meaningful. I would recommend eTeacher, especially if you can be in a smaller-sized class.
