In buying a domain, I was concerned about managing the financial aspect and making sure we got what we expected, especially since we were buying from someone overseas. There were some minor hiccups (didn't know that the Concierge-level service would not be available over the weekend, and that wires were required above a certain amount). But overall, it made the transaction feel more secure, and smoothed out what might have been a bumpy exchange.
I have used Escrow.com several times over the past few years for domain name sales and purchases. Their customer service has always been good, but Jenny really hit the ball out of the park. She helped me with my initial question and solved it while on the first call. She then called me back with an update, too. That is great customer service and that is why I will continue to use Escrow.com... Also, Jenny deserves a bonus, too...:-)
My first time using Escrow.com. Setting up an account was easy. My ID and banking credentials were carefully validated, which is reassuring. I called with questions, and my CSR resolved them quickly. Great service!
They are legit and staff is very nice
They secured payment for buyer until he receives services which is nice.
Im seller at this time but would love to work as a buyer in coming future with escrow.
Thanks
Escrow.com pulled through in a complicated transaction dealing with a foreign entity that put us all though a wild roller coaster ride. I cannot say enough about the professionalism and expertise of Escrow.com. Thank you making this transaction possible!
I highly recommend using the services of Escrow.com which I checked is licensed to provide escrow services in the USA. Their service is excellent in all respects including their support staff. On one occasion I sold a domain name on a payment plan which spanned about seven payments and it went very well. It's absolutely worth joining Escrow.com if you wish to securely sell or buy digital or other assets.
I used escrow.com to have peace of mind that I would get paid on time by a client. Instead if the client forgets to approve that work has been completed (and Escrow.com only send automated reminders for 1 week, then forget about it), they keep the money indefinitely.
With one payment Escrow.com refused to accept it because it didn't come from the client. It did, Escrow.com just got confused because they mistook the address of the bank for the name of the company sending the funds.
My client got an error message when they tried to login to confirm receipt of a service we'd provided, so couldn't send the approval. Escrow still won't release the funds even though it's been nearly a month and we had arranged a 2 week inspection period.
Their site is cumbersome and not at all user-friendly and seems designed to hold onto your money for as long as they possibly can.
Working with escrow.com could not have been easier or more professional. The people, the software interface and financial process were excellent. Honestly, escrow.com exceeded my highest expectations.
Bought a domain name using Escrow.com. Everything went pretty smoothly. I paid for the concierge service and they sent the domain right to our GoDaddy account. Would highly recommend. Saved us about $5500 in fees vs buying the name directly from GoDaddy.
They were very quick in assisting me with this transaction. It was a very smooth process and escrow handled the domain transfer. Highly recommend this service if you are looking for a safe and secure transaction.
While I have to admit there are some frustrations with escrow.com in there process, such as there is no tracking number for a vehicle shipment. Also both parties (seller and buyer) need to ensure that they are following the process correctly and escrow.com could be better at prompting the seller or buyer when information is needed or to proceed with the next step.
I would like to focus on the customer service rep who helped me yesterday ensure that the process was moving along. After several frustrating email attempts, I spoke with a gentleman in customer service who had the seller and buyer on the line simultaneously and was able to push the process through.
The transaction has not been completed. But after this latest communication I have a little more faith that it will proceed accordingly.
Waiting 5+ days for payment to get to seller. Countless calls to them, I'm told different things from every rep. Yet I'm assure 'funds are in process and being sent today'. This goes on for 3 days. There's some mysterious 'review team' that can't be contacted yet holds your funds hostage. Nearly blew up the whole deal. Absolutely terrible company
The Escrow.com website describes a $26 'standard fee', which increased to $45 when I signed up and entered the amount I wanted to transfer ($1400) I'd call that a sliding fee rather than a standard fee. And only after I'd sent the buy offer did the confirmation page reveal there are additional fees for the two payment options: $25 for international wire transfer or $46 for Paypal or credit card. And accepting credit card payments just doesn't cost that much. This is deceptive conduct and terrible value for money. I won't use this service again and I will caution friends and family members against using it.
It's hit or miss, I've been hung up on 4 times. But, every once and awhile someone will go out of there way. Verifying funds can be extremely daunting. Especially with the verification process. Customer service and "proof of funds" severely needs to be updated. This should not be so difficult for a buyer.
Horrible experience. A quick and simple domain transfer became a time consuming disaster. Poor communication, badly set up backend, which is asking for document types, that don't exist, which leads to rejections of the verification over and over again. Avoid this company if you can!
First of all, the online "verification" process was neither clear nor well coded. Attempting to make a $1000 sell, the website clearly stated that verification only required for US citizens OVER the amount of $3000, yet I received email after email requesting verification. Second, the "verification" process on the buyer's end took forever. This is an exceptionally poor, slow service -- that should not take so long. They seriously need to get it together to survive.
I'm giving a one star because I wasn't able to give less. This company has, by far, some of the worst customer service. Selling a domain name. I did everything I was to do. Received an email saying that payment would be sent shortly. Five days later and hours of my life wasted. I spoke to the bank and the money they claim to have sent hasn't even left their bank! They have you jump through hoops and in the end they say we've done everything we can. So much dishonesty. Don't trust them to handle anything!
Ever since freelancer bought this company. Things have changed drastically. Ive been having terrible experiences left and right nothing goes smooth any more payments are held way to long and sometimes becomes a deal killer. I have been recently fighting with them to get paid on one of my transactions for over a week they lied and said the sent out the wire. But they haven't. Theres vetter services to use out there that will treat the customers like they should this company is not one of them. Im not using them again!
I would NOT recommend escrow.com. Not only are their fees high, they take a ridiculous amount of time to process refunds. In my case, I returned the item I had purchased (because it was stained) and the seller received it 11 days ago... and escrow.com still has not send me my refund! I am already out the wire transfer fee, the shipping cost, and the escrow.com fee, and yet I still cannot get my money back from them. In addition, customer service is terrible -- they're based in California, but you may as well be calling India. DO NOT USE THIS SITE!
The whole process is unclear, you never know what is the next step and sometimes receive conflicting information/requests. Everything is done by email with no global view of completed steps and steps to come. That was very stressful at times. Thankfully I knew escrow by hearsay and had a good image of the company, because the whole thing looked very unprofessional especially for a service handling sums of money. In France, to speak of what I know best, we are used to streamlined processes with professional looking interfaces when dealing with that kind of transactions. If needed I work in a UX company (PwC Experience Center) and this is our job. Would be happy to help on designing a better experience.
Answer: Hi David, we've processed just over $3 billion in transactions to date, with transactions from $100 all the way up to over $10,000,000. In addition to our regular licensing requirements, I hope you'll take a moment to look at the customer testimonials on www.escrow.com
Answer: Hi Janine! Thanks for reaching out! As the largest online licensed and audited escrow operator, Escrow.com is your best choice for domain transfer transactions. Escrow.com safely holds or secures the Buyer's payment in a trust account until the entire transaction is complete. That way, Buyers can be confident that the domain will be registered in their name and Sellers can be sure they'll be paid. We also have the concierge service for domain transfers without content where the Seller needs not to wait for the Buyer to confirm receipt and full control of the domain as Escrow.com will essentially take care of that inspection in your behalf. The Seller will only need to transfer the domain to one of our secured registrar accounts and we can release the funds to them. On the Buyer's side, they don't need the inspect period to verify the domain because we will do that for them. Our concierge team will work directly with the Seller to transfer the domain to us so there's no need for the Buyer to stress with follow-ups about the domain transfer. As soon as we secure the payment, the Buyer only needs to advise us where they want the domain to be transferred to and we will take care of the rest. Our dedicated concierge specialists will assist you every step of the way. Feel free to leave your contact details and best time to call as we are happy to discuss with you further should you have other questions. Thanks!
Answer: Hi Milly, I'm not sure I'm understanding your question exactly but Escrow.com only displays bank information on our site and never via email. Check to make sure any emails you are receiving came from@escrow.com.
Answer: Hi Doug, start by making an offer to the seller through the AutoTrader.ca's Secure Payment platform. Once the offer is accepted you can pay into the escrow account and then go to inspect the car. If everything is as expected you can release funds to the seller right there on the spot. Two quick tips: Always make sure emails about your transaction are coming from an@escrow.com email address, and make sure you log into Escrow.com to make sure you're sending funds to the correct account. Hope this helps!
Hi Daniel,
The fee calculator you screenshot is there to make sure customers can see the escrow fee charged before starting a transaction, not to deceive. We advise the inclusion of $25 for an international wire transfer as international intermediary banks take wire transfer fees from deposits before they reach Escrow.com - these are not fees that go to Escrow.com.
I hope this helps clarify.
Best regards,
