They never respond once the payment is done. They do nothing even when the customer is unsatisfied on thier products. Just the money makers.

Not worth the money

I thought I would give it a try. The packaging is nice, smell is neutral and easy to use, BUT 1. The red color I ordered wasn't much of a red stayed pretty much the blond I was with a hint of copper (not what I ordered. Adjusted my color, second time around, color was great, BUT it washed out within 5-6 hair washes (even used their classic shampoo and conditioner). Also, in the instructions, which I followed precisely, it says to shampoo you hair after rinsing out the hair color. Really? Every colorist knows that you should not shampoo you hair for at least 72 hours to let hair folicle close to lock the color in. Fazit -> not worth the money.

I've ordered three shipments from eSalon. The first shipment never arrived and they replaced it which was nice. When it came time for my next color, my shipment tracking said that USPS was still waiting to receive the item, this went on for 10 days. I live in the same city as the eSalon headquarters and was told by customer service that my shipments shouldn't take longer than 2-3 days to arrive. Not sure what's happening with that, especially since they are charging $5.95 for shipping!

As for the color: it was inconsistent, didn't cover any grays, and made my hair and scalp tight and dry. I spoke to a colorist on two separate occasions and while it improved slightly each time, the color was still off and didn't cover any grays. The color also turned brassy after a few washes, even when using sulphate free color safe hair products.

All in all, I'd say it's not worth the time or money. It's very hard to get perfect color based off of a picture or some generalized quiz results. I don't know about most people, but for me, it was incredibly frustrating to go a few months with hair that was ridiculously brassy and still gray. I don't have the patience to go another few rounds before they can get the color or processing instructions right.

Absolutely appalled by these, changed the chosen colour my wife chose and assured her it would be blonde or money back. Instead she is now brown and we need to pay to go to hairdressers to fix it and they refunded just the cost of the dye. Wow you should be paying the 100 its going to cost to fix. DO NOT USE just get a dye off the shelf if ur gonna do it yourself as it will turn out better than from these.

Terrible experience with Esalon
Terrible experience with Esalon. My hair was natural light/medium brown, only dye/bleach I had on at time was highlights. I reached out to Esalon and wanted to dye my hair a natural dark blonde to go a shade lighter and go over my highlights. I get the box, exited as I've seen a lot of good reviews. Dye my hair, following all their instructions, my hair turns out dark dark brown. Way darker than my natural hair. I contacted Esalon, this is where I was told to go buy color oops and once I got their dye off, they would send me out another formula. I got the color oops, which cost more than what I originally paid for their product. I got the second formula, it says dark blonde again after we had already spoke about how dark their (dark blonde) was. I call my colorist back up and ask what is going on, she reassures me it was reformulated and that I'd be much happier the second time around. Again I am very hesitant to use another (dark blonde) from them. I wait another 10 days as I had already had to use color oops and cut 4 inches of my hair off bc of the damage the first product caused. I dye my hair again, following all the directions. After washing it out, I could tell it was definitely lighter this time but now my hair was orangish looking as I was towel drying. I let my hair finish air drying then go look to see and now I have dark blondish COPPER coloured hair! I email the company again with pictures again showing what my hair looks like now after using what their colorist recommended for the second time. I receive an email back stating how hair color could not lift hair color and that is why my hair is now red and that I should seek help from a salon. I had no hair color on my original hair, only highlights! If not for them screwing up the original formula, none of this mess would've happened in the first place! Never again!

Ordered Jan 19, tracking number says it doesn't exist when you track, and they told me they will do nothing until Feb 17? 30 days to get hair dye?
Don't even try it. Such a scam.

I ordered demi permanent and am happy with the color and it has lasted longer than I expected! Usually red shades don't last long on my hair but this one did. Very good customer service. Easy to use, I have long fairly thick hair and one bottle was plenty for my hair. Not sure what others are doing to not get good results?!?! My one complaint is my hair feels drier than usual, but it is winter and a draught so that might be part of it. Would use again!

Poor color
January 2, 2021

Was going from a ash blonde to a bright red. It was not at all the color I wanted. I take into consideration I color my hair alot but even the color on my regrowth, virgin hair, still just a pinkish color. They did offer to replace my color but I don't think I'm going to bother. I sent pictures of my hair color when ordering so I feel they should of been able to get alot closer to my desired shade.

Nothing special

Since my salon was not seeing clients due to "The Vid" (now back at limited capacity) and I'm not special like Nancy Pelosi, I thought I'd give this a try. While I appreciate the concept, I'm honestly not impressed. Truth be told, it has to be difficult to try and consult clients and estimate hair color through photos and descriptions. Everyone will see/interpret things differently. I had no issues adjusting my color with the colorists (they were pretty patient with me, I'm a particular $#*!), but I'm just not thrilled with how drying and inconsistent the color is. I've done my own hair FOR YEARS prior to seeking out a salon, and even have a couple stylist friends (unfortunately they live far from me) who've educated me on this and that. Never have I had such a patchy outcome than I have with this color. They only offer a liquid color, so that should've been my first clue that this would wreck havoc on my perpetually parched, 2B/C, prone to frizz hair. They do offer add-ons like weekly masques, moisturizing conditioners and shampoos, as well as other styling products (their root lift spray is the best I've tried), and I have the deep repair conditioner... it's ok, but smells divine. I will give them one more shot (going with the three strikes rule); if I'm still "meh", I won't use them again. They're not off to a great 3rd start though, I was informed my order shipped 2wks ago, but I have not received it yet. Last tracking update via USPS was a week ago, I'm not sure who it falls on at this point.

This place is a joke. I didnt get the color i ordered (of course didnt know til I applied it). Ran with it because I didn't have a choice. When I used the second bottle (I paid for it so might as well) it turned my hair orange and completely fried it. I had just gotten 6" cut off to make it healthy again... now I look like a clown and my hair is like fricking straw... thank God I canceled it

This is my second time using esalon and I gotta say, I like it more than the store boxed hair color. My only dislike about the permanent hair color is that it really sticks to your skin if you are not careful. It's not a big deal after you have done it the second time around. I will order more, but not sign up for auto-ship.

There I was relaxing in my living room after a long week of work. I was watching some movie on the Roku channel to take my mind off things and wind down for the weekend. The movie stopped for a commercial break; the first commercial was for Liberty Mutual. After chuckling at the silly antics of the "LiMu-Emu" and Doug I was jolted from my reclined stature with "THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX!" For the next 30 seconds I thought I was going to need to make an appointment with the ear doctor to inspect the damage the blown out speakers had done. As I thought the ad was coming to a close I was starting to relax back into my chair. But wait! Is it possible?! My eardrums continued to be assaulted as for the last fifteen seconds of the ad got even LOUDER! My ears were practically ringing by the time the commercial came to a close. The movie returned after the break and the dialogue volume level was so soft I was straining to hear the key plot points of the story. This ad played on every commercial break, it played MAGNITUDES louder than all the other ads and the movie itself, probably upwards of 20 dB louder. I'm sure the product is good but they need to remaster their commercials to a reasonable volume. Every time it came on it was like I had minor PTSD of the first assault on my eardrums. This company needs to fix its ads if it wants any positive words from me.

Good color, soft hair.

Just tried Esalon for the first time, and although the red didn't turn out as intense as I'd like, I'm sure we can figure out the right formula eventually. Dye process wasn't messy at all, and the smell was pretty neutral compared to some box dyes I've used in the past. Granted, I've been dyeing my own hair for over 22 years, so I'm not sure what some other people on here were expecting. Maybe the company is better with reds than some of the dark tones? At any rate, good stuff. Would definitely recommend.

CONTROL FREAKS

Well as long as you don't mind not getting to make your own choices then go for it.
If you do like to decide what you want your hair color to be then X out the esalon option.
It is for people afraid to move past vanilla in life.
You literally can not choose a color that they DO NOT think you should. I'm sorry but that is not only boring but completely ridiculously controlling.
I'd give it one star but i am rating the concept, not the product. Dull browns, come on down!

During the pandemic, my natural hair came in soft. The dyed hair from this company was crisp and dried to the point it was like straw. I never color anything but my roots so it wasn't because all my hair is always colored. I've also had trouble with this product covering my gray. Customer Service just told me to keep in on longer during the dying process. Never worked. I switched to Olia by Garnier. The gray is MUCH MUCH better, the colored hair is SOFT, not crispy. The only thing this company got right was the color. That's it. I just canceled my subscription.

My initial color formula didn't quite cover my Greys enough but their customer service was awesome and after speaking to a color professional and Sending photos they tweaked my next formula and it was perfect. So much better than a salon trip every month

I ordered my hair color and after I paid it took a month to get an email that my order had been shipped, moreover I never received it. I started to think that this online company is an absolute scam. I sent them couple e-mails, they just apologize and said we will sent another one. It is more than 3 months now I am waiting for my order.

I initially ordered a dark brown color but for whatever reason they would not give me that color. Instead they sent me a soft black which turned out to be Raven Black. Its so dark, it made my hair look off balance. Despite pleading many times for them to send me a dark brown, they sent me a raven black and would not offer me a secondary option. Instead they refunded me for the intial purchase. It would have been nice if they gave me 2 options and I would have had NO other problems since it would have been my choice. I would have been very happy with the result of the dark brown. I used the only option they gave me becuase I wanted to try the service and trusted them but after usage, the black is way too dark and made my hair look off balance. Imagine top part black and middle to low brown with blonde. Nice right? Esalon must be very proud every time they screw up someone's hair. Well, now I need a color correction. Isn't that nice? I don't recommend. You will have unethical people who discriminate and who won't provide you service, who will argue with you and won't listen. They will not give you the color that you actually want. The colorist said that they could lighten my hair over time. LOL. Not with the Stark Black color you sent me. They are unqualified and unprofessional to the highest degree. Please do not be in business any longer. Your company is doing your community and people a great disservice.
