I naively ordered Pro for a year, little did I know they kept my credit card info and recharged me for a second year. When I noticed the charge and I complained to them, they basically said it sucks to be you... Stay away from these scam artists. It costs them nothing to cancel the second year and credit your account.
I had to use Dropbox to download a picture that I ordered from Esty. OK, a one time deal, free trial period. I received a text and a phone call that there was a fraudulent charge on my bank card... Dropbox had charged me $119 for a full year subscription after the so called free trial! This company is a scam and I'm sure they are charging many other unsuspecting people. As others have stated, no refunds, no recourse, no customer service. This company should have a star rating of -1! Reporting this to the BBB!
This company is a thief. They set you up for the 30-day trial and charge you for a whole year ($750) even the product does not work and you do not need it after the trial. Stay away from this company. I may bring them to court.
When DropBox was just out of the box, I got an account. I have never used it much, but every time I have, it has saved my bacon! I only use the free account, but the paid ones just add more of the same. It does what it says it will do. The interface is clean and useable. I can never ask for more than something that works and looks nice and is free for my needs!
Have a DB so that others can share info but now it is full, or so they say, so I removed all the files and it is still "full". No place to get an answer ot contact support. Also, navigation within it is difficult.
Use Google drive all the time, no problems and works for eveyone - forget DB, IMHO
I love dropbox, it took a friend of mine recommending it for some time before I actually signed up, but now that I use it, it's value prop is clear to me. I like the functionality - however they fall behinds some of their competitors for not having a Symbian application, All in all, great concept; love the site and software, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is computer literate, likes "stuff,"
When it's working, dropbox is great.
BUT... if you have a problem and need some help, Dropbox is an utter failure. Their help center is impossible to navigate, and the forum is full of Dropbox apologists who will tell you that if you have a problem with Dropbox, it's your fault and your problem. There is NO PHONE to call, and NO CHAT support. This leaves a support ticket system with a 3-day response time (not that the response is likely to be responsive) which is guaranteed to drive you crazy, especially if you need an immediate solution.
As long as you stay below the free storage limit, you're probably okay, but as soon as you have to actually deal with the company, you're screwed. The Better Business Bureau gives Dropbox Customer Service a grade of F (http://www.bbb.org/greater-san-francisco/business-reviews/storage-data/dropbox-in-san-francisco-ca-*******). It's time for tech users to insist on good service. Do yourself a favor and avoid Dropbox.
Personally I never encountered any problems with the service, however I`m using only the free version of it, and seeing the comments below I guess will stick to the free version forever:)
Good for storing some small files to transfer to your devices. Tbh never used this for anything else.
You should download it as soon as possible and reap the advantages. To know more about the storing application you should visit the website else can talk to the customer care executives. It is easy to reach to them through emails and calls.
Great find Ash A. I almost forgot about this. We onced used this in our office.
The best part for me here is how it is setup to be just like any ordinary folder in your local hard disk. Just drop any files in there and it instantly uploads it to their servers.
I upgraded my account for $99, I immediately changed my mind on upgrade, I cancelled with in 4 minutes to stop the charge on my credit card. They down graded my acct instantly, I have no used any additional storage. They will not refund me my $99! I have emails showing times of transaction.
Dropbox is manipulative and pushy. They badger you with encouragements to upgrade without letting you download the files you need to. Why would I want to pay more for a service that is so frustrating to interact with in the first place? Every time a pop up takes me to the upgrade screen, I want to upgrade less and less.
Why would you do business with a company that does not answer their phone?
Why would you do business with a company that does't have customer service?
Why would you do business with a company that has 429,000 complaints listed on the internet? I do not know how they got my credit card number and charged me without my permission. I will report this to some federal agency. Its alot like stealing. Their business should be investigated by the appropriate agency and fined.
I had used Dropbox on my Win10 for a long time with no problems. Then I stopped for a while and got a new PC. Downloaded the latest Dropbox, installed it, answered all the tedious questions and verifications with "You're successful" comments. Final comment: "Dropbox is successfully installed". Then when I started Dropbox nothing happened. Absolutely nothing. Am I the village fool or the programmer? I don't think it's me..
I have an open ticket for 3 days now, no answer, They kept saying I am out of my space and need upgrade, I have been paying their upgrade program for some times. I now can't upload to my account, I dont' know how they exist. Their customer is soo bad.
Poorly designed, since it auto defaults to lowest quality, so if recipients forget or do not know to change quality, it looks like poorly made video, that is un-watchable. Dropbox videos should be just as good or even better than Youtube quality videos that do not hardly ever, buffer & freeze up on good internet service like dropbox videos does. Also Dropbox Docsend tracked videos are even worse quality,as their videos mostly only play in very poor low un-watchable quality, without any option to raise quality. So could not even use Docsend option, even though really wanted track when & by whom my recipient video was opened, plus we do not like that Dropsend requires our recipients to cough up their email info, just to get basic tracking info. This is poor marketing. I would never pay for this curr Docsend service.
All my online reviews will rate Dropbox & Docsend as [ 2.5 out of 5 Stars], until many badly needed improvements are done.
Hope Dropbox & Docsend Developers fix all these ongoing poor service issues, as reported by many many others online.
Beware Dropbox's 'FREE TRIAL' offer requiring a credit card!
Unless you positively vote NO / CANCEL at the end of the trial you are automatically subscribed. I was charged a massive E738 for a service I tried once but can't use due slow internet speeds. The annual fee is totally non-refundable and they don't even email to warn or remind you the free trial period is up.
Amazingly they are doing nothing illegal, but it feels like unethical sharp practice akin to being mugged and is extremely poor customer service.
Shame on you Dropbox. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!
I've used the free version of Dropbox for about 5 years, since I returned to school, but recently needed more space for a single transfer and signed up for a free 30-day trial of Dropbox Business. Despite the fact that I was late canceling the trial and was automatically charged for a year, the Customer Support team gave me the time I needed to explain my problem, then reversed the charge, all the time treating me in a very friendly manner. I recommend Dropbox as a company that provides an extremely useful service and treats its customers as valued people.
I made the mistake of not doing enough research before wasting my time downloading the free version, the commercial reviews, obviously sponsored by Dropbox have no coalition to the private review sites which are more accurate. I thank the Gods I didnt waste money buying Pro as the free version is trash. Dropbox was a great concept destroyed by some morons trying to invade your life or business. It doesnt achieve its original concept, it has been polluted, over complicated, unnavigable and just doesnt work now. The best think with Dropbox is deleting it then working out how to stop the trash email flood. If you are a lifeless nerd desperate to iCloud your privates and a miserable failed life to more desperate imbeciles then Dropbox is for you because you may have the time to get it to work, Dropbox may even employ you to optimise it further.
I signed up for their free 30 day trial and then I was charged $495 for a year which I never agreed to. I cancelled but they have a no refund policy no matter what. What a terribly dishonest, ripoff company! I will never use their service.
Answer: TRUE THEY SCAMMED ME TOO!
Answer: SCAMMERS!
Answer: I hope there is a class action suit and I will join it.
Answer: Dropbox customer support will soft talk you into thinking they are helping to put a stop to their fraudulent charges, but in the end they actually do nothing. I don't believe they have an in-house system to stop credit card charges. There are many crooked companies that do business this same way as well. How many people don't read their credit card statement in full every month? And the dropbox folks rake in the fraudulent charges people don't catch. Call them, and they say "we're sorry" it won't happen again. I went through that three times and finally had to re-issue my card with a new number. Shown is a canned text statement below sent to people with billing problems: >"I will need all of the following information for security reasons and to locate the charge to assist you:"< > Card type First six digits of the card Last four digits of the card Full name on the credit card charged Date of charge Amount charged Billing postal code< "Dear Dropbox, If I spent the same amount of time, it takes to cancel a CC looking at the thousands of negative online reviews before I bought Dropbox I would be well ahead of the game. I added my negative review of dropbox to the many already online after I changed the CC number on my Visa, of course. And no, I will not give you any more cc numbers or names. Dropbox has a worldwide reputation of continuous charges once they get your number. Did you think I just fell off the turnip truck? LOL Goodbye Forever,"
Answer: I was unsuccessful as well. I ended up disputing the charge with my credit card. It is still being investigated. My wife was successful in getting a refund on a new account that she never used, within 7 days of paying. She is the only one I know of that has done that successfully.
Dropbox has a rating of 1.9 stars from 210 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Dropbox most frequently mention credit card, customer service and free trial. Dropbox ranks 109th among Online Storage sites.
