I sold a rare LP for $212 and "partner" fees were taken out to the tune of $70! Unbelievable rip off! Bullies in the forums horrible, horrible horrible!
As a buyer, every order you place is a gamble. You pay prior to shipping, but you have no recourse if order does not arrive. No protection for buyers from either Discogs nor PayPal.
See below reviews avoid these Hooray henries obnoxious arrogant scum sellers, be warned!
Avoid at all costs
I just heard of group people are taking legal action against discog head of support Fiona Thompson for there staff allowing their long time members to bully new and other users, even though reports were issued on the comments posted on the site for the world to see, no action has been taken yet to removed them the customer service is dreadful 3 years ago I was verbally attacked by two members for adding a release I submitted what's known as SR report but in stead of them assisting me I Staff member called Aaron just ban my account, this is what the site does protects the vermin bullies and lets them destroy a person reputation
Luckly I has friends on their who help me purchase stuff if i cant find it anywhere else.
I hope these people succeed.
It's an eBay for music. You have to know your seller. Look at the reviews of the seller to see if they accurately describe the product, and the grading is accurate.
Avoid user pornflakes and Lurtz they are two users who create there own listing and sell as imports they ripped me off and discogs did nothing had to get my money back through my card company.
This site is full of self-proclaimed "experts" who disagree just for the sake of disagreeing!
I updated some of my records with INFORMATION FROM DISCOGA and people were $#*!ing and complaining that it was incorrect! I cited the SAME INFORMATION from other sources and the "experts" said it was incorrect!
The hate messages you get are incredible and how heaven help you if you disagree with anyone of the "experts"... they will try to get you banned!
Most of the time you cannot see an actual picture of what you are buying from a Seller! Many of the Sellers are selling "Pure Crap" & Junk from old thrift stores, yard sales or even worse!
Just an FYI... if you have the audacity to disagree with anyone on Discogs... they will harass you endlessly. And Discogs will do nothing.
Be warned.
Discogs banned me before I even had an account. I tried signing up, and their account verification email never came. After waiting a few weeks I tried a password reset and the password reset email came, but it didn't work. I contacted support, unaware that Discogs is notorious for their adversarial customer support. They told me that the account with that email address never existed (despite the password reset email working).
So I made a new account as support suggested, and had the same issue. After waiting a few weeks and with no working password reset, I contacted support. They told me that their anti-abuse system somehow detected that my account was connected to some other account they had closed. I told them about my previous account, but they said it had nothing to do with it.
They told me I wouldn't get an account unless I told them more about this mystery account I knew nothing about, and they refused to tell me about it. I kept trying to get more details, explaining to them that I live at a university and share an IP address with thousands of people I don't know. They refused to hep, and when I said the word "crap" when I was flustered by their continued harassment of me, they scolded me and deleted my ticket.
Every time I've tried to make an account since hasn't worked. I've tried multiple browsers, IP addresses, etc. Whatever tracking magic they use is pretty effective at enforcing a ban on me for never using their service.
With customer service this adversarial, I sure would not trust Discogs with my money either.
I was looking for an old 60's album and found a few here. I chose the one that looked like the best condition and price. There were no shipping charges displayed, so I assumed I would see them on the next page when asked to pay. So I clicked Place my Order (which I assumed was like "Add to Cart"). I was appalled when I saw $30 shipping charges for $8 album. So I ignored this seller and clicked back and tried another, which turned out much cheaper on shipping and placed that order. Little did I know I had "committed to buy and pay for" the first album even though I could not see the shipping charges. So 4 days later I get a crappy email from the seller saying I didn't pay - I thought he was crazy as I told him I wasn't going to as the shipping charges were too high. Well he still marked me down, the 2nd one marked me up, so I have a 50% rating, which now is not enough to buy from many sellers.
And while the seller can rate me, I can't rate the seller. Discogs support is automated and useless. So now I'm stuck with a 50% rating through no fault of my own.
My daughter was verbally abused on this site by user Ontheand and User Obliterator, one of them threaten her with physical harm and this was reported to the authorites and discog support. Discog support was shocking instead of removing the two users they blocked my daughters account, This site support is shocking and they do not care about their users and allow long time users like the above to troll, harrass and verbally abuse other members. Totally sickening, i wounder if the situation was on the foot, and the abuse was aimed there family, how would they feel.
I ordered an LP from DIscogs on Dec. 4th. It was a xmas gift for my son. I never received the album. I notified them and told them also notified pay pal where the money was paid from. We went back and forth and I sent all the information requested, that I had, to the seller. The last e-mail I received from him was saying he didn't hear from me and assumed I got my LP. He said he sent me the tracking information. I told him I never received that information. The next notification I received was from pay pal saying a refund was issued. I did not ask for a refund I wanted the album.
I am very upset about this seller. He put a note on my pay pay acct saying he is done with this. He said he knows I received the LP. I never received the LP from him If I would of receive it I would of notified him. I would not do that to him or anyone else... How dare him accuse me of something like that when he doesn't even know who I am.
It was a xmas gift and still don't have it. He can stick his refund up his $#*!. That is not what I wanted. If that's how he resolves his issues that is a shame. He is not a nice person as far as I am concerned..
Cannot leave bad feedback for bad sellers. Bad policy for buyers.
If you have a bad experience buying, discogs will not help you.
Do not do business with 'rauzer' is my advice.

Ok, a lot of negative stuff here. Yes ALL sites have their issues. Sellers are driving this site, so if you're buying from someone who is a crap seller you'll likely get a crap product. Yes, this does happen on Doscogs, but guess what? It also happens on Ebay, Musicstack and any other music selling platform. Why? Grading is (but shouldn't be) subjective. That means someone has different eyesight than yours, grades under different light. Ect ect ect. Lots of varables. The sellers who know what they are doing are easily noted with very good overall feedback, whilst the ones who have no clue, or as nearsighted as a board typically have poor reviews. YOU make your own assumptions by reading reviews on the seller prior to buying, ask questions, review shipping policies and return policies they have. Get that opinion of them prior to placing your order. Pay with Paypal so you have that protection. Yes, there are sellers who over grade, as stated I have returned MANY records on Ebay for this issue also. Find sellers you trust and buy from them.
Actually this company owns the most extensive database around the world. I found information that I couldn't found before. Thank you guys.

This is a site that Punishes the good guys rewards the criminals. They punish people that makes them money (Sellers) and reward no feedback scammers
There are so many SCAMMERS on this SITE who would take your money and nevery send you the merchandise! Site only cares about getting their Commission.
Answer: You don't know until you "Place Order" - which is a "Commitment to Buy"! So you might be committing your self to $100 shipping, and if you don't pay, the seller can give you a bad review. It's a con - they list low to get your attention then pile on the rest via shipping charges.
Answer: If you are a victim of DISCOGS scam, please write to consumer protection of Oregon state. I can`t post the link(due SJ guidelines) but you can search on Google and find the website.
Answer: If you are DG submitter and have many releases, sooner or later DISCOGS will put you on CIP meaning you `ll be banned to post new LPs untill you you `ll gain enough correct VOTES from privilleged users(who have a right to vote if submitters posted correct realeses). It is a scam tactic to force submitters to bribe other users to vote correct and CIP will be removed from them. Beware! DISCOGS is a synonim of WORLD WIDE MUSIC SCAM.As you see the company doesn`t respond at SJ negative reviews.
