Totally fake site if it is a "database"! Only for "members" that contribute to vote for new releases and so making you dependent to contribute somehow! But people dont care about new artists. F*** you Discogs. Time for "The Bane Method" a la Batman Style. Watch out. Same as thedjlist.com: all money making promo machines, nothing more! All votes are fake and those who need votes dont get any! F*** you too! F*** your CEO and everybody who is involved, we will f*** your servers pretty soon
Excellent site for cataloging your collection, and allows you to easily add entries to the database if they are missing. You can sell releases you own, or buy any that are for sale. Only thing is I think a bit more buyer protection could be implemented: it currently works on a ratings system that allows retaliatory negative feedback from a seller if a buyer leaves negative feedback. Overall great site for anyone interested in music.
Any person who feels the need to defend Discogs, well, you are either a seller or you are somehow directly associated with that business. People who believe that problems on Discogs are created by the buyers either refusing to look at the facts, or have no idea how logic works. If I am a buyer, then my job, plain and simple is to BUY! If a problem arises from the fact that I bought a record, then guess what, the problem is not coming from the buyer, but rather, from the person whose only job and responsibility is to sell! Problems that come up on Discogs are directly associated with the sellers - period.
In January of 2022, Discogs forced its sellers to use PayPal. If you didn't, they shut you down and changed all the inventory listing dates so that it made it very difficult to find an item once it sold. The big screwing to sellers is a new hidden enormous fee on PayPal called "Partner fee"
Discogs pulled a fast one.
Discogs was the greatest site for music collectors and sellers but now they have introduced the most confusing mandatory shipping policies ever devised, they have nastily turned against all the small time sellers that helped build the site and have ignored repeated requests for a revision of these awful and stupid shipping policies.
I have deleted my account and I know many others have also deleted theirs, what a shame!
I was a buyer with a 100% rating on Discogs. All of a sudden I was blocked from posting on the Discogs forum. I absolutely did nothing to justify this. In fact, all of my posts are still on the forum so obviously they would have been removed if I did anything wrong. I have sent several emails to Discogs without any response. You're telling me that they can't take 30 seconds to reply? What arrogance! They absolutely don't care about the customer. I will take my business elsewhere.
Like Blu-ray.com, this is the place to build your collection of music on CD's, vinyl and audio cassettes. Even MP3 files are listed sometimes. This is the place I use to showcase my CD titles. I have not used the marketplace to buy or sell and therefore I cannot comment on that.
A seller with multiple complaints remains on site after multiple refusals to issue refund even though they agree to do so in official communication via the transaction record.
Customer service is beyond worthless. No venue for selling vinyl could possible be worse than the unscrupulous sellers they do nothing to police. Had to make several complaints before blowing you off. AVOID LIKE A PLAGUE.
Good resource for basic public domain information from a private site. Marketplace sales are billed at 8%. Some information has been revised in accordance to Discogs guidelines and Discogs community expectations. It is difficult to add new information due to the complexity of the system, guidelines and community expectations. Free membership is required to add, edit or use many custom features of the site. There is some trolling in the forums.
Google my independent lables first release. Its being sold on this site with, no license, and completely wrong info. Looks like Ill have to get BMI. AND HARRY FOX involved. - Jen Jones. Stupid Records. Shy Girl Publishing.
Enforcement of new shipping policies means the buyer suffers as well as the seller. There are a lot of items that are now unavailable because discogs refuses to allow them to be for sale unless the seller adheres to a new set of policies. They were fine without this. Use Elvinyl, a new up and coming site or check websites of independent record shops for a far more satisfactory experience.
DO NOT purchase anything from a individual called Frenchbeat he's a scam artist at its best! Took my husband's money record came cracked and he refused to give him a refund or exchange stalled him over 45days the cut off paypal has in order to intervene. Never again!
Check out HTFR and other places. I thought that I was not committed to buying by having items in my basked, I was wrong, genuine mistake... people only leave negative reviews, positive ones people dont bother with so I cant buy vinyl's because of their penalising me for this mistake 10 years ago. Disogs dont resolve these issues and thus is preventing buyers making purchases. Try eBay and you local record shops... Disogs is a disaster
Have been selling on this site for a few years. It may not get the traffic of AMZ or EB, but the fees aren't high and there is much less B. S. to deal with from their customer service dept. I wish that I sold more on this site, but overall I'm happy with all that they provide. Hoping soon that they will create a site for selling new & used games. Way to go DISCOGS!
One star rating is too many for Discogs since there is no zero star rating. The Discogs allows and even supports the bad sellers for it's profits. The 100% rating of sellers are meaningless since Discogs manipulate and change seller rating and negative feedback at will after bad sellers done something (sell defective records, take very long time to do the refund etc.) to cover it up for those sellers. If the seller rating is manipulated, how do you decide which seller to purchase from. This is the web site that you can not trust. Buying records on Discogs at your own risks.
Our experience on discos was just fine up until someone behind the scenes developed a personal vendetta against us. Moderator arrogantly refused a request to remove a negatively submitted feedback which CLEARLY violated their policy and guidelines.
Don't bother with this site, their so called customer service is $#*!, there are sellers that advertise items that are not what they really are (scam), be extremely careful before you buy do not go by seller ratings as they are bull$#*!. You wanna be scammed then this is the site,
I love Discogs and have used it for years and have purchased over 30 items mostly vinyl, 45's and CD's from all over the world. I have not had a problem with any purchase and you can also create a Want list and Discogs will tell you when and the item you want available.
Even at the point the sellers takes your money they seem to be under no obligation to provide a trading address, return address or contact telephone number. So far i have paid for 2 LPs from 2 different sellers and received nothing.
BUYER BEWARE
I added a cd to cart. When it came to purchasing it I couldn't bring myself to do it! I can't obligate myself to a BLIND purchase. When you place the order there is no shipping cost provided. Later the seller informs the buyer how much shipping will be and by Discogs policy you have committed and are obligated to pay no matter how much it is! I can't do it!
Has Discogs ever heard of any other website in the world that has full purchase price included at the point of purchase?
Answer: You don't know until you "Place Order" - which is a "Commitment to Buy"! So you might be committing your self to $100 shipping, and if you don't pay, the seller can give you a bad review. It's a con - they list low to get your attention then pile on the rest via shipping charges.
Answer: If you are a victim of DISCOGS scam, please write to consumer protection of Oregon state. I can`t post the link(due SJ guidelines) but you can search on Google and find the website.
Answer: If you are DG submitter and have many releases, sooner or later DISCOGS will put you on CIP meaning you `ll be banned to post new LPs untill you you `ll gain enough correct VOTES from privilleged users(who have a right to vote if submitters posted correct realeses). It is a scam tactic to force submitters to bribe other users to vote correct and CIP will be removed from them. Beware! DISCOGS is a synonim of WORLD WIDE MUSIC SCAM.As you see the company doesn`t respond at SJ negative reviews.
Discogs has a rating of 1.9 stars from 128 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Discogs most frequently mention customer service, negative feedback and long time. Discogs ranks 111th among Music Discovery sites.
